DEVELOPING – The Pentagon said late Thursday it had launched an airstrike in Syria targeting "Jihadi John", a British national seen in videos depicting the beheading of hostages held by ISIS.
Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook confirmed that the airstrike in Raqqa was directed at the notorious militant, also known as Mohamed Emwazi. It was not immediately clear whether Emwazi died in the airstrike, but a senior U.S. military official told Fox News, "we are 99 percent sure we got him." The Pentagon was monitoring the aftermath of the strike before making a definitive announcement.
A senior U.S. defense official told Fox News that a drone was used in the airstrike. According to a senior military source, the drone had been tracking Emwazi for most of the day Thursday while he met with other people. The source said the strike took place shortly after Emwazi came out of a building in Raqqa, when he was "ID'd and engaged."

Libtards use death of Shirley Temple to trash her for being Republican...
Saddest part about Shirley Temple dying: I learned on Wikipedia that she spent most of her post-acting life working for the Republican Party
— Andre Nantel (@nantel) February 11, 2014
Well, Shirley Temple was a Republican.

Twenty years from now most of the Republican Party will be dead. Shirley Temple was just another old conservative who now can't vote.

Shirley Temple Black was an inspiration to so many child stars who dreamed of becoming adult Republican idiots.

I dunno. I though Shirley Temple died when she became an active Republican.

I had no idea Shirley Temple was such a staunch Republican. I guess the "Good Ship Lollipop" was really a INS deportation boat.

Actual good news: Chechen rebel warlord who threatened to attack the Sochi Olympics is dead
I'll bet it didn't tale Putin 16 hours to make up his mind to approve this mission.
Via CBS:
Via CBS:
MOSCOW — A Chechen rebel warlord who has plagued the region for decades and most recently threatened to attack the Sochi Olympics is dead, Chechnya’s Kremlin-backed strongman said Thursday, but he offered no proof and his claim couldn’t be verified.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said on his Instagram that Doku Umarov, who urged his fighters to strike the Games, had died — a claim he has made repeatedly in the past. The information about Umarov’s death came from intercepted communications between other rebel leaders who were discussing his replacement, he said, but he didn’t make clear when the conversation took place or how it was heard.
This time, however, multiple messages on Chechen jihadist web forums – including an audio recording from top Islamic sharia judge Abu Mohammed Ali Daghestani, who is affiliated with Umarov’s movement, confirmed his death.
Messages posted on Chechen militant blog sites suggested he was killed in an operation by Russian special forces, but none gave a time or specific place for the alleged killing.

Actual Good News: Gang Of Eight Immigration Bill Dead For 2013
Harry Reid and John McCain hardest hit...
Via The Hill:
Via The Hill:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) chided Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for his refusal to negotiate with the Senate on immigration reform.
“I'm stunned,” Reid said in an interview Wednesday with Fusion, a joint venture by ABC News and Univision. “How could anybody in good conscience tell one group he's trying to do immigration reform, and a few minutes later, say 'I'm not going to do anything about a conference?' "
Earlier in the day, Boehner reiterated what he’s said before on immigration reform: “I'll make clear we have no intention ever of going to conference on the Senate bill."
His comments confirmed the House will not take up the issue this year, which President Obama and Democrats have pressed for. Last week, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) also ruled it out for 2013, arguing there are too few legislative days remaining in this session.

Obama On Death Of Margaret Thatcher: “Michelle And I Carry On The Work To Which She Dedicated Her Life”…(Barf Alert)
Obama claiming to have anything in common with the "Iron Lady" Baroness Margaret Thatcher makes me want to hurl. She entered office in 1979 determined to reverse the socialism that she believed had done great harm to the economy. The same kind of creeping socialism Obama is trying to institute here in America.
Statement from the President on the Passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher — White House
Statement from the President on the Passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher — White House
“With the passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher, the world has lost one of the great champions of freedom and liberty, and America has lost a true friend. As a grocer’s daughter who rose to become Britain’s first female prime minister, she stands as an example to our daughters that there is no glass ceiling that can’t be shattered. As prime minister, she helped restore the confidence and pride that has always been the hallmark of Britain at its best. And as an unapologetic supporter of our transatlantic alliance, she knew that with strength and resolve we could win the Cold War and extend freedom’s promise.
“Here in America, many of us will never forget her standing shoulder to shoulder with President Reagan, reminding the world that we are not simply carried along by the currents of history—we can shape them with moral conviction, unyielding courage and iron will. Michelle and I send our thoughts to the Thatcher family and all the British people as we carry on the work to which she dedicated her life—free peoples standing together, determined to write our own destiny.”

Goodbye and good riddance: North Korea’s Kim Jong Il Dead
Let's hope the next ruler is sane.
PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — Kim Jong Il, North Korea’s mercurial and enigmatic longtime leader, has died of heart failure. He was 69.
In a “special broadcast” Monday from the North Korean capital, state media said Kim died of a heart ailment on a train due to a “great mental and physical strain” on Dec. 17 during a “high intensity field inspection.” It said an autopsy was done on Dec. 18 and “fully confirmed” the diagnosis.
Kim is believed to have suffered a stroke in 2008, but he had appeared relatively vigorous in photos and video from recent trips to China and Russia and in numerous trips around the country carefully documented by state media. The communist country’s “Dear Leader” – reputed to have had a taste for cigars, cognac and gourmet cuisine – was believed to have had diabetes and heart disease.

Another Top Al Qaeda Commander Bites The Dust
Ilyas Kashmiri had been touted as a replacement for Osama bin Laden. Now, they can have a reunion in Hell.
Fox News — A top Al Qaeda commander and possible replacement for Usama bin Laden was killed in an American drone-fired missile strike close to the Afghan border, the militant group he heads and a Pakistani intelligence official said Saturday.
Ilyas Kashmiri’s death is another blow to Al Qaeda just over a month after bin Laden was killed by American commandos in a northwest Pakistani army town. Described by U.S. officials as Al Qaeda’s military operations chief in Pakistan, he was one of five most-wanted militant leaders in the country, accused in a string of bloody attacks, including the 2008 Mumbai massacre.

Two-Thirds in Pakistan Do Not Believe Bin Laden is Dead
Just release the picture.
(MailOnline)- Abdul cheerfully told me how he had lain awake five nights earlier and heard the thump of American helicopters as they swooped on the world’s most wanted man. So what did he think about the death of Osama Bin Laden.
Oh, I don’t believe he is dead,’ he said. ‘If someone was shot in that house, it was not him. You cannot trust the Americans, they have changed their story so many times already.’
Abdul is not alone in his disbelief. A survey found two-thirds of people in Pakistan share his refusal to accept Bin Laden’s death, despite confirmation by Al Qaeda. Even the country’s most revered lawyer told me ‘the ghost of Osama has survived his execution’ given the lack of concrete evidence, storing up problems for the future.

Crowd at Ground Zero Celebrates Bin Laden Death By Singing National Anthem
This is a fantastic video!
US Kills Osama Bin Laden
This is the best news this year.
(ABC News)- The president called the killing of bin Laden the "most significant achievement to date" in the effort to defeat al Qaeda.Bin Laden was hiding out in a Pakistani community of retired military outside the Capitol of Islamabad. This doesn't say much about how trustworthy the Pakistani military is.
"Justice has been done," Obama said.
Bin Laden was located at a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, which was monitored and when the time was determined to be right, the president said, he authorized a "targeted operation."
"A small team of Americans carried out the operation," Obama said. "After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."
DNA testing confirmed that it was bin Laden, sources told ABC News.

The Death of Net Neutrality?
Pretty much everyone who pledged to support it lost last Tuesday. Having the government exert more control over the Internet doesn't seem to be popular with voters.
TPMDC reported:
The FCC's push for Net Neutrality legislation suffered another setback on Tuesday, after 95 of the candidates who pledged their support for it lost their elections.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee site has had a list of 95 candidates, all Democrats, listed on netneutralityprotectors.com/ as pledged supporters of Net Neutrality.
But, as CNN Money reports, all of them lost.
