Sad: UN puts accused war criminal on its human rights council

Sudan’s Omar Al-Bashir stands accused of torture and the death of thousands, but he is getting a place at the table of the U.N. Human Rights Council. Tell me again why we are funding this clown show?

Via Judicial Watch:
Now the U.N. is allowing Sudan’s Omar Al-Bashir, the last person on earth you would go to for anything related to human rights, have a seat on its human rights council. Here is a little background on the ruthless African dictator; He has been charged by the International Criminal Court of war crimes in Darfur and is responsible for killing thousands of his own citizens.

A renowned international human rights organization reminds that the Sudanese government has violently dispersed youth-led protests and that security forces have arrested and detained scores of perceived opponents. The Al-Bashir regime mistreats and tortures detainees and censors the media, the group, Human Rights Watch, writes in its assessment of the north African country. Additionally, Sudan’s indiscriminate bombing in civilian-populated areas has displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

U.N. Official suggests Obama may be guilty of "war crimes"

President Obama is the only Nobel Peace Prize winner with a kill list in his office.
(Guardian) — The US policy of using aerial drones to carry out targeted killings presents a major challenge to the system of international law that has endured since the second world war, a United Nations investigator has said.

Christof Heyns, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, summary or arbitrary executions, told a conference in Geneva that President Obama’s attacks in Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere, carried out by the CIA, would encourage other states to flout long-established human rights standards.

In his strongest critique so far of drone strikes, Heyns suggested some may even constitute “war crimes”. His comments come amid rising international unease over the surge in killings by remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Addressing the conference, which was organised by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a second UN rapporteur, Ben Emmerson QC, who monitors counter-terrorism, announced he would be prioritising inquiries into drone strikes.

MSNBC's Cenk Uygur Accuses George W. Bush of War Crimes

Former President Bush has taken full responsibility for the decision to waterboard 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

CBS News reported:
In a memoir due out Tuesday, Bush makes clear that he personally approved the use of that coercive technique against alleged Sept. 11 plotter Khalid Sheik Mohammed, an admission the human rights experts say could one day have legal consequences for him.

In his book, titled "Decision Points," Bush recounts being asked by the CIA whether it could proceed with waterboarding Mohammed, who Bush said was suspected of knowing about still-pending terrorist plots against the United States. Bush writes that his reply was "Damn right" and states that he would make the same decision again to save lives...

Liberals in the mainstream media are now clamoring 'war crimes.'

Via NewsBusters:
CENK UYGUR, MSNBC contributor: Now that isn't even the most startling part of the book. He also admits to a war crime. He said, when they asked him, "hey, should we waterboard Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?" He admits it. In the book, he says I told them "Damn right." Go ahead and torture him basically.

Hamas Claims They Don't Commit War Crimes Because They Can't Aim

This has to be the most bizarre defense ever against charges of war crimes. They claim they aren't targeting civilians because they can't accurately aim their rockets. Hamas claims they are just firing them in the general direction of Israel and hoping they hit a military target.

From Wizbang Blog:
Well, Hamas (the terrorist group that runs the Gaza Strip after winning an election) is in a bit of a snit of late. And their public statements show it.

First up, they denied charges that they committed war crimes by targeting civilians during the last dustup with Israel. Their defense to the charge was novel, to say the least: they didn't target civilians because their missiles are unguided, and therefore can't "target" anyone. It's kind of hard to "target" something with a weapon that's addressed to General Delivery, Israel.

Ft. Hood terrorist Major Hasan tried to open war crimes prosecutions on patients

The idea of a psychiatrist, willing to mass murder 13 innocent soldiers and employees at Fort Hood, reporting his patients for alleged war crimes is ridiculous. Major Nidal Malik Hasan is a hypocrite who violated his patients confidentiality. Since the military dismissed the allegations, the charges were undoubtedly false.

From ABC News:
Major Nidal Malik Hasan's military superiors repeatedly ignored or rebuffed his efforts to open criminal prosecutions of soldiers he claimed had confessed to "war crimes" during psychiatric counseling, according to investigative reports circulated among federal law enforcement officials...

Senator "war crimes" Kerry accepts letter from Hamas

John Kerry was very vocal about alleged war crimes committed by the U.S. in Vietnam. He doesn't have any problem accepting a letter from known terrorist group Hamas. The letter is for President Obama and it was delivered by U.N. officials. Senator Kerry and the U.N. seem to working be together for the benefit of a terrorist group. Why am I not surprised?
Kerry Accepts Letter from Hamas for Obama
Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman detours on trip to Israel into stronghold of Hamas terrorists, where he gets a letter for President Obama delivered by U.N. officials.
Sen. John Kerry accepted a letter for President Barack Obama from Hamas leaders on Thursday, FOX News learned.
