Actual Good News: Eric Cantor to Hold Hearings on IRS Harassment of Tea Party Groups...

Go get'em...

Via Fox News:
The IRS acknowledging that it targeted conservative political groups during the 2012 election season has sparked bipartisan calls for investigation — with House Republicans already saying they will hold a hearing on the issue.
House Majority Speaker Eric Cantor said Friday the Republican-led chamber would investigate the tax-collecting agency for flagging the groups for additional review to see whether they were violating their tax-exempt status.
“The IRS cannot target or intimidate any individual or organization based on their political beliefs,” the Virginia Republican said.
Cantor’s comments were followed within minutes by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp saying he would hold a hearing.
The IRS on Friday apologized for targeting groups, but Camp, R-Mich., argued the agency had “repeatedly denied” such activity.
“The admission by the agency that it targeted American taxpayers based on politics is both shocking and disappointing,” he said.
The committee has jurisdiction over IRS, but it remains unclear whether other House committees also will investigate the issue, in which roughly 300 groups were flagged.

Eric Cantor to Obama: Your Jobs Bill Is Dead

Eric Cantor says the "all-or-nothing approach" is dead in the House.
(CNS)- At a Capitol Hill briefing on Monday, a reporter asked Cantor whether the "jobs package as a package [was] dead?"

Cantor said, "yes," and shortly thereafter said, “It seems as if the president is in full campaign mode. The president continues to say ‘pass my bill in its entirety.’ As I’ve said from the outset, this all-or-nothing approach is just not acceptable.”

Cantor also questioned whether Obama had the votes for his jobs bill in the Democrat-controlled Senate, saying that the president had some “whipping” to do.

The "Pass the Bill" Remix

President Obama demanded Congress pass his jobs bill 17 times during his speech to Congress and the American people. Actually, there isn't a bill yet. All we have is a speech. After the speech, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was disappointed President Obama was presenting this as an all or nothing plan. Cantor said there were some ideas in Obama's speech that Republicans had been talking about for a long time and seemed open-minded about working with Democrats to implement them, but there seemed to be zero chance of the House GOP engaging in class warfare and implementing President Obama's plan in total.

Heartache: Pelosi already has a date to the SOTU

Nancy Pelosi turned down House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's quest to be be her SOTU sweetheart. Is Barney Frank still available?
(The Hill)- House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) invited Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to sit next to him at the State of the Union address — but the former House Speaker says she’s already committed.
“I thank @GOPLeader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. [Roscoe] Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted,” Pelosi tweeted.
The invitation from Cantor was made Monday evening through staffers for the two leaders, spokesman Brad Dayspring said.
Am I the only on who thinks this is just silly theatrics?

Sorry the Stimulus Bill Isn't Working (video)

Sorry the Stimulus Bill Isn't Working. That is the message delivered by House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) in this weeks Republican address.

7/11/09 Weekly Republican Address: House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA)

Eric Cantor:
House Republicans have offered an economic recovery plan that will create twice the jobs at half the cost for hard working Americans. The House GOP plan does not include wasteful pet projects and it ensures that the funding immediately goes into effect. No waste, just jobs.
