Obama spending $400 million to bolster your "human right" to high-speed internet

How about a human right to keep our money away from greedy politicians who want to redistribut our wealth?
(Judicial Watch) — Following a laughable United Nations declaration that high-speed internet access is a basic human right, the Obama Administration is investing north of $400 million to expand broadband into poor, rural areas of the U.S.

The president has long asserted that broadband access is essential for communities to compete on a “level playing field” and he’s included it among the necessities to improve the lives of rural Americans. The agency in charge of distributing the money — the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) — took it a step further this week, asserting that high speed internet connections will help low-income residents in a variety of unimaginable areas.

For instance, it will “improve healthcare and educational opportunities,” according to Obama’s Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. Broadband will also help the poor “connect to global markets,” Vilsack said, and it will provide “much-needed services to rural businesses and residents.” The investment, presumably on the part of the government, will also “increase jobs” in rural areas, Vilsack assures.

Insanity on Steroids: North Korea Now Heads U.N. Conference on Disarmament

As if we needed another reason to get out of the U.N...
(Daily Caller) — In the latest ‘you’ve got to be kidding’ news from the United Nations, North Korea assumed the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament Tuesday.

“Bare months after the U.N. finally suspended Libya’s Col. Muammar Qaddafi from its Human Rights Council, North Korea wins the propaganda coup of heading the world’s disarmament agency,” the executive director of UN Watch Hillel Neuer said in a statement protesting the move. “It’s asking the fox to guard the chickens, and damages the U.N.’s credibility.”

According to the U.N. summary of the meeting, North Korea’s So Se Pyong addressed the 65-member arms control forum, saying that “he was very much committed to the Conference and during his presidency he welcomed any sort of constructive proposals that strengthened the work and credibility of the body.”

Eleven countries walk out of Ahmadinejad’s Israel-bashing UN speech

Yes. The United States was one of them. It is sad we have to wonder if our government did the right thing when dealing with despots, but that is the country we live in today. Reportedly, the eleven countries were Argentina, Australia, Britain, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, New Zealand … and the United States.

Buying the Presidency: $700 million, Bankrupting America: $9 trillion, Gaddafi Endorsing you: Priceless

In his U.N. speech today, Moammar Gaddafi called Barack Obama,"our son" and "our Obama," and said, "The election of Obama is the beginning of change." Gaddafi also said, "We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president." It doesn't get any better than having a despot endorse you in front of a world audience. Nice going, President Obama.

The Washington Post reported:

But when it came to America's 44th president, Gaddafi offered only warm words, calling him "our son" and "our Obama," and saying, "The election of Obama is the beginning of change."

"We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president," Gaddafi said during a rambling, 95-minute speech during which he read from notes, exhausted at least one of his interpreters, threw the U.N. schedule into disarray, and put much of his audience to sleep.

UN slaps North Korea's hand and sends them to bed without their milk and cookies

The UN agreed today on a statement to condemn North Korea's missile launch. The statement condemns the launch and calls for unspecified additional sanctions. This is the weakest response besides completely ignoring the event. Japan caved in on their demand for a new resolution against the North Koreans. A statement is not even legally binding according to some experts. Here is the story from breitbart.com.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Key Security Council nations reached agreement Saturday on a statement that would condemn North Korea's rocket launch and toughen U.N. sanctions against the reclusive communist nation.

The five permanent veto-wielding members—the U.S., China, Russia, Britain and France—and Japan reached agreement after Tokyo backed down from a demand that the Security Council adopt a new resolution, the strongest response the U.N.'s most powerful body can give.

They distributed the text of the proposed presidential statement to the nine other council members, who must now consult their capitals. Libya's deputy U.N. ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi said he expects the council to meet again Monday.

A presidential statement is considered a weaker reaction by the council, and while the U.S. insists it is legally binding, others do not.

Obama fails to get UN to do anything about North Korean missile launch

When North Korea launched their missile, President Obama said the following,
''This morning, we were reminded again why we need a new and more rigorous approach to address this threat. North Korea broke the rules once more by testing a rocket that could be used for a long-range missile,'' Obama said at the outdoor speech in central Prague.

''This provocation underscores the need for action, not just . . . at the U.N. Security Council but in our determination to prevent the spread of these weapons,'' he said. ``Rules must be binding. Violations must be punished. Words must mean something.'' (excerpt) read more at miamiherald.com

The U.N. Security council met for three hours in emergency session following the rocket launch. They couldn't agree to do anything. When dealing with the U.N., words mean nothing. President Bush understood this fact. President Obama is still living in a fantasy world.
UN fails to agree response on NKorea launch

After three hours of closed-door talks, the UN Security Council failed to reach agreement on how to respond to North Korea's long-range rocket launch seen by most Western nations as a clear violation of UN resolutions.

"Members of the Security Council agreed to continue consultations on an appropriate action by the council in accordance with its responsibilities given the urgency of the matter," Mexico's UN Ambassador Claude Heller, the council chair this month, told reporters after Sunday's meeting.

The United States and Japan, which called for the meeting in response to what they view as Pyongyang's "provocative act," said the launch of a three-stage Taepodong-2 missile, with an estimated range of 4,100 miles (6,700 kilometers) violated Security Council resolution 1718.
