Change: Rich neighborhoods claim de Blasio not snow plowing their streets...

Politics...

Via The NYP:
Huge swaths of the city’s wealthiest neighborhood had been not been plowed by early Tuesday evening, leaving 1-percenters out in the cold, according to the city’s own map of snow-plower activity.
“He is trying to get us back. He is very divisive and political,” said writer and Life-long Upper East Sider and mom Molly Jong Fast of Mayor de Blasio.
“By not plowing the Upper East Side, he is saying, ‘I’m not one of them.’ But we have everyone in this area on the Upper East Side. We have rich people, middle class people, and housing projects. We have it all.”
There appeared to be no snow plowing between East 59th and 79th Streets and between Second and Fifth Avenues.

Progressive Class Warfare Incites Arson

The "hate the rich" mantra of the left has driven some of their followers to commit arson. Two fires in Massachusetts have been tagged by a “F*ck The Rich” calling card.

(Cape Cod Times)- Police and fire officials are investigating an arson fire in Sandwich that has a disturbing similarity with a suspicious incident in Barnstable.

In both cases, the arsonist left a calling card, the message, ”(expletive) the rich” at the scene.

At 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 24, flames engulfed an unoccupied home still under construction at 16 Boulder Brook Road in Sandwich. Only the exterior of the house had been completed. The home, which was valued at $500,000, had a three-car garage and three bedrooms, but no plumbing or electric service, Sandwich Fire Chief George Russell said.

How did Nancy Pelosi Get So Rich?

As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi makes $223,500 a year. According to records analyzed by The Hill, Nancy Pelosi's net worth rose in 2009 from $13.7 million in 2008 to $21.7 million in 2009. Pelosi seems to be immune from the effects of the economic recession that has devastated many Americans.
According to The Hill’s analysis of financial disclosure forms filed last summer, the Speaker’s net worth rose more in 2009 than any other lawmaker’s, from $13.7 million in 2008 to $21.7 million in 2009.

Democrats sock-it-to-the-rich tax hike will only cover deficit for 9 days a year

President Obama and Democrats don't think the wealthy are paying their fair share of taxes. They want to let the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 2% of wage earners. The top 1% now pay 40% of all Federal Income tax. Obama and Democrats plan to hike taxes on those making more than $250,000 a year. Many small businesses fall in that category. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims 97% of small businesses would have no change in their tax.
This would mean no tax change for 98% of American families and at least 97% of small businesses.
The claim 97% of small businesses would not be affected is disingenuous. It depends on how you classify a small business. The numbers Democrats tout include every part-time blogger, after work yard business and housewife with an eBay store. These are not the small businesses that are stimulating the economy and providing jobs. If you look full-time small business owners, 48% will be hit by the tax increase. They will likely reduce employees to cover this tax hike and reduce the expected revenue benefit. Oh and about that expected benefit. Annually, it will only cover 9 days of the federal deficit under optimistic projections.

NRO reported:
Raising taxes on the top 2% of households, as Mr. Obama proposes, would bring in $34 billion next year: enough to cover nine days’ worth of the deficit,” notes The Economist. So that is what all the political fuss about extending the Bush tax cuts for another year is all about. Does this make any sense? After all, errors in estimating next year’s revenues are typically much larger than $34 billion. (emphasis mine)

NY Governor Paterson: 'Tax the rich' isn't working

According to the Manhattan Institute, 41 percent of New York state income taxes are paid by the wealthiest 1% of New Yorkers. Americans no longer have the geographic loyalty they once had. The wealthy are voting with their feet and moving to locations with lower tax rates. This will make economic recovery even more difficult for hard hit states like New York. It looks like New York Gov. David Paterson and Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch are starting to get the message.

The Times Union reported:

"You heard the mantra, 'Tax the rich, tax the rich,' " Gov. David Paterson said Wednesday at a gathering of newspaper editors at an Associated Press event in Syracuse. "We've done that. We've probably lost jobs and driven people out of the state."

"People aren't wedded to a geographic place as they once were. It's a different world," New York Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch said.
