PPP asks who leads Republican Party: 21% picked Cruz to 17% for Chris Christie, and 15% for John Boehner...

Mitch McConnell was hardest hit. He only got 4%. Collaborating with Democrats to fund Obamacare and raise the debt ceiling for nothing has ended any support McConnell had.

Via PPP:
PPP's newest national survey finds that in the wake of the shutdown, Republican voters now view Ted Cruz as their party's leader. 21% picked Cruz to 17% for Chris Christie, and 15% for John Boehner. Cruz finished well ahead of the other GOP Senators we tested- Rand Paul got 9%, John McCain 7%, and Mitch McConnell only 4%. Mitt Romney at 8% and Sarah Palin at 4% were the other people we tested.
Numbers PPP will release next week show Ted Cruz would be an exceedingly weak Presidential candidate in the general election. The good news for the GOP is that even if the party base sees Cruz as their leader Democrats and independents actually see Chris Christie, who has far broader approval, as the leader of the Republican Party these days. With Democrats Christie gets 23% to 17% for Boehner and only 10% for Cruz. And with independents Christie gets 25% to 17% for Cruz and 10% for Boehner. Even if Republicans themselves see Cruz as their leader, they're better off with everyone else seeing it as Christie.

Stupid: PPP Polling lists George Zimmerman as GOP presidential candidate...

Dems and the games they play...

Via PPP:
Reflecting the strong standing we've seen for him a lot of places lately Rand Paul is the top choice of GOP voters in Alaska with 18% to 14% for Sarah Palin, 13% for Chris Christie, 11% for Jeb Bush, 9% for Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan, 8% for Ted Cruz, 5% for Rick Santorum, and 2% for George Zimmerman. In a Palin and Zimmerman-less field Paul gets up to 20% with Bush at 15%, Christie and Ryan at 14%, Rubio at 10%, Cruz at 9%, and Santorum at 6%.

Democrat Leaning Public Policy Polling Finds Romney Within One-Point Of Obama In Ohio

Ohio seems to be shaping up for Mitt Romney. I can't wait to see the party affiliation breakdown. Most polls are still oversampling Democrats. Mitt Romney can still win if he loses Ohio, but it would be a challenge. Romney looks good to win the swing states of Florida, Virginia and Colorado. Romney would need to win Hew Hampshire(likely) and Wisconsin. or Both Nevada and Iowa. Iowa looks likely to me. On the other hand, I can't see a path to victory for Obama if he loses Iowa. He would have to win all the win all the northers, Midwestern and western swing states to win or pick off Virginia.

PPP Poll: Obama is more unpopular than George W. Bush

Obama has a -3% rating. Bush 43 has a -1% rating.
Raleigh, N.C. – America’s first president is still its most popular, according to PPP’s latest national survey released on the heels of Valentine’s and ahead of Presidents’ Day. 89% of voters see George Washington favorably, and only 3% unfavorably, followed in the top ten by Abraham Lincoln (85-7), Thomas Jefferson (74-6), Teddy Roosevelt (66-9), John Adams (55-9), Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower (each 62-11), John F. Kennedy (70-21), John Quincy Adams (52-7), and Franklin D. Roosevelt (62-22). Ronald Reagan is 14th most popular (62-30), Gerald Ford 16th (49-28), Bill Clinton 17th (54-38), George H.W. Bush 19th (51-42), and Jimmy Carter tied for 29th (44-44).

The least popular by far is Richard Nixon (27-59), followed by ten others in negative territory: Lyndon B. Johnson (34-42), Warren Harding (12-19), Millard Fillmore (7-12), Herbert Hoover (25-29), Calvin Coolidge (18-22), Barack Obama (46-49), Chester Arthur (10-13), Martin Van Buren (13-15), James Buchanan (11-13), and George W. Bush (45-46). 54% (James Monroe) to 84% of voters (Franklin Pierce) have no opinion of 20 of the 43 presidents, mostly 19th- and early-20th-century commanders-in-chief. Only eight have “not sure” figures in the single digits, led by the current head of state.

New PPP Poll: Rand Paul Headed for Easy Win

A New PPP poll has Rand Paul defeating Demo KY AG Jack Conway 55% to 40%.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2010 Paul headed for easy victory Rand Paul has expanded his lead in the Kentucky Senate race even further over the last week and is headed for a blowout win. His margin over Jack Conway is 55-40. Kentucky is obviously a conservative state. Conway's ability to win was always going to depend on getting a lot of folks who supported John McCain in 2008 to vote Democratic for the Senate this time around. The most amazing finding on this final poll is that Rand Paul is actually picking up more Obama voters (15%) than Conway is McCain...

This is inspite of Conway running one of the dirtiest campaigns in the country. His anti_Paul "Aqua Buddha" ad was a really low blow. This weekend, desperate Jack Conway supporters have been robo-calling claiming Rand Paul supports legalizing meth labs.

PPP Poll Shocker: Republican John Raese leads Democrat Gov. Joe Manchin in the U.S. Senate special election

The margin of error is +/-2.6%.

PPP Poll: O’Donnell Leads Castle in GOP Delaware Senate Primary

Mike Castle was thought to be on the road to an easy win in the GOP Delaware Senate primary, but many Republicans are questioning his resolve to repeal Obamacare. Castle has also been accused of being in the pocket of lobbyists. Sarah Plain has thrown her considerable influence behind Castle's opponent Christine O’Donnell. The race is now too close to call.

PPP reported:
It looks like there’s a real possibility of a major upset in the Delaware Senate primary on Tuesday night, with insurgent conservative Christine O’Donnell leading longtime Congressman and Governor Mike Castle 47-44. That 3 point lead is well within the poll’s margin of error.

Louisiana Voters Think Bush Did a Better Job of Handling Crisis Than Obama by 54%-33%

Louisiana has face two major crisis in recent years. The first was hurricane Katrina handled by former President Bush. The second was the Gulf oil spill handled by current President Obama. A PPP poll asked likely voters who they think is better at handling crisis, Obama or Bush. 54% chose President Bush. Only 33% picked President Obama.

81% of Louisiana voters support offshore drilling.
While support has nearly returned to previous levels elsewhere, support in Louisiana has, if it were possible, also increased, to 81%, with only 9% not in favor

Obama Leaves the Realm of Toxic and Becomes Radioactive to Incumbent Democrats

A PPP poll has found President Obama's endorsement would hurt the Democratic incumbents in his home state of Illinois. President Obama isn't just toxic. He has become radioactive.
40% of voters in the state say they'd be less likely to support an Obama endorsed candidate to only 26% who say it would be an asset. The reality at this point is that Obama turns Republican voters off to a much greater extent than he excites Democrats. That's reflected in the fact that 83% of Republicans say an Obama endorsement would be a negative with them while only 49% of Democrats say it would be a positive. Independents also respond negatively by a 38/19 margin.

New Poll Finds Obama's Endorsement May Be Toxic

President Obama personal approval numbers have dropped into the 40's, but, considering the agenda he has been pushing is opposed by most Americans, it is surprising his numbers aren't lower. Usually the endorsement from a President polling in the mid-forties would help a candidate at the polls. This doesn't seem to be the case for President Obama. In spite of pushing unpopular legislation, President Obama is still able to maintain some personal popularity. Unfortunately for Democrats, he is unable to impart this on thier candidates for office. Instead of campaigning this fall, President Obama should have plenty of time for golf.

PPP Polling reported:
PPP’s most recent national survey found that while Obama had a positive approval rating at 48/47, only 33% of voters were more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by him while 48% said support from Obama would make them less likely to vote for someone. That’s because only 64% of voters who approve of the President say his endorsement would make them more inclined to vote for a candidate, but 91% who disapprove say Obama’s support makes it less likely they would vote for one of his preferred candidates....

PPP Poll: FOX News Most Trusted Name in News

This survey is going to make some liberal heads explode. Liberals love to refer to FOX News as "Faux News." However, the public strongly disagrees. A PPP survey has found FOX News to be the most trusted source for news. FOX is the only network more people trust than distrust as a news source.
Our newest survey looking at perceptions of ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC News finds Fox as the only one that more people say they trust than distrust. 49% say they trust it to 37% who do not.
