Wonderful: Group behind Rick Perry's indictment is heavily funded by...George Soros...

I am shocked. (snark)

Via MRC:
Sometimes it seems like there isn’t a single political issue that a Soros-funded group isn’t involved in. Texans for Public Justice, one of the groups behind Rick Perry’s indictment charges, is part of a “progressive” coalition that has received $500,000 from liberal billionaire George Soros.
Rick Perry was indicted by a Texas grand jury for vetoing funding for the state’s public integrity unit, unless the lead prosecutor resigned following her drunk driving arrest. Since the news of Perry’s indictment charge broke on Aug. 15, none of the network morning or evening news broadcasts have mentioned the Soros connection, or mentioned Texans for Public Justice at all.
According to KXAN, a local NBC affiliate in Austin, Texans for Public Justice filed a complaint against Perry in court last June
According to an Open Society Institute press release, OSI has given $500,000 to help form a coalition that “could change the way the progressive community engages public policy in Texas.” Besides Texans for Public Justice, this coalition includes Texans Together, the Sierra Club, Texas Legal Services, La Fe Policy Research and Education Center, Public Citizen, and the Center for Public Policy.

Liberal Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz on Rick Perry Indictment: “Everybody, liberal or conservative, should stand against this indictment,”

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz thinks the charges against Rick perry are politically motivated. This fact should be obvious to anyone with more than two brain cells.

Via Newsmax:
Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz calls himself a “liberal Democrat who would never vote for Rick Perry,” but he’s still “outraged” over the Texas governor’s indictment Friday on charges of abuse of power and coercion.
The charges are politically motivated and an example of a “dangerous” trend of courts being used to affect the ballot box and politics, he told Newsmax on Saturday.
“Everybody, liberal or conservative, should stand against this indictment,” Dershowitz said. “If you don’t like how Rick Perry uses his office, don’t vote for him.”

Here is the booking video for the person Rick Perry tried to remove from office.Perry was subsequently indicted by what I believe was the very prosecutors office the drunk driver used to head.

Hero: Gov. Rick Perry sending National Guard to border...

Your move Obama.

Via The Monitor:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry is set to announce Monday that 1,000 U.S. National Guard troops will be deployed to the Rio Grande Valley, according to an internal memo detailing the plan obtained on Sunday.
State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen, confirmed that Perry is set to announce the deployment on Monday.
“Gov. Perry plans to hold a press conference tomorrow at 2 p.m. and he is calling up the National Guard to help out on the border,” Hinojosa said Sunday evening. “Of course, we are opposed to bringing up the National Guard. We do not need to militarize the border. These are families and children. We need to manage the situation.”
The National Guard troops will be deployed to the Valley to join the Texas Department of Public Safety in its recent surge to combat human smuggling and drug trafficking amid the influx of mostly Central Americans illegally crossing the Rio Grande.
“This is not a militarization of the border,” the memo states. “The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of (U.S. Highway) 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”
DPS officials want to send National Guard troops into western areas of the Valley and the ranch lands further north, according to the memo.

Gov. Rick Perry declines offer to meet Obama at airport and shake his hand...

Gov. Perry is demanding more substance...

Via HuffPo:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) won’t be on hand to greet President Barack Obama when Air Force One lands in Austin on Wednesday.
The governor’s office says the White House extended an invitation to Perry to meet Obama on the tarmac when he arrives for Democratic fundraisers in Dallas and Austin. However, Perry refused the offer, asking instead to meet with Obama in private to discuss the high number of unaccompanied children arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border in recent months.
“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,” Perry wrote Monday in a letter to the president. “I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue.”
The Texas governor has been a vocal critic of the president’s handling of the situation at the border, repeatedly suggesting that the administration is “in on this somehow.”

Rick Perry to Maryland: “When you grow tired of Maryland taxes squeezing every dime out of your business, think Texas..."

Texas Governor Rick perry is setting his sights on  Maryland businesses...
Maryland is apparently the latest target in an ongoing campaign by Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) to lure businesses and employees to the Lone Star State.
“When you grow tired of Maryland taxes squeezing every dime out of your business, think Texas, where we’ve created more jobs than all the other states combined,” Perry says in a new ad set to begin airing this week in the Washington region, according to WTOP radio.
Besides touting the economic advantages of his state, Perry also takes a shot at Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), who is weighing a 2016 White House bid.
“Unfortunately, your governor has made Maryland the tax-and-fee state, where businesses and families are paying some of the highest taxes in America,” says Perry.
Demo Maryland Governor O'Malley on Rick Perry:
"Gov. Perry, frankly, has a lot more hat than cattle," O'Malley said told a crowd of Democrats Thursday night.
I have a newsflash for Governor O'Malley,  Rick Perry not only has more hat, he has more jobs...

Gov. Rick Perry calling special session for vote on abortion bill stopped by a screaming mob of liberals

The vote was stopped by a screaming mob of liberals. Rick Perry is going to correct that problem with a special session. This is a ballsy move by Perry.  Liberal heads exploding in 3..2..1..

Via The Guardian
The Texas governor, Rick Perry, called a second special session of the state legislature to pass controversial abortion restrictions, after the first attempt by Republicans died overnight thanks to a marathon one-woman filibuster.
On Wednesday, Perry ordered lawmakers to meet again on 1 July to act on the abortion proposals, as well as separate bills that would boost highway funding and deal with a juvenile justice issue. The sweeping abortion rules would close nearly all abortion clinics and impose other widespread restrictions on the procedure across the nation's second-largest state.
The measure passed the House, but died after a Democratic Senator, Wendy Davis, led a filibuster effort that lasted 12 hours. Hundreds of protesters cheered and clapped in the public gallery, disrupting Senate proceedings as the session closed at midnight. That sparked boisterous chanting from the public gallery, which lasted until after midnight and threw proceedings into turmoil.

Principles: Texas Gov. Rick Perry steadfast in refusing Obamacare Medicaid expansion...

Several Republican governors have recently caved and agreed to accept the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. Texas Gov. Rick Perry and author of “Fed Up!” isn't among that group.
AUSTIN, Texas -- Gov. Rick Perry, who authored the memorably titled book “Fed Up!” before launching a presidential run in 2011, is again demonstrating his skeptical view of a federal government that comes bearing gifts for his state -- even as many of his Republican colleagues have changed their tune.

On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott became the latest GOP governor to say he will accept a provision in the national health care reform law that expands Medicaid dramatically in his state. But Perry remains steadfast in his refusal to accept the federal funding.

Proponents of taking the money have characterized Perry’s decision as reflecting an unreasonable obstinacy. Texas has the nation’s highest rate of uninsured residents, after all, and the proposed Medicaid expansion would cover more than 1 million additional people.

But during a speech in Washington on Friday that was intended to draw attention to his state’s economic strength, Perry was repeatedly heckled by organized groups of protesters -- to no avail, however, as the nation’s longest-serving governor drew a clear line in the sand on the issue.

“Let me go on the record here for a moment: We’re not going to be expanding Medicaid in Texas,” he said to cheers from the partisan Republican crowd on hand, according to the Houston Chronicle. “The reason is because it’s a broken system. It’s moving our state -- and I’ll just speak to our state -- towards bankruptcy if we expand the current program.” Keep on reading...

Hero: TX Gov. Rick Perry wants to return tax money directly to the people who paid it

It's a shame we don't have President Perry...
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Gov. Rick Perry presented a glowing assessment of the Texas economy Tuesday and said there was more than enough money in the state’s Rainy Day fund for a one-time, $3.7 billion-investment in water and transportation upgrades while also cutting taxes.
The Republican governor, who for weeks has called on the Legislature to hold down government spending even with the state’s economy booming, used his biennial State of the State speech Tuesday in the House chamber to call for a one-time investment in infrastructure he said is needed to ensure a high quality of life. The Texas constitution calls for a percentage of oil and gas revenues to go into the Rainy Day Fund, which is nearing its constitutional cap.
“Our bank balance is healthy, our economy is growing, our future is limitless,” Perry said.
Perry also called on lawmakers to amend the Texas Constitution to allow the state to return tax money it collects but doesn’t spend to its citizens.
“Today, I’m calling for a mechanism to be put in place so when we do bring in more than we need, we’ll have the option of returning tax money directly to the people who paid it,” the governor said. “Currently, that’s not something our constitution allows. We need to fix that.”

Hero: Gov. Rick Perry criticizes the Obama administration for its “over the top” rhetoric in response to Marine video

Gov. Rick Perry thinks the reaction to the Marines urination on Taliban is :over the top."
(USA Today) — GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry today criticized the Obama administration for its “over the top” rhetoric in response to a video that purports to show four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters.
Perry, speaking on CNN’s State of the Union program, said the reactions from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to the video is indicative of what he says is a “disdain” for the military by Obama officials.
“These kids made a mistake, no doubt about it,” Perry said, adding that when you’re 18 or 19 years old you do “dumb” things. “…To call it a criminal act is over the top.”

Rick Perry is returning to Texas to rethink his candidacy.

Via CNN:
Perry, speaking before his supporters at Perry headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa, said he will return home to Texas and asses the results of the votes in Iowa to decide if there is a path forward for him in the presidential race.
Michelle Bachmann is considering throwing in the towel.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Michele Bachmann’s campaign manager says it’s hard to tell whether she will continue her campaign after a bleak showing in the Iowa caucuses.

Asked if he could say with certainty whether she would go forward with her candidacy, Bachmann campaign manager Keith Nahigian told The Associated Press, “I don’t know yet.”
Newt Gingrich criticizes Romney and bolts for New Hampshire.
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Newt Gingrich blamed a poor showing in the Iowa caucuses on his rivals' attack ads and seemed to conclude that turnabout is fair play as he pressed on with a new aggressive stance against front-runner Mitt Romney.

After criticizing Romney for running a negative campaign and promising to stay positive, Gingrich appeared before supporters to criticize the former Massachusetts governor as someone who couldn't bring change to Washington. He also planned to run television ads against Romney in the next three states to vote – New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida.

Breaking: Rick Perry Sues to Get on Virgina Primary Ballot

Breaking: Rick Perry Sues to Get on Virgina Primary Ballot
(BI)- Texas Gov. Rick Perry has filed suit in federal court against the Virginia Republican Party and the Virginia Board of Elections in order to gain a spot on the Commonwealth's primary ballot.

Perry was excluded after the party found he had not submitted enough valid signatures by the deadline last Thursday. His campaign submitted 6,000 of the required 10,000, according to the suit.

The lawsuit alleges that Perry's 1st and 14th Amendment rights were violated by the requirement that those circulating the petitions also be eligible or registered voters of Virginia. Keep on reading...
