Obama to invite Bush to White House for Unveiling of Official Portrait

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama has edited the portrait of Bush(above.)

Via Townhall:
This ought to be fun. Barack and Michelle Obama will welcome The Most Evil Man in the World (or as he's known outside the Democratic Party, George W. Bush) and his wife Laura to the White House next week, for the unveiling of their official portraits. Of course, this comes as the current president is in full campaign mode, and W. occupies the role of Obama's eternal scapegoat. It'll be no minor miracle if Obama can make it through the unveiling without blaming Bush for something.

Deception: Obama claims credit for oil production increase

President Obama is touting an increase in oil production as one of his accomplishments. Here is the chart and info from barackobama.com. (accent is mine)
Since taking office, President Obama has called for an “all-of-the-above” approach to reducing America’s dependence on foreign oil, including an increase in safe and responsible oil production here at home.
Today, America’s oil production is at its highest level in eight years:

Does Obama deserve any credit for this or is it all those oil drilling permits former President G. W. Bush issued? Bush increased oil drilling permits 70% from the Clinton era. Let's see how Obama is doing issuing new offshore oil drilling permits.
The truth is there has been a 69 percent reduction in the number of offshore drilling plans approved under President Obama. It also takes 52% longer for the lucky few to get a permit approved.
Even former President Bill Clinton thinks Obama's oil drilling permit delays are ridiculous.

DNC Claims They Never Used Extreme Rhetoric When Bush Was President

During a February 9, 2006 Good Morning America segment, former DNC Chief Howard Dean compared President Bush to the leadership of Iran.
(RCP) — DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse speaks to MSNBC’s Martin Bashir about RNC Chairman Reince Priebus comparing Obama to the captain of the wrecked Italian cruise ship.
Woodhouse says he never remembers anyone going after Bush during his presidency the way Republicans are attacking Obama. Woodhouse said Democrats never equated Bush to a terrorist or as someone who had committed manslaughter.
“Many Republicans will say didn’t democrats attack George Bush in exactly the same way. what’s your response to that?,” Bashir asked Woodhouse.
“I don’t remember anything that equates from official Democratic Party. I mean, of course there are interest groups and people have their say, but I don’t remember anything coming from Democratic Party about George W. Bush being equated to a terrorist or George W. Bush being equated to somebody who has been accused of manslaughter. I don’t remember anybody questioning some of the things about George W. Bush that have been questioned about the president. I don’t remember an opposing Governor wagging his or her finger in president George W. Bush’s face,” Woodhouse said.

Shameful: Paul Krugman accuses Bush, Giuliani of being "fake heroes" who cashed in on 9-11

Former President Bush and former NY Mayor Giuliani rallied us in the aftermath of 9/11. Krugman's vile attack on the 10 year anniversary may be the most shameful thing an alleged journalist has ever done. (accent is mine)
(New York Slimes)- What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. Te atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons.

President Obama will stand in former President Bush's shadow at 10th Anniversary of 9-11

Both President Obama and former President G.W. Bush will attend the 10th Anniversary of 9-11 in NYC.
The ceremony at the World Trade Center site marking the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks will be a solemn but stately event that will include former President George W. Bush and a chance for victims' families to view the names of loved ones etched into the memorial, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

President Barack Obama and Bloomberg will be joined by the leaders in charge during the 2001 attacks, including Bush, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former New York Gov. George Pataki. Current New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will also be there, he said.

Speaking on his weekly radio show Friday on WOR-AM, Bloomberg said the lawmakers will read short poems or quotes. No speeches will be given.

"This cannot be political," he said. "So that's why there's a poem or a quote or something that each of the readers will read. No speeches whatsoever. That's not an appropriate thing." Read more...

Donald Rumsfeld: Bush Scared Moammar Gadhafi into giving up nuke weapon program

From the video:
Donald Rumsfeld: “It’s a little known story, but the truth is Gadhafi and the Libyans for years had been developing nuclear weapons. And at some moment after the major combat operations and after Saddam was captured, apparently Gadhafi went to some Westerners and said, ‘I do not want to be the next Saddam Hussein,’ and indicated that he did have a nuclear program. Indicated that he was willing to give up his nuclear program, and in fact invited inspectors in to help dismantle the activities he had undertaken to develop a nuclear weapon.”
The only people President Obama scares are Americans.

Nancy Pelosi Claims Bush Caused Her to Lose Speakership

Two years after President Bush left office, Nancy Pelosi tries to blame him for the loss of her House Speaker-ship. How pathetic can you get?
(RCP)- We still would have lost the election because we had 9.5% unemployment. Let’s take it where that came from. The policies of George W. Bush and the Republican support for his initiatives, tax cuts are for the wealth, recklessness by some,” Minority Leader Pelosi told CNN.

Amnesty International demands Bush be prosecuted for waterboarding admission

Amnesty International is claiming the Unites States "must prosecute" former President Bush for admitting he authorized waterboarding of terrorists captured on a foreign battlefield. This obsession with former President Bush should give their normal target Israel a breather.

Reuters reported:
The United States must prosecute former President George W. Bush for torture if his admission in a memoir that he authorized waterboarding holds true, rights group Amnesty International said on Wednesday.

In “Decision Points,” published this week, Bush defended his decision to authorize waterboarding, a form of simulated drowning condemned by some as torture.

MSNBC's Cenk Uygur Accuses George W. Bush of War Crimes

Former President Bush has taken full responsibility for the decision to waterboard 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

CBS News reported:
In a memoir due out Tuesday, Bush makes clear that he personally approved the use of that coercive technique against alleged Sept. 11 plotter Khalid Sheik Mohammed, an admission the human rights experts say could one day have legal consequences for him.

In his book, titled "Decision Points," Bush recounts being asked by the CIA whether it could proceed with waterboarding Mohammed, who Bush said was suspected of knowing about still-pending terrorist plots against the United States. Bush writes that his reply was "Damn right" and states that he would make the same decision again to save lives...

Liberals in the mainstream media are now clamoring 'war crimes.'

Via NewsBusters:
CENK UYGUR, MSNBC contributor: Now that isn't even the most startling part of the book. He also admits to a war crime. He said, when they asked him, "hey, should we waterboard Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?" He admits it. In the book, he says I told them "Damn right." Go ahead and torture him basically.

Obama Warned Bush Not To Be ‘Stubborn’ After Dems Take Over Congress in 2006

That was good advice President Obama. You should take it. You said president Bush should take a signal from voters. Unfortunately, you will most likely need to buy a vowel to guess voters message.

President Bush is Now Tied With President Obama in "Better President" Poll

President Obama is only beating President Bush by 2 points when asked who was the better President. That is within the 4.5% statistical error of the CNN poll.

CNN reported:
Americans are divided over whether President Barack Obama or his predecessor has performed better in the White House, according to a new national poll...

By 47 to 45 percent, Americans say Obama is a better president than George W. Bush. But that two point margin is down from a 23 point advantage one year ago.

Louisiana Voters Think Bush Did a Better Job of Handling Crisis Than Obama by 54%-33%

Louisiana has face two major crisis in recent years. The first was hurricane Katrina handled by former President Bush. The second was the Gulf oil spill handled by current President Obama. A PPP poll asked likely voters who they think is better at handling crisis, Obama or Bush. 54% chose President Bush. Only 33% picked President Obama.

81% of Louisiana voters support offshore drilling.
While support has nearly returned to previous levels elsewhere, support in Louisiana has, if it were possible, also increased, to 81%, with only 9% not in favor

Liberal Media Clubbed President Bush for Playing Golf in Time of War. Obama Plays 48th Round in 19 Months.

The liberal media was severely critical of former President Bush for playing golf in a time of war. He finally gave up the game and started biking in August of 2003. The media also hammered his father George H. W. Bush for golfing and fishing in a time of war. Yesterday, President Obama played his 48th round of golf in 19 months. That doubled former President Bush's 24 rounds in the three years before he quit. Most Americans wouldn't begrudge someone with a tough job a little downtime, but the contrast in the media coverage has been astounding. If a Republican were in the White House, the war in Afghanistan was going poorly, 9.5% of Americans were unemployed and the economic recovery was stalled, the liberal mainstream media would be all over them for playing golf and taking too many vacations.

Here is an example from The Washington Post of how the media reported Bush's golf outings.

Before Golf, Bush Decries Latest Deaths In Mideast

Upcoming Holiday to Be No Vacation From Strife

By Mike Allen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, August 5, 2002; Page A02

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine, Aug. 4 -- It's a ritual when President Bush golfs: As he gets ready to tee off, reporters toss out a few questions about the news of the day from their perches on a nearby sand trap. This morning, Bush wasn't waiting. He sprang from his golf cart at 6:15 a.m. and said he was "distressed to hear about the latest suicide bombers in Israel."

Just over four hours before, as Bush slept at his parents' seaside retreat, a Palestinian suicide bomber blew up a bus in Israel, killing nine passengers.

The reporting, in the excerpt, paints President Bush as callous and nonchalant about tragedy. Of course, President Obama does have one advantage former President Bush didn't. He doesn't have to worry about questions being shouted out while he is on the golf course. He doesn't allow reporters on the golf course. That alone would have created a media storm of criticism during the Bush presidency.

Chris Dodd Blames Bush For The Poor Oil Spill Response By Obama

That's right. Democrats don't want to pin any blame on their "messiah." First they blamed BP. Then, they blamed Dick Cheney. Then they tried to get reporters to quit asking so many questions. Now, they have resorted to their emergency fall back plan. Chris Dodd is blaming former President Bush.

RCP reported:
“To lay this at Obama’s doorstep, in light of years and years of regulatory permissiveness when it comes to these kinds of operations occurring — it didn’t occur in the last year and a half,” he said. “I mean, you know that as well as I do. You can’t lay this all at Obama’s door anymore than I can say,” Dodd responded.

Someone in Minnesota Misses President Bush

This billboard isn't a 'Photoshop.' Someone in Minnesota has paid to have a billboard covered with a photo of former president George W. Bush and the question: "Miss Me Yet?"

NPR reported:
There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: "Miss Me Yet?"

Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

A Contrast of Two Winter White Houses

Here is a video of President Obama's Winter White House. This 7000 square feet of paradise is valued at $8.9 million. It rents for $4,000 a night.

Here is a picture of former President Bush's Western White House in Texas. This modest 4000 square foot property even has geothermal heating to save energy.

Which President is more likely to identify with ordinary Americans?
