Did Doctors without Borders violate the Geneva Convention at bombed Afghan hospital?

They didn't have any international hospital marking on the building and removed civilians to make room for wounded Taliban. Arrest them...

Via Daily Caller:
Doctors without Borders confirm that their hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, did not display any internationally recognized markings showing it was a hospital when a U.S. gunship attacked the facility Oct. 3, killing 22 and injuring hundreds, according to the group’s interim report released Thursday.
The report may also open the group to accusations that it violated international law by forcibly removing civilian patients in favor of wounded Taliban soldiers.
Doctors without Borders, which is globally known as Medicins Sans Frontiers or MSF, is an international organization of medical personnel that provides health services in long-lost parts of the world, including in war zones. It has charged that the Oct. 3 U.S. air strike on their Kunduz trauma center constituted a war crime.
On Nov. 5 the group released its “initial MFS internal review” that divulged new details about their activities while operating in Taliban occupied territory and about circumstances surrounding the attack.
The group’s admission that they agreed to a Taliban demand that civilian patients be removed from their beds for wounded Taliban soldiers could mean MSF and the Taliban violated Article 16 of the Geneva Convention which states: “The wounded and sick, as well as the infirm, and expectant mothers, shall be the object of particular protection and respect.”

Barack Obama: Afghanistan will not “be a source of terrorist attacks again”

I hope this statement is true, but there is no good reason to believe it. It's just Obama making up stuff again.

Via Washington Examiner
President Obama pledged that Afghanistan will no longer “be a source of terrorist attacks again,” a week before the U.S. is set to end its combat mission in the Middle Eastern nation.
“We’ve been in continuous war now for over 13 years. Next week we will be ending our combat mission in Afghanistan,” Obama told troops in Hawaii late Thursday, celebrating Christmas.
“Because of the extraordinary service of the men and women in the armed forces, Afghanistan has a chance to rebuild its own country,” he said. “We are safer. It’s not going to be a source of terrorist attacks again.”
Though the American combat mission in Afghanistan is nearly completed, at least some troops are scheduled to stay in the nation until the end of 2016.
However, Republicans argue that the major drawdown of U.S. troops in Afghanistan will create another hotbed for terrorist activity in the Middle East, as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria poses a major security threat to the region.

Sen. Lindsey Graham on recent election: "There's ample evidence of fraud,"

If you thought he was talking about Mississippi, you are wrong. Graham and McCain are fine with fraud there. It's election fraud in Afghanistan that has them concerned.
Less than a week after allegations of fraud prompted election officials in Afghanistan to delay the results of that country's presidential runoff election, Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called Friday for the two remaining Afghan candidates to allow the results to be audited.
"There's ample evidence of fraud," said Graham, according to the Wall Street Journal. "There needs to be an audit that is recognized by the Afghan people as legitimate and by the international community as legitimate."
A failure to end the standoff, McCain warned, "could put not only the political environment in Afghanistan into a crisis, but also weaken American support for the continued process" of helping Afghanistan as the country recovers from more than a decade of war.

Report: Bergdahl may have been collaborating with the Taliban...

If true, this puts a whole different light on the prisoner exchange.
Via Fox News:
A senior official confirms to Fox News that the conduct of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl — both in his final stretch of active duty in Afghanistan and then, too, during his time when he lived among the Taliban — has been thoroughly investigated by the U.S. intelligence community and is the subject of “a major classified file.”
In conveying as much, the Defense Department source confirmed to Fox News that many within the intelligence community harbor serious outstanding concerns not only that Bergdahl may have been a deserter but that he may have been an active collaborator with the enemy.
The Pentagon official added pointedly that no relevant congressional committee has sought access to the classified file, but that if such a request were made, key committee chairs would, under previous precedent, likely be granted access to it. Separately, the Pentagon confirmed Monday that it is looking into claims Americans died during the search for Bergdahl.

The Great Pretender: Obama heads to Afghanistan to pretend he cares about the troops...

What are the chances of this surprise trip and the VA scandal being related?

Marines sure are missing their hot meals in Afghanistan...

Well, I am sure Obama is still eating good...

Via NBC:
Marines at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan will lose a key daily meal starting Saturday, causing some to forgo a hot breakfast and others to work six-plus hours without refueling on cooked food, according to Marines at the base and Marine Corps officials.

The midnight ration service — known there as “midrats” — supplies breakfast to Marines on midnight-to-noon shifts and dinner to Marines who are ending noon-to-midnight work periods. It’s described as one of the few times the Marines at Leatherneck can be together in one place.

The base, which is located in Afghanistan’s southwestern Helmand Province, flanked by Iran and Pakistan, also will remove its 24-hour sandwich bar. It plans to replace the dishes long offered at midnight with pre-packaged MREs, said Marine Corps Lt. Col. Cliff Gilmore, who has been deployed in Afghanistan since February.

The moves, though unpopular with many Marines on the ground and their families back home, are emblematic of the massive drawdown of American troops in Afghanistan and the dismantling of U.S. military facilities. More than 30,000 U.S. service members will leave Afghanistan in coming months as the U.S. prepares to hand responsibility for security to Afghan forces in 2014.

Afghan Intelligence Chief Survives Crotch Bomber Attempt

What's up with Muslim extremists wanting to blow off their junk?
KABUL (AFP) — Afghan President Hamid Karzai said Saturday a suicide attack that wounded the country’s spy chief was planned in neighbouring Pakistan, and added he would raise the issue with Islamabad. [...]
On Friday, the intelligence agency said investigators found that “the organisers of this suicide attack… skillfully placed the explosives in the underpants and around the genitals of the suicide attacker”.
It is believed to be the first time in Afghanistan that a suicide bomber has carried the explosives in his underpants.
The fact that an assassin was able to get so close to one of Afghanistan’s most prominent officials had raised questions about whether the visitor was an insider known to Khalid.
But the revelation that the explosives were hidden in his underwear could also suggest that he might not have been thoroughly searched on that part of his body — an omission in many security searches in Afghanistan.

Code Pink heads to South Waziristan to protest drone strikes. What could go wrong?

I wouldn't be shocked if they were kidnapped and beheaded for being infidels. I wonder if they are taking their vagina suits
USA 26 September 2012: Seven Members of Veterans For Peace are part of a 40-member delegation organized by Code Pink and planning to be in Pakistan between September 28th and October 10th. VFP members Leah Bolger, Dave Dittemore, Bill Kelly, Jody Mackey, Rob Mulford, and Ann Wright will meet with drone victims’ families, elected officials, tribal elders, and residents of South Waziristan, where U.S. drone strikes have killed thousands, while injuring and making refugees of many more. Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin is an associate member of VFP.
VFP President Leah Bolger said, “The use of combat drones is both immoral and illegal. They violate the sovereign airspace of countries that we have not declared war with, and have killed thousands of innocent civilians. Can you imagine how the American public would react if another country murdered our citizens with drones? The U.S. military favors the use of drones because they ‘save American lives’ — when will we start thinking of the lives of others as being as valuable as our own?”

Newly elected French President François Hollande prepares to surrender in Afghanistan

Is anyone surprised?
(The Hill) — Newly elected French President François Hollande will formally announce at this month’s NATO summit that he plans to withdraw French troops from Afghanistan in 2012 despite reservations from President Obama and NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Britain’s Telegraph newspaper is reporting.
Hollande spokesman Manuel Valls said France would use the summit to “announce the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan between now and the end of the year,” the Telegraph reports. France has about 3,400 troops in Afghanistan, the fifth largest contingent.
Hollande, who takes office next week, vowed during the presidential campaign to pull out all French forces in 2012 after four French troops were shot dead by a rogue Afghan soldier.
Delivering on that promise could prove touchy for France’s relationship with NATO and the United States. An early withdrawal before 2014 would need to be agreed upon by NATO at the summit, something that seems far from assured.

Feel Good Story: Six Taliban militants blow up themselves and Mosque

Jihadi heaven is out of virgins, but they still have plenty of goats.
(AP) — Afghanistan’s intelligence agency prevented a large terrorist attack, arresting a Pakistani citizen driving a truck packed with explosives, according to a statement Thursday.
In eastern Paktya province, six Taliban militants were killed and two others wounded Thursday when the roadside bomb they were building in a mosque exploded, said Roullah Samon, a spokesman for the provincial governor. He said four of those killed were foreign fighters.

Afghanistan is the newest swing state

President Obama flies to Afghanistan to spike the "I killed bin Laden" football.

Via FOX News:
President Obama zipped through Afghanistan Tuesday on a previously unannounced visit, signing a key partnership document with Afghan President Hamid Karzai as he prepared to deliver an address to the nation on the anniversary of Usama bin Laden's death.

In excerpts released in advance of the address, the president made sweeping statements about the course and eventual conclusion of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

"We have traveled through more than a decade under the dark cloud of war. Yet here, in the pre-dawn darkness of Afghanistan, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon," he plans to say, praising America's troops and making a call to "renew America."

"This time of war began in Afghanistan, and this is where it will end," Obama said in the prepared remarks.
Alongside Karzai earlier on Tuesday, Obama declared, "Together, we're now committed to replacing war with peace."

Afghan Security Forces have killed at least 52 U.S. soldiers since 2007. Where is our apology?

Afghan Security Forces have killed at least 52 U.S. soldiers since 2007. Why aren't Americans rioting in the streets? Why aren't we demanding an apology? Why hasn't the Afghan government paid money to the families of the victims?
(CNSNews.com) – Afghan Security Forces have killed at least 52 and wounded approximately 70 of their American counterparts since 2007 in what the military describes as “green on blue” attacks, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan told lawmakers last week.
U.S. Gen. John Allen, who commands the NATO-led coalition force in Afghanistan, testified about the situation in Afghanistan during a March 22 Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
His testimony came amid growing tensions in Afghanistan prompted by a U.S. soldier allegedly killing 17 civilians, including women and children, on March 11 and American military personnel accidentally burning Korans at a military base on Feb. 20.

Pantsuit calls Republican's criticism of Obama's groveling Koran burning apology "not helpful"

Here is what the right thing to have done was.
(CNN) — Criticism of President Barack Obama’s apology for the burning of Qurans in Afghanistanis not helpful, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday in a wide-ranging interview with CNN.

“I find it somewhat troubling that our politics would enflame such a dangerous situation in Afghanistan,” Clinton said of the complaints by Republican presidential candidates and some experts about Obama’s apology.
Obama apologized Thursday in a letter to Afghan President Hamid Karzai for the burning of Qurans, which he called “inadvertent” and an “error.”

It was the right thing to do to have our president on record as saying this was not intentional, we deeply regret it,” Clinton said.

La reddition

France prepares to surrender in Afghanistan.
KABUL, Afghanistan — President Nicolas Sarkozy of France suspended military operations as part of the American-led coalition in Afghanistan on Friday and said he was considering an early pullout of his nation’s forces after a man in Afghan Army uniform shot and killed four French soldiers.

A Western official said Mr. Sarkozy’s threat could lay bare “real cracks in the coalition” at a time when the alliance is seeking a cohesive position to assure the Afghan government of its long-term commitment and to push the Taliban insurgents to negotiate a peace deal rather than continue fighting.

The Outrage Over Video of U.S. Soldiers Peeing on Taliban is Overblown

Personally, I think it was a juvenile thing to do, but it doesn't deserve the overblown outrage shown by Leon Panetta and the liberal media.
Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta said he had viewed the video and considered it “utterly deplorable.” He telephoned Afghan President Hamid Karzai and pledged a full investigation.
Actually, peeing on the enemy has many historical roots, including during the American Revolution. There is a minor Revolutionary Holiday called Peeing Day.
Peeing Day, sometimes called Pissing Day, is a local Holiday celebrated in Princeton, New Jersey on the second Saturday of March, which commemorates the retreat of Charles Mawhood and his troops from Princeton following the Battle of Princeton. This holiday is derived from a local tradition that the expulsion of Mawhood’s forces from Princeton involved urinating on them, and consists primarily of a loose re-enactment of this event.[6]
Peeing Day was first celebrated in 1877 to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Battle of Princeton. From 1877 until 1883 holiday was celebrated in January, on the exact date that British forces retreated from Princeton, but in 1884 the date of celebration was changed to March because weather conditions during the latter month were more frequently hospitable to it. Since its origin, Peeing Day has been celebrated every year except 1918, when activities which could be considered anti-British were discouraged due to the American-British Alliance of World War I.
The Taliban seem to have their panties in a bunch over the incident.
But later on Thursday, in an official statement, the Taliban dropped references to the talks and emphasized the brutality message. “We strongly condemn the inhuman act of wild American soldiers, as ever, and consider this act in contradiction with all human and ethical norms,” the statement said.
Unfortunately, the Taliban thought executing a 7-year-old boy by hanging, in June of 2010, was within human and ethical norms.
