Six Italian seismologists jailed for failing to predict earthquake cleared of manslaughter charge...

Six Italian seismologists were previously given six years sentences for manslaughter for failing to predict earthquakes. An appeals court has now cleared them. Local citizens are angry with the decision. This is what happens when socialists control your educational system for many years.

Six seismologists accused of misleading the public about the risk of an earthquake in Italy were cleared of manslaughter on 10 November. An appeals court overturned their six-year prison sentences and reduced to two years the sentence for a government official who had been convicted with them.
The magnitude-6.3 earthquake struck the historic town of L’Aquila in the early hours of 6 April 2009, killing more than 300 people.
The finding by a three-judge appeals court prompted many L’Aquila citizens who were waiting outside the courtroom to react with rage, shouting “shame” and saying that the Italian state had just acquitted itself, local media reported. But it comes as a relief to scientists around the world who had been following the unprecedented case with alarm.

Another Obama lie: His promise to Haiti after the earthquake...

President Obama promised the people of Haiti that "you will not be forsaken; you will not be forgotten." That appears to have been another lie. It's four years later and Haiti is still in ruins. Most of their rebuilding help has come from Venezuela. I guess Obama was too busy ramming Obamacare down our throats and having the NSA spy on our phones and email to follow up on his promise.

"We are going to press on the accelerator to advance the main projects, and Haitians will be proud of reconstruction," Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe told the press Friday, presenting models of several public buildings that are under construction.
Faced with criticism over the slow rebuilding of administrative buildings, including the legislative palace, Lamothe called on Haitians to unite together.
"Reconstruction is a shared concern, not just for President Michel Martelly and the government," Lamothe said.
Dieudonne Saincy, spokesman for an opposition party, however, accused the current government of "completely passing over the plan for rebuilding the country, which was negotiated with international donors."
He also acknowledged, however, that part of the problem was that some of the promised international aid was never disbursed.
He and Lamothe also both agreed that a large portion of the money -- some 42 percent -- had been spent on the post-earthquake emergency and not for reconstruction.
"We were lucky to have help from Venezuela. Most of our projects were accomplished with Venezuelan money.

Scary: Tokyo faces 70% probability of massive earthquake in next four years

The University of Tokyo's Earthquake Research Institute predicts Tokyo faces 70% probability of a massive earthquake(7.0) in next four years
(CNN) -- Tokyo faces the possibility of being hit by a massive earthquake within the next four years, according to Japanese researchers.

The University of Tokyo's Earthquake Research Institute predicts there is a 70% probability that the capital's metropolitan area will experience a magnitude-7 quake within four years and a 98% probability within the next 30 years.

Nearly one year ago, a magnitude 9.0 quake struck off Japan's central Pacific coast, triggering a devastating tsunami and aftershocks that left more than 15,700 dead, according to a government report in December on Japan's recovery from the catastrophe. About 4,500 were listed as missing.

Obama allows 215,000 illegals to stay in U.S. another 18 months because of 2001 earthquake

A 2001 earthquake? This has to be the thinnest fig leaf ever. The truth is President Obama is engaging in election year pandering to the Latino vote.
The Obama administration has extended temporary protected status to El Salvadoran nationals through late 2013, shielding them from deportation and forcible return to their home country.

The Department of Homeland Security cites ongoing disruptions from a series of earthquakes in 2001, concluding that "El Salvador remains unable, temporarily, to handle adequately the return of its nationals."

The Obama administration's deportation policies have come under scrutiny, just as the president has geared up for his reelection campaign.

Silly: Global warming caused earthquake in Haiti or something

I am beginning to think belief in anthropogenic global warming is a serious mental illness. Please pay attention climate change true believers. Correlation is not causation.
Via MWN:
The idea that the weather plays a role in triggering earthquakes is highly controversial, and scientists have largely discounted previous attempts to establish a link between earthquakes and changes in atmospheric pressure, such as what happens during typhoons and hurricanes. But a new study, recently presented at the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco, takes a different angle. It looks at how changes to the weight of soil bearing down on faultlines might serve to release geological stress.
"Very wet rain events are the trigger. The heavy rain induces thousands of landslides and severe erosion, which removes ground material from the Earth's surface, releasing the stress and encouraging movement along faults," said Shimon Wdowinski of the University of Miami in Florida.
The 2010 earthquake in Haiti serves as a particularly telling example, since Haiti sits right along the path of frequent hurricanes in the Caribbean Sea. The nation also suffers from extreme deforestation, which is also a leading cause of soil erosion.
"The 2010 earthquake in Haiti occurred... 18 months after the same area was hit by two tropical storms and two hurricanes," said Wdowinski.... Read more here...

Fail: Japan Red Cross Has Collected $1 Billion, But Failed To Give Any To Victims Yet

Over $1 billion has been collected, by the Japanese Red Cross, in the first three weeks after Japan's epic disaster, but no funds have been directly given to victims yet.
Japan's Red Cross has collected more than $1 billion in the first three weeks after the massive earthquake and tsunami but has yet to distribute any funds directly to victims, prompting Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano to urge Sunday that the process be accelerated.

Japan should expect new tsunami and large quake within days

Australian seismological expert says Japan should expect a huge aftershock and tsunami withing the next two days.
NORTH-EASTERN Japan can expect another monster earthquake large enough to trigger a tsunami within days, the head of the Australian Seismological Centre says.

The director, Kevin McCue, said there had been more than 100 smaller quakes since Friday, but a larger aftershock was likely.

”Normally they happen within days,” he said. ”The rule of thumb is that you would expect the main aftershock to be one magnitude smaller than the main shock, so you would be expecting a 7.9.

”That’s a monster again in its own right that is capable of producing a tsunami and more damage.”

Global Warming Advocates Link Japan Earthquake to Climate Change

Danny Glover blamed the Haitian earthquake on global warming. Now, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee seems to be trying to link the Japan earthquake and tsunami with climate change.
The earthquake and tsunami will clearly have a severe impact on the economic and social activities of the region. Some islands affected by climate change have been hit. Has not the time come to demonstrate on solidarity – not least solidarity in combating and adapting to climate change and global warming? Mother Nature has again given us a sign that that is what we need to do.
Earth quakes are caused by tectonic plate movements. They are a geological feature not a climate feature.

Louis Farrakhan: Chile Earthquake Is a Warning to America or Something

Louis Farrakhan thinks he is a prophet and the Chile earthquake is a sign of what is coming to America. What is coming to America is a nutty Islamic prophet and he is already here.

From Chicago Breaking News Center:
"It's not an accident that a great earthquake took place in Chile," he said an hour into this speech. "It was a precipitate of what I have to tell you today of what's coming to America. You will not escape."

The Aftermath in Chile (Pictures and video)

There is massive devastation in Chile in the aftermath of a massive 8.8 earthquake. This earthquake released 500 times the energy of the Haitian earthquake, but Chile is much better prepared. Here are some pictures and a video.
