Today The USS Rubio Will Capsize and Sink in a Florida Trumpcane...

It's over for Marco Rubio. He will be lucky to get second in his home state. His failure tracks back to the Gang of Eight and his inability to address that huge mistake.
It is widely anticipated that Marco Rubio is going to get shellacked on his home turf in Tuesday's Florida presidential primary. A very unsympathetic Friday profile in the Tampa Bay Times suggests that part of the reason this is so is that Rubio's entire career has consisted of sweet-talking influential individuals into giving him big opportunities only to drop those individuals like hot rocks when another better thing comes along. The idea is that now, when he needs home-state support more than ever, Rubio has no one on the ground to rely on; a number of past allies in fact went on the record to tell the Times exactly how little they like lil' Marco and how bad he is at actually doing the jobs he's chosen for.

Flashback: Marco Rubio was once a registered lobbyist?

Hmm...
Boy we missed this one: former House Speaker Marco Rubio and U.S. Senate candidate was a Miami-Dade County lobbyist from 1997 (when he was a West Miami Commissioner) until 2005. By then, he secured the needed votes to become House Speaker. Also that year, he reported a new salary of $300k with his new firm, Broad & Cassel, which has had dozens of clients who do business with the state.
Rubio never talked about his lobbying and that's because, his campaign said, he wasn't really a lobbyist. He was a lawyer representing clients.
"The reason Marco Rubio never spoke about his “lobbying” is because he was never a “lobbyist,” in the Tallahassee-influence-peddling sense of the word that Charlie Crist is all too familiar with," said campaign spokesman Alex Burgos, who has wayyyy more to say on this below****.  More here...
Perhaps Rubio deserves the Establishment label.

Chris Christie calls Marco Rubio "boy in the bubble”

War...

Via Breitbart:
Chris Christie is not finished with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).
Speaking to a gaggle of reporters, the New Jersey Governor mocked Rubio as “the boy in the bubble” who continued to ignore his record on contentious issues like immigration reform.
“I’m not the boy in the bubble … you know who the boy in the bubble is up here – who never answers your questions, who’s constantly scripted and controlled, because he can’t answer your questions,” he said this morning, using the phrase “boy in the bubble” five times in only a few minutes.
Christie defied the media narrative that Rubio’s third place win in Iowa would help him sew up establishment support. He challenged reporters to take on Rubio once he got to New Hampshire, pointing out that the freshman senator was too cautious and scripted.
“Time for him to man up and step up and stop letting all of his handlers write his speeches and handle him, because that’s what they do,” Christie said. “But that’s what you have to do for someone who has never done anything in life.”

RINO Alert: Rubio wants to expand the 1993 Family & Medical Leave Act...

The FMLA Act is one of those things that sound like a good idea, but are rife for abuse. We have all heard stories about someone being fired for taking off to care for a spouse dying of cancer or some other horrible disease. Having been in management for almost 30 years, I can tell you that would be a rare thing at most companies. Good employees are hard to replace and most managers have some level of compassion. The FMLA Act imposed a one-size-fits-all government solution on what was a rare problem. If we add pay to FMLA, it will become like unemployment. Many people on unemployment won't even seriously look for a job until the unemployment is about to end.

Via Boston Newstime:
Sen. Marco Rubio on Friday called for expanding the 1993 Family & Medical Leave Act – a central part of President Bill Clinton’s initial agenda upon taking office – to allow more American parents to spend more time with their families in need.
Speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., Rubio said he wants to shore up the 23-year-old law because it has grown ‘insufficient’ for modern times.
Rubio reminded the audience that his parents were both born to poor families in Cuba, and only came to America after their marriage in 1956.
‘One of the reasons I am so privileged is that I was born to two parents who were able to be a constant presence in the lives of their children,’ Rubio said.
Rubio wants to offer businesses a 25 percent tax credit for offering employees paid leave instead of unpaid time off.

Powerhouse: Rubio already has $40 million committed to his campaign...

Clearly a contender with that kind of early cash...
(Reuters) – Less than a week after announcing his 2016 campaign for president, Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida doesn’t need to worry about money.
It’s as good as in the bank.
“Marco Rubio will have the resources necessary to run a first-class campaign, that’s already been determined,” said billionaire Florida auto dealer Norman Braman, a former Jeb Bush supporter who is now one of Rubio’s highest-silhouette donors.
Annandale Capital founder George Seay, who is hosting a Rubio fundraiser with the moneyed Dallas elite at his 7,000-square-foot, seven-bath home on Tuesday, said: “Marco has had zero trouble raising money.”
At least seven other Rubio mega donors say their candidate has already received monetary commitments in excess of the $40 million he will likely need to battle through a presidential primary season that will feature a crowd of seasoned Republican candidates with strong financial backing.

Tweet of the Day: Contrasts...

Out of the Republicans who we are sure are pretty sure are running in 2016, two are Hispanic, one is married to a Hispanic, one is female and another is black.  We have three governors or former governors, two are Senators, one, Carly Fiorina,  is the former CEO of a large tech company and one is a world class doctor. Most are baby boomers, Mike Huckabee would be the exception. Of course a couple of these could never announce and there will undoubtedly be some others who do. Republicans candidates have a lot of diversity and a wide range of experiences. The GOP is suddenly the party of diversity. Don't expect the mainstream media to point this out. The Democrats have Hillary and perhaps a white liberal northeastern governor.  Hillary is an old, rich, and paranoid based on the private email server, white woman whose main claim to fame is she is married to Monica Lewinsky's ex boyfriend. To top it off, Hillary has no charisma. Would you want to have a beer with her?

Rubio tries to get right on immigration...

Can he be trusted?

Via WSJ
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said Friday that he is indebted to America for welcoming his Cuban immigrant parents, while he continued to back away from his 2013 legislation that would have allowed illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens.
Mr. Rubio, a likely presidential contender, was a major sponsor of a bill that was cast by conservatives as bestowing amnesty on law-breaking immigrants. “It wasn’t very popular. I don’t know if you know that from some of the folks here,” he quipped to an audience of hundreds of activists gathered for the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The bill’s critics were proven right, Mr. Rubio said, by what he described as President Barack Obama’s failure to enforce border security. He said immigration legislation is still necessary, not to integrate undocumented workers into society, as some say, but to make sure employers can’t hire illegal immigrants. Mr. Rubio also condemned President Obama’s executive order shielding millions of illegal immigrants from deportation as unconstitutional. Keep on reading...

Rubio's stock rises as Christie's falls...

Can the base forgive Marco Rubio for his gang of seven immigration reform betrayal?  Perhaps, but Rubio has yet to do a complete mea culpa and ask for forgiveness...

Via The Hill:
A group of Republican fundraising heavyweights and wise men in Washington’s business community are solidly behind Rubio, and see him not only as someone who could win the White House, but someone they can work with…
Political strategists think Rubio’s chances of winning the GOP nomination in 2016 are looking better because of the bridge scandal embroiling New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) decision to forego a White House bid to aim for the gavel of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee…
But first, Rubio would face the difficult choice of whether to opt for a presidential run when it could cost him his Senate seat.
Florida law does not allow Rubio to run simultaneously for the Senate and the White House in 2016, when his seat in the Senate is up.

Marco Rubio Retreats From Senate Gang of Eight Immigration Bill He Supported..

This is a step in the right direction for Rubio, but it is too little and too late in my opinion.  It's unlikely the Senate could have passed their crappy immigration reform illegal immigrant amnesty bill without Rubio's support. Aside from the fact it put's 10 million or more potential democratic voters illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship. There was no real enforcement to the border security provisions or other parts Republicans would support. It's likely Obama would just ignore the border security and E-Verify provisions just like he is ignoring the parts of current immigration law he disagrees with. Rubio was very naive to trust Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Marco Rubio needs to do a complete mea culpa and apologize for his stupidity.

Amnesty Blow-back: Sen. Marco Rubio tied for 6th in New Hampshire 2016 poll...

Sen. Marco Rubio has done serious damage to his image and credibility with Republicans and Conservatives. Supporting Sen. Chuck Schumer's "Gang of Eight" amnesty without border security bill has cost him. Senate democrats were desperate to get Rubio on-board. it's unclear why he signed on for and campaigned for such a bad deal. The Schumer bill will legalize more than 11 million new democratic borders and has no serious enforcement of border security.
The latest Granite State poll by WMUR and the University of New Hampshire was released late on Tuesday and it shows U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., sinking in New Hampshire, home of the first presidential primary. Rubio is expected to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. In recent months. Rubio has drawn fire from conservatives for his prominent role in supporting immigration reform.

The poll finds New Hampshire Republicans divided on who they want to see as their party’s nominee in 2016. Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey leads the pack with 21 percent followed by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., with 16 percent. Former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida is in third with 10 percent followed by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., with 8 percent and Rubio with 6 percent. Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania is tied with two Texans -- Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz -- in sixth with 4 percent each. Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin takes 2 percent. Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and two Ohio Republicans -- Gov. John Kasich and U.S. Sen. Rob Portman -- all take less than 1 percent.
Ted Cruz identified the flaws in the bill Rubio supported in this letter:

Arizona sheriff to Rubio: "You know nothing about our border."

I like Rubio and understand his motivation to get an immigration bill done.  Most conservatives support some sort of immigration bill. However, the devil is in the details and many don't want a path to citizenship for millions who came here illegally and the border security part of the bill has to be ironclad. Rubio let Schumer sell him a bad bill. He should admit it and walk away. We can do immigration reform when we control both the House and Senate.

Vie The Blaze:
Sitting at a local eatery under the shadow of the Huachuca Mountains, he questioned how much time, if any, the law makers who drafted SB 774 –  known as the ”Gang of Eight” bill — had actually spent on the border. Dannels, along with residents living on the Southwest border and local senior law enforcement officials told TheBlaze on a recent trip to Arizona that they were left out of the decision making process on border security.  They say the Gang of Eight bill just isn’t good enough when it comes to addressing the complex security issues they deal with every day.

“Look at (Sen. Marco) Rubio out of Florida — have you been down here, Rubio?” he said, noting that drug cartels had just replaced a radio relay station on the mountain that the sheriff’s team had taken down less than three weeks earlier.[...]

Home invasions, burglary, theft, destruction of private property — and a constant fear that it’s only going to get worse — is something Cochise County border residents live with daily.

“I say to myself, ‘Rubio, you’re making decisions for me, for my state, for my county, my city when you haven’t even been here – what an insult,  what do you know about our border?  You know nothing about our border. Yet you’re making those decisions without even speaking to us.’”

Marco Rubio's pandering for the Hispanic vote seems to be failing...

This is good evidence conservatives have been correct about the Hispanic vote all along. They are not one issue immigration voters. Many are a natural democratic constituency because they are heavily dependent on entitlements and want to keep getting their free stuff.

Via Politico:
In a potential 2016 presidential election matchup, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would beat Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) among Latinos, a poll out Monday shows.
Clinton is the favorite to Rubio 66 percent to 28 percent, the survey from Latino Decisions reports. Rubio also loses in a potential matchup against Vice President Joe Biden 60 percent to 28 percent.
In all the potential 2016 matchups featured in the poll, Clinton and Biden beat former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Rubio handily.
