Obama wants Marines to wear hats that "would make the French blush."

No. Hell no. Our Marines deserve better. 

A change to the Marine Corps’ uniform hats could take the hard-nosed Leathernecks from the Halls of Montezuma to the shops of Christopher Street.
Thanks to a plan by President Obama to create a “unisex” look for the Corps, officials are on the verge of swapping out the Marines’ iconic caps – known as “covers” — with a new version that some have derided as so “girly” that they would make the French blush.
“We don’t even have enough funding to buy bullets, and the DoD is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women’s hats!” one senior Marine source fumed to The Post. “The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous.”

Actual Good News: Marine Corps drops criminal charges against an officer in the Taliban urination video case

Apparently, superiors were trying to railroad him. I wonder if it was on Team Obama's orders?

The Marine Corps has suddenly dropped criminal charges against an officer in the infamous Taliban urination video case, heading off what promised to be an embarrassing pre-trial hearing for the commandant on Wednesday.
Defense attorneys for Capt. James V. Clement had won a judge’s order, over objections from Marine prosecutors, for two staff attorneys to testify in open court about how senior commanders had interfered in the case to get a guilty verdict.

Gov. Rick Perry thinks the reaction to the Marines urination on Taliban is :over the top."

(USA Today) — GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry today criticized the Obama administration for its “over the top” rhetoric in response to a video that purports to show four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters.

Perry, speaking on CNN’s State of the Union program, said the reactions from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to the video is indicative of what he says is a “disdain” for the military by Obama officials.

“These kids made a mistake, no doubt about it,” Perry said, adding that when you’re 18 or 19 years old you do “dumb” things. “…To call it a criminal act is over the top.”

Outrage: Marines Object to Putting John Murtha's Name on Amphibious Warship

John Murtha is an “unindicted co-conspirator” in 1980′s FBI-run Abscam sting who once claimed that Marines in the Iraqi city of Haditha “killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” The only thing Murtha should have named after him is a federal prison.

And that isn’t the worst of it, according to sailors and Marines: putting Murtha’s name on an amphibious warship designed to carry 700 Marines is outrageous, they maintain, given Murtha’s 2006 charge that Marines in the Iraqi city of Haditha “killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” (One of the eight Marines charged in the case still faces trial; six have had their charges dismissed and one was acquitted.) “Name a ship after a congressman who disgraced himself by rushing to judge that fellow Marines had committed murder in Iraq?”  Thomas Wilkerson, a retired Marine major general who now heads the non-profit U.S. Naval Institute, which advocates for the military’s maritime services, said Sunday. “Can you be serious?”

Pelosi Calls Murtha “a tireless advocate for our troops, and Marines in particular”

Nancy Pelosi was shameless in her praise for deceased Rep. John Murtha. Pelosi said Murtha was, “a tireless advocate for our troops, and Marines in particular.” John Murtha accused the Marines in the Haditha incident of killing Iraqi civilians "in cold blood" before the Marine Corps report was even issued. After charges were dropped against six and the seventh was found not guilty, Murtha refused to apologize or retract his statement. Here is a video of a reporter asking Murtha to apologize after charges were dropped against some of the Marines.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised the Navy’s decision to name an amphibious warship after Rep. John Murtha, but the formal announcement Friday added fuel to an already smoldering backlash online.

Murtha — “our dear Jack,” as Pelosi referred to him — deserved the honor as a tireless advocate for troops generally and Marines in particular, she said, and she recalled admiring his rapport with them.

“Whether on the battlefield, or on the bedside, he thanked them for their courage, listened to their concerns, and asked them for comment — and he answered their needs, and responded to their calls, whether it was for body armor, up-armored vehicles… radios, you name it,” Pelosi said. “In those minutes [together], he bonded with them especially because he would share his own personal military service with them, and cared for them as a father. They knew it, and they returned his respect.”
