House Oversight Committee begins proceedings to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen

Go get him.
WASHINGTON—Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and 18 members of the Committee introduced a resolution to begin proceedings in the U.S. House of Representatives to impeach Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner John Koskinen.
In introducing the resolution, Chairman Chaffetz said, “Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust. He failed to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, documents were destroyed on his watch, and the public was consistently misled. Impeachment is the appropriate tool to restore public confidence in the IRS and to protect the institutional interests of Congress. This action will demonstrate to the American people that the IRS is under repair, and signal that Executive Branch officials who violate the public trust will be held accountable.”
Specifically, Commissioner Koskinen violated the public trust in the following ways:
  • Failed to comply with a subpoena resulting in destruction of key evidenceCommissioner Koskinen failed to locate and preserve IRS records in accordance with a congressional subpoena and an internal preservation order.  The IRS erased 422 backup tapes containing as many as 24,000 of Lois Lerner’s emails – key pieces of evidence that were destroyed on Koskinen’s watch.
  • Failed to testify truthfully and provided false and misleading information.  Commissioner Koskinen testified the IRS turned over all emails relevant to the congressional investigation, including all of Ms. Lerner’s emails.  When the agency determined Ms. Lerner’s emails were missing, Commissioner Koskinen testified the emails were unrecoverable.  These statements were false.
  • Failed to notify Congress that key evidence was missing.  The IRS knew Lois Lerner’s emails were missing in February 2014.  In fact, they were not missing; the IRS destroyed the emails on March 4, 2014.  The IRS did not notify Congress the emails were missing until June 2014 – four months later, and well after the White House and the Treasury Department were notified.

Sarah Palin doubles-down on impeachment...

Most mainstream GOP and even some conservatives diss the idea of impeaching Obama. The main argument is the Senate would never convict him because it takes a two-thirds majority.  I guess these people would tell citizens of the Ukraine to lay down their arms and surrender if Russia invades. After all, there is no way they could win against Russia. The problem with this argument is cowardice encourages bad behavior. If Russia knew they could take the Ukraine without consequences, they would take it the same way they annexed Crimea. This logic is true for Obama. He will already have an asterisk beside his name in the history books for being the first black president. I suspect he would like to avoid a second asterisk for being the third president to be impeached. Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached. Neither were convicted by the Senate. Johnson came within one vote. Obama supporters response to Obama's possible impeachment is, "For what?" The Constitution says presidents can be impeached for "High Crimes and Misdemeanors." Sarah Palin makes the case that that includes other things than ordinary crimes.

Via Fox News:
The next time you hear politicians denounce Barack Obama as a lawless, imperial president with a scandal-riddled administration, ask them what they’re going to do about it. Their gnashing of teeth over Obama’s self-granted omnipotence is repetitive.
Let’s agree with our ninth president, William Henry Harrison, who said there is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive than the exercise of unlimited power. We understand the problem. The only way for politicians to fix it is with a little less talk and a lot more action.
The Constitution provides the remedy for a president who commits “high crimes and misdemeanors.” It’s impeachment.
The only thing necessary to transform America into something unrecognizable is for good men to do nothing!
To be clear, “high crimes and misdemeanors” are not necessarily ordinary criminal offenses. Our Framers used the term to signify a dereliction of duty, and the first duty of the president is to enforce our laws and preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution.

Does history support Palin? Bill Clinton was impeached for perjury. He was accused of grand jury perjury, civil suit perjury, obstruction of justice, and abuse of power.

What about Andrew Jackson? He was impeached for refusing to enforce a law passed by Congress! This is one of the main charges impeachment supporters level against Obama! He is a serial offender.
Johnson, a Southern Democrat who became president after Lincoln's assassination, supported a mild policy of Reconstruction after the Civil War. The Radical Republicans in Congress were furious at his leniency toward ex-Confederates and obvious lack of concern for ex-slaves, demonstrated by his veto of civil rights bills and opposition to the Fourteenth Amendment. To protect Radical Republicans in Johnson's administration and diminish the strength of the president, Congress passed the Tenure of Office Act in 1867, which prohibited the president from dismissing office holders without the Senate's approval. A defiant Johnson tested the constitutionality of the Act by attempting to oust Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. His violation of the Act became the basis for impeachment in 1868. But the Senate was one vote short of the two-thirds majority needed to convict, and Johnson was acquitted May 26, 1868.

It Begins: South Dakota Republican Party Calls For Obama's Impeachment...

Barack Obama is the most lawless president ever. There are 40 laws he is ignoring. It's not because he thinks they are all unconstitutional. He went to the Supreme Court to argue one of them was constitutional and won. It's past time to impeach Obama. Sadly, Boehnor lacks the cohones...

The South Dakota Republican Party state convention passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama Saturday.
The resolution says Obama has "violated his oath of office in numerous ways." It specifically cites the release of five Taliban combatants in a trade for captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, Obama's statement that people could keep insurance companies, and recent EPA regulations on power plants.
"Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States," the resolution reads.

RINO Sen. Lindsey Graham: Repubs will call for Obama's impeachment if he unilaterally releases more from Gitmo

Unfortunately, calling for Obama's impeachment and actually having the balls to do it are not the same thing.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned Wednesday that Republican lawmakers would call for President Obama’s impeachment if he released more prisoners from Guantanamo Bay without congressional approval.
Republicans worry Obama may try to shut down the prison camp unilaterally after congressional opposition has repeatedly stymied efforts to pass legislation to close it.
“It’s going to be impossible for them to flow prisoners out of Gitmo now without a huge backlash,” Graham said. “There will be people on our side calling for his impeachment if he did that.” Graham served as a House prosecutor during former President Clinton’s 1998 impeachment trial.
Congress tried to build in a safeguard against Obama making unilateral decisions on releasing terrorist detainees by including language in the National Defense Authorization Act requiring the administration to alert Congress of such moves at least 30 days in advance.
Obama did not follow that law when he swapped five senior Taliban commanders for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

Black Pastor Trying To Get Obama Impeached...

Money quote:
"this president has done more to hurt the American people than any president"

Via CNS News
During a press conference on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., to announce a signature campaign to impeach U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Rev. Bill Owens said President Barack Obama has “hurt the American people.”
“We’re on a downward road,” Owens, who is founder and president of the Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP), said at the event at the National Press Club. “And this president has done more to hurt the American people than any president, as I see it, in my lifetime and in history.”

Defense: DNC urges supporters to vote for Democrats so that Republicans can’t impeach Obama

There are probably already enough votes in the House to impeach Obama. The House only needs a simple majority. Boehner lacks the cohones to do it. Of course, we would never get the 2/3 majority needed in the Senate to convict.

Via The Daily Caller:
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sent out a paranoid email Saturday evening urging supporters to vote for Democrats so that Republicans can’t impeach President Obama.
The email, subject line “Impeachment,” was sent to Obama for America supporters, imploring them to contribute to the DNC’s 2014 efforts. “What do these people all have in common?,” the email asked, featuring quotes from Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan, and Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas discussing the possibility of impeaching Obama for one of his numerous instances of presidential misconduct.

GOP Rep. Kerry Bentivolio: Writing bill to impeach Obama would be a “dream come true”

Rep. Kerry Bentivolio claims there isn't enough evidence yet. I disagree. Obama violates the law and Constitution almost daily.

Via Politico:
Rep. Kerry Bentivolio told constituents at a town hall Monday that it would be a “dream come true” to write a bill to impeach President Barack Obama, but so far he doesn’t have enough evidence.
The Michigan Republican answered a question at a local Republican club meeting in Birmingham on Monday from a woman who asked about impeaching Obama and who will “stop this runaway train that we have in the White House.”
“If I could write that bill and submit it, it would be a dream come true,” Bentivolio replied, according to video of the event posted to YouTube on Tuesday.
The congressman said he “can’t stand” Obama, but he respects the office of president.
“I feel your pain, I know. I stood 12 feet away from the guy and listened to him, and I couldn’t stand being there. But because he is president, I have to respect the office, that’s my job,” Bentivolio said.
He told the crowd without evidence of wrongdoing, the person who submits any bill to impeach Obama will be made a “laughingstock” by the press, so he’s consulted with lawyers.
Here are thirteen examples of Obama's lawlessness...
Aug. 14, 2013: The Obama administration delayed the provision in ObamaCare to cap out-of-pocket health care costs, picking and choosing parts of the law to enforce, which is to exceed its authority.
July 17, 2013: The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals joined the federal appeals courts in D.C. and Philadelphia in ruling President Obama’s National Labor Relations Board recess appointments — who by law must be approved by Congress — were unconstitutional. Thus far, the president has ignored the ruling.
July 1, 2013: The Obama administration unilaterally decided to delay the employer mandate provision of ObamaCare for a year, which is to provide information to the feds about the extent of an applicant’s insurance. Never mind that the law states the mandate must go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014 — they are now relying on the “honor system” from applicants to determine if they are qualified for subsidies.
June 25, 2013: The Supreme Court ruled in Shelby County v. Eric Holder that Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act is “unconstitutional” and that “the formula can no longer be used as a basis for subjecting jurisdiction to preclearance.” Instead of complying with the ruling, Holder filed suit to order Texas to submit to preclearance, in defiance of Congress’ authority to legislate and the Supreme Court’s authority to rule on the constitutionality of the law.
June 15, 2012: The Obama administration announced it will stop deporting illegal immigrants under the age of 30 in a “deferred action” policy to circumvent immigration laws. This comes after Congress rejected a similar measure about a year ago. Since then, more than 500,000 illegals have received the deferment and only 20,000 have been rejected. As for the law-abiding applicants who have been waiting in line, well, that’s Obama’s idea of “lawfulness.”
May 20, 2013: A Washington Post article revealed that Fox News reporter James Rosen was investigated by the DOJ, which subpoenaed his phone records and emails in direct contravention of the First Amendment under the pretense of a leak investigation. The other 7 are here...

Obama threatened with articles of impeachment...

Well, it's about time...

Via The Daily Caller:
Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.

Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”

“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

Image of the Day: Hacked Construction Sign

Impeach Obama!
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Several electronic road construction signs around Anchorage were hacked late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Signs that normally display closure and detour information, like the one on Minnesota Drive near 100th Avenue, were changed to read “Impeach Obama.” That particular sign wasn’t fixed until sometime between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday.

Hacked North Carolina Road Sign: Impeach Obama

Here is a screen capture.

An electronic DOT road sign was apparently hacked when a displayed message read "Impeach Obama."

DOT officials told WSOC they had not heard of the display when first contacted on Sunday night, but sent an engineer to correct the sign afterward.

Guess Who Is Calling Libya Attack Impeachable Offense? (video)

It's VP Joe Biden. In 2007, he claimed an attack on Iran, by then President Bush, would be an impeachable offense. I bet he wishes he had those words back.

Could Obama be Impeached over Libya? Let's ask Biden

Don't hold your breath waiting for Biden to call for President Obama's impeachment. He would though if he had a shred of credibility left.

Liberals Fuming After Obama Takes Military Action in Libya

Liberal House Democrats aren't taking President Obama decision to authorize military action against Libya well. Dennis Kucinich is talking impeachment.
A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

Kucinich... asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses. Read more here.

Bill O'Reilly Talking Point: Obama Could Face Impeachment If He Pardons Illegals (video)

There are reports President Obama is considering bypassing Congress and granting unilateral amnesty to millions of illegal immigrant if his attempts at immigration reform fail. Bill Oreilly said, "an impeachment movement would explode," if Obama tried this usurpation of congressional authority.

Newsmax reported:
Fox News' Bill O'Reilly is warning that if President Barack Obama ever bypasses Congress and uses his pardon power to make millions of illegal aliens citizens, he could face serious calls for his impeachment.

“If President Obama were to sign an executive order giving illegal aliens amnesty, his career would be over and an impeachment movement would explode,” O'Reilly said Friday night on his “Talking Points” segment during his top-rated Fox show.

At the same time, O'Reilly said he did not believe reports that the Obama administration would grant such a blanket amnesty...

Oh my! “Impeach Obama” Billboard Spotted in Wisconsin

First there is a billboard of former President Bush with the caption "Miss me yet?" in Minnesota. Now, there is an "Impeach Obama" billboard in Wisconsin. President Obama won Minnesota by 10% and Wisconsin by 13% in the 2008 Presidential election. Is this 'buyers remorse?'

Illinois Senate tells Rod Blagojevich to not let the door hit him in the butt on the way out

Personally, I am going to miss this guy. He epitomizes the worst of Democratic politics. He has been an embarrassment to Democrats in general and the State of Illinois. Well, Democrats anyway. He is just following a long tradition of corrupt politicians in Illinois. Wait a minute. Doesn't Barack Obama hail from the State of Illinois?
Illinois Senate Kicks Blagojevich Out of Office
Illinois senators were unswayed by Rod Blagojevich's closing statement delivered earlier in the day in which the former governor insisted that he should not be thrown out of office on what he called incomplete evidence.

Blagojevich impeached

The Illinois House finally got around to impeaching embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich. The vote was 114-1. One vote of "present" was cast by Rep. Elga Jefferies (D-Chicago). I guess she did that to honor President Elect Obama who often used that tactic. In the tradition of Former President Bill Clinton, Blogojevich is refusing to resign.

SPRINGFIELD---In a historic vote, the Illinois House has impeached Gov. Rod Blagojevich, directing the Senate to put the state's 40th chief executive on trial with the goal of removing him from office.

The vote by the House was 114-1 with one member voting "present." It marks the first time in the state's 190-year history that a governor has been impeached, despite Illinois' longstanding reputation for political corruption.

Rep. Milt Patterson (D-Chicago) was the lone vote against impeachment. The "present" vote was cast by Rep. Elga Jefferies (D-Chicago).

A spokesman for the governor said he won't resign. Full story here.
