Confirmed: Lockerbie bomber release was linked to a commercial deal...

Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset  al-Megrahi was released in 2009; allegedly on humanitarian grounds because he was near death. He lived 3 more years. That wasn't Britain's finest moment...

Via The Telegraph:
An email sent by the then British ambassador in Tripoli details how a prisoner transfer agreement would be signed once Libya “fulfils its promise” to buy an air defence system.
The disclosure is embarrassing for members of the then Labour government, which always insisted that Abdelbaset al-Megrahi’s release was not linked to commercial deals.
The email, which contained a briefing on the UK’s relations with Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, was sent on June 8 2008 by Sir Vincent Fean, the then UK ambassador, to Tony Blair’s private office, ahead of a visit soon after he stepped down as prime minister.
Mr Blair flew to Tripoli to meet Gaddafi on June 10, in a private jet provided by the dictator, one of at least six visits Mr Blair made to Libya after quitting Downing Street.

Feel Good Story: Lockerbie bomber al-Megrahi is dead

Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was released three years ago because Great Britain wanted to make a Libyan oil deal he allegedly had only a few months to live. He has finally assumed room temperature. Let's hope he enjoys 72 goats in Hell.

Via BBC:
Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the only person convicted over the 1988 Lockerbie bombing above Scotland, which killed 270 people, has died at home in Libya, his brother has told news agencies.

Megrahi, 59, was convicted by a special court in the Netherlands in 2001.

He was released from prison in Scotland in 2009 on compassionate grounds. He was suffering from cancer and was said to have only months to live.

When he returned to the Libyan capital, he received a hero's welcome.

His brother Abdulhakim said on Sunday that Megrahi's health had deteriorated quickly and he died at home in Tripoli.

Lockerbie bomber rises from dead and shows up at Pro Moammar Gadhafi rally

Just kidding. In spite of the fact we were told he had only three months to live, he is still alive and kicking two years later. This was a shameful episode in the history of Great Britain.
Foreign Secretary William Hague has said a TV appearance by the Lockerbie bomber will intensify the "anger and outrage" at his release from jail.

Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was at a rally broadcast by Libyan state television.

Mr Hague said it was "a further reminder that a great mistake was made" when he was freed by the Scottish government nearly two years ago.

Scots Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said all the rules on compassionate release had been followed.

Mr Hague said the medical advice on which the decision had been made now appeared to be "pretty much worthless".

Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray added that events had shown "how wrong" the move had been.
Don't you love the fake outrage over the Lockerbie bomber release?

Lockerbie Bomber ‘On The Verge Of Death’

Let's hope he enjoys 72 camels in hell.
(Fox News) – A source close to the family of the Lockerbie bomber Abdul Baset al Megrahi told Sky News Thursday his death is imminent and every day is “expected to be his last.”

Suffering from prostate cancer, the Libyan’s health has rapidly deteriorated — and his relatives said he has been in a coma and on life support for around a week.

Al Megrahi — who was convicted of killing 270 people by bombing a Pan Am jet in 1988 — has been unable to walk for a number of weeks and is not expected to recover.

A source close to his family told Sky News: “He is on life support and has been for some days. Many people have been waiting for him to die.

Lockerbie Bomber Skipped Medication and Refused Chemo to Deteriorate His Condition and Secure Release

We have now learned from the Daily Mail convicted Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, refused chemo and skipped medication in what appears to have been a successful attempt to secure his release on humanitarian grounds for having terminal prostrate cancer. Megrahi was supposed to have 3 months or less to live. Of course that was one year ago. We now know the doctors treating his cancer weren't even consulted before his release. After President Obama claimed he was "surprised, disappointed and angry" at the release, we have found out the U.S. Government was consulted and they backed the release. Since his release to Libya, Al Megrahi has resumed taking his medication and is undergoing chemo therapy. According to doctors, he could live ten more years. How could the British have been so stupid and naive? Oh, they wanted an oil deal for BP.

The Daily Mail reported:

Dr Andrew Fraser, the Scottish doctor responsible for assessing Megrahi’s health a year ago, had assured the Government that the bomber was resistant to treatment – assumed to mean that body was not responding. But in fact Megrahi chose to refuse the treatment, ITV have claimed. It is understood that Megrahi discussed the treatment with Scottish doctors but said he would only undergo it with support of his family, who were in Libya.

Notes of a meeting on July last year, which have been released by the Scottish Government, report that doctors told Megrahi that he needed to ‘take his medication regularly’ – suggesting that he had skipping doses that would have improved his health.

Obama Admin Urged British Officials to Use "Compassion" Fiction as Reason for Lockerbie Bomber Release

We now know the Lockerbie bomber may live another ten years, in spite of being released on the humanitarianism fiction he had only three months to live. Where did the British get the idea for this farce? They may have gotten it from the Obama administration. Politics UK is reporting, deputy head of the US Embassy in London Richard LeBaron, sent the following letter to to Alex Salmond, Scottish first minister.
It read: "If Scottish authorities come to the conclusion that Megrahi must be released from custody, the US position is that conditional release on compassionate grounds would be a far preferable alternative to prisoner transfer."

This is a slap in the face of victims families.

Lockerbie bomber will be dead in ten years or something

We were told this piece of excrement had only three months to live when he was released and allowed to return to Libya. Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi, was released last August with what was billed as terminal prostrate cancer. He was supposed to be dead in 12 weeks. He is still alive. Now we are told he could last another 10 years.

The Mail Online reported:
The doctor who predicted the Lockerbie bomber would die within three months of his release from prison faced calls to apologise to victims' families last night.

There was outrage after it emerged Professor Karol Sikora had admitted Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi could live for another ten years or more despite diagnosing him with terminal cancer...

Shameful: Lockerbie Bomber May Live Another 5 Years

The British released Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi because he allegedly only had three months to live. Seven months later, we hear he is doing well and could live another five years. This is a shameful episode in British history.
The Lockerbie bomber is at the center of a fresh row after it emerged he is taking a cancer drug that could keep him alive for five more years, The Sun reported.

Terminally ill Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was prescribed chemotherapy treatment Taxotere after returning to Libya.

But on Sunday it was reported he wasn't given the drug while he was in Greenock prison in Scotland - amid claims he could have been kept behind bars...

Lockerbie bomber alive and living in the lap of luxury

We were told the Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi, had less than three months to live. Six months later, he seems to be well and living in the lap of luxury. His elderly father is even talking about the possibility his son will beat prostrate cancer.
Freed from his life sentence, the Lockerbie bomber was sent home by the Scots on compassionate grounds because he had 'just three months' to live.

But six months later, Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi is still living - and doing it in the lap of luxury.

Yesterday, his elderly father even held out the prospect of him beating the prostate cancer that doctors said would kill him by last Christmas.

So, why is this monster really free? The answer may be money.
Earlier this month it emerged that Libya was on the brink of agreeing £5billion in investment in Britain.

Critics believe Downing Street colluded with the Scots to pave the way by having Megrahi freed.

The news of Megrahi's survival has provoked consternation among those relatives of victims of the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 who suspect he was never as sick as he claimed to be.

The more we learn about the Lockerbie bomber's release, the worse it gets

The more we learn about the Lockerbie bomber's release, the worse it gets. There is now confirmation Libya paid for the medical diagnosis that allowed the Lockerbie bomber to go free. This finding that he had only three months to live conflicted with other medical experts opinions.

From the Telegraph:
Medical evidence that helped Megrahi, 57, to be released was paid for by the Libyan government, which encouraged three doctors to say he had only three months to live...

Megrahi is suffering from terminal prostate cancer. Two of the three doctors commissioned by the Libyans provided the required three-month estimates, while the third also indicated that the prisoner had a short time to live.

This contrasted with findings of doctors in June and July who had concluded that Megrahi had up to 10 months to live, which would have prevented his release.

The British government was motivated by an oil deal..

TIMESONLINE
reported:
The British government decided it was “in the overwhelming interests of the United Kingdom” to make Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, eligible for return to Libya, leaked ministerial letters reveal.

Gordon Brown’s government made the decision after discussions between Libya and BP over a multi-million-pound oil exploration deal had hit difficulties. These were resolved soon afterwards.

The letters were sent two years ago by Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to Kenny MacAskill, his counterpart in Scotland, who has been widely criticised for taking the formal decision to permit Megrahi’s release.

The correspondence makes it plain that the key decision to include Megrahi in a deal with Libya to allow prisoners to return home was, in fact, taken in London for British national interests.

It is unclear what was in the deal for the Obama administration, but they knew exactly what was going on all along.

The Daily Mail reported:

‘The US was kept fully in touch about everything that was going on with regard to Britain’s discussions with Libya in recent years and about Megrahi,’
said the Whitehall aide.

‘We would never do anything about Lockerbie without discussing it with the US. It is disingenuous of them to act as though Megrahi’s return was out of the blue.

'They knew about our prisoner transfer agreement with Libya and they knew that the Scots were considering Megrahi’s case.’

Does the released Lockerbie bomber really have less than three months to live?

Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi (right) meeting with freed Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi in Tripoli

Does the released Lockerbie bomber really have less than three months to live? The answer isn't clear. Apparently only one doctor would certify that diagnosis and he may have been working for the Libyans. Labour and Conservative politicians, along with the families of the Lockerbie victims, are demanding answers. Scottish government officials are stonewalling.

From The Scotsman:

JUSTICE secretary Kenny MacAskill was last night under pressure to reveal more details of the medical evidence that led to the release of the Lockerbie bomber, after it emerged that only one doctor was willing to say Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi had less than three months to live.

Labour and Conservative politicians have demanded the Scottish Government publish details of the doctor's expertise and qualifications, amid suggestions he or she may not have been a prostate cancer expert.

The parties have also raised questions over whether the doctor was employed by the Libyan government or Megrahi's legal team, which could have influenced the judgment.

According to the report that was the basis of the decision,
And suggestions that the doctor who gave the prognosis may have been employed by the Libyan government emerged in the report's notes. It said that a professor from Libya had been involved in Megrahi's care and the medical officer who wrote the report had been "working with clinicians from Libya over the past ten months".
