Nancy Pelosi walks back “There’s something that I know." comment about Gingrich

Apparently, Pelosi was bluffing and doesn't know squat on Gingrich. She now claims it just her “instinct.” More likely, it is a Botox overdose.
Washington (CNN) – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi Thursday dismissed the idea she knows something secret about former House Speaker Newt Gingrich that would disqualify him from being president, saying it’s just her “instinct” – based on the public record.
Pelosi ruled out Gingrich’s chances of becoming the GOP nominee Tuesday when she told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, “He’s not going to be President of the United States. That’s not going to happen.”
“There’s something that I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him, that’s their prerogative,” she continued. “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Gingrich, when asked about the comment Wednesday jumped at the opening to use a leading liberal as a foil and called on Pelosi to “spit it out” if she knows something about him.

Newt Gingrich Has a Bold Vision for Space Program

Newt Gingrich promises a manned American base on the moon and a propulsion system capable of taking us to Mars by the end of his second term. It turns out Gingrich is a big Asimov fan.

President Obama is on the opposite end of the space exploration issue. He prefers to spend our money on questionable green projects and social programs. He has a typical liberal mentality about space exploration.

Nancy Pelosi on a Gingrich Presidency: "That's not going to happen...There is something I know."

Veiled threats or the effects of too much Botox?

ABC News will torpedo Newt Gingrich the night before the South Carolina primary

Reportedly the interview with Newt Gingrich's ex-wife contains explosive material. Having it air the night before the crucial South Carolina primary won't give Gingrich any time to respond and do damage control. Depending on the content, this could sink Newt Gingrich's campaign.
NEW YORK (AP) – An ABC News executive tells The Associated Press that the network has interviewed Newt Gingrich’s second wife and is likely to air the segment Friday on “Nightline.”
That’s the day before the South Carolina primary, where the Republican presidential candidate is trying to topple GOP front-runner Mitt Romney.
The ABC News executive did not indicate what the ex-wife, Marianne, said in the interview and spoke on the condition of anonymity because the plans for airing the interview were tentative.
Update: AP now reporting interview will air Thursday night.

It's settled. Newt is the geekiest 2012 GOP candidate. The other contenders were Romney and Paul.

Via Scientific American:
The contenders for the Republican nomination in the 2012 U.S. presidential election may appear to be a fairly uniform group of middle-aged white conservatives, but when it comes to issues of science, technology and overall geek cred, none of these candidates is cut from the same cloth. In fact, Newt Gingrich nudges out Mitt Romney and Ron Paul in Scientific American's overall ranking, based on the former Congressman's engagement in issues related to energy, the Internet and military weapons, combined with his mastery of top online tools such as Twitter and a healthy appetite for science nonfiction.

Newt Gingrich criticizes Romney and bolts for New Hampshire.

After criticizing Romney for running a negative campaign and promising to stay positive, Gingrich appeared before supporters to criticize the former Massachusetts governor as someone who couldn't bring change to Washington. Change: Newt Yanks Climate Change Chapter From New Book

Is this the kind of change you can believe in? Gingrich is solid on many issues, but global warming isn't one of them.
DES MOINES, Iowa — Newt Gingrich says he has killed a chapter on climate change in a post-election book of essays about the environment. But the intended author of the chapter, who supports the scientific consensus that humans contribute to climate change, says that’s news to her.

Katharine Hayhoe, an atmospheric scientist at Texas Tech, confirmed in an e-mail interview that she had been asked to write a chapter on climate change for the former House speaker’s book. She said she was approached by former Palm Beach Zoo CEO Terry Maple, Gingrich’s coeditor, at an annual meeting of Republicans for Environmental Protection. Asked to confirm her chapter was dropped, she replied, “I had not heard that.”

The climate-change issue arose on Thursday night at a Gingrich campaign stop in Carroll, when a woman expressed concern about the chapter. She said she had heard about it on Rush Limbaugh’s radio program. As she began to tell Gingrich who the author of the piece would be, Gingrich interrupted. “That’s not going to be in the book,” he told her. “We didn’t know that they were doing that, and we told them to kill it.”
