Texas threatens legal action against Syrian refugee resettlement Agencies...

Go get'em...

AUSTIN – State officials are now threatening legal action against local refugee resettlement agencies if they don’t abide by Gov. Greg Abbott’s edict that they shouldn’t accept refugees from war-torn Syria.
The executive commissioner of the state Health and Human Services Commission wrote last week to the International Rescue Committee in Dallas that failure to cooperate with the state “may result in the termination of your contract with the state and other legal action.”
“We have been unable to achieve cooperation with your agency,” Chris Traylor, the executive commissioner, wrote. “Specifically, your agency insists on resettling certain refugees from Syria in the near future.”

Texas terror suspect was let off terrorism related charges by liberal Obama appointed judge...

Republicans should block all Obama judicial nominees until 2017.

Via Vocativ:
... He was facing up to eight years in prison if federal prosecutors had been able to convince Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Mary Murguia that the trip was related to international or domestic terrorism. Ultimately, Murguia in 2011 sentenced him to three years probation for the false statement. According to federal court records obtained by Vocativ, the judge determined that the feds didn’t make their case—despite audio recordings of Simpson talking about “jihad” with an FBI informant.[...]
In another recording, from May 29, 2009, Simpson tells Deng: “It’s time to go to Somalia, brother,” before explaining, “we gonna make it to the battlefield…it’s time to roll.” On January 7, 2010, FBI agents contacted Simpson and specifically asked whether he “discussed traveling to, or are you planning to, travel to Somalia?”
Simpson said “no.”[...]
Federal prosecutors wanted Simpson to receive the beefed-up sentence of eight years because, they argued, his crime of lying to federal authorities involved terrorism. But Judge Murguia—an Obama appointee on what is often considered to be the most left-leaning appeals court in the country—found that there was insufficient evidence that Simpson’s false statement to authorities involved international terrorism.  Read it all...

Texas National Guard is staying on the border for now...

Someone will have to stop the illegal border crossings. Barack Obama is actually encouraging them.

Via Military Times
National Guard troops sent to the Texas-Mexico border last summer are now in line to stay indefinitely and not come home in March as originally planned, Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Tuesday.
The shift comes only four weeks after Rick Perry, who ordered 1,000 armed Guard troops to the Rio Grande Valley in one of his last major acts as Texas governor, was replaced by a successor who has promised an even tougher line on border security.
Gov. Greg Abbott did not attend the announcement and no plans have been formalized. But an extended Guard deployment is the latest signal that Texas’ new conservative leadership is planning record state spending on border security, even while acknowledging that illegal crossings have slowed dramatically.[…]
Patrick’s budget in the Texas Senate calls for spending $815 million on border security — which he says is more than the last seven years combined.
The Texas Military Department estimates that a Guard force “of 400-500 best saves resources,” according to a memo from Patrick’s office.

Change: After the election is over, Wendy Davis admits she doesn't really support open carry...

Democrats will say anything to get elected or pass laws they support. The truth is secondary to their goals. Be skeptical of what Republicans say and never believe anything a Democrat says.

Former Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, in her first interview after losing by 20 points to governor-elect Greg Abbott, admitted she only claimed to support an open-carry gun law in order to win votes.
“There is one thing that I would do differently in that campaign, and it relates to the position that I took on open-carry,” Davis told the San Antonio Express-News on Monday. “I made a quick decision on that with a very short conversation with my team and it wasn't really in keeping with what I think is the correct position on that issue.”
Davis added that she does support “people’s right to own and to bear arms in appropriate situations,” but fears that open carry would be used “to intimidate and cause fear.”

Texas Gun Shop Sign: “Does one of Obama's family members have to be beheaded for “change” to happen?”

Fearless...

Via KHOU
It’s not the first time Tactical Firearms has displayed a controversial message on its outdoor marquee, but its latest sign seems to be turning more heads than usual.
It says “Does one of Obamas family members have to be beheaded for “change” to happen?”
CEO Jeremy Alcede says it’s a fair question, in the wake of two American journalists being beheaded by ISIS militants.
“I look and see what’s going on throughout the week, realize what’s an issue, what needs to be fixed, and if I think it’s important then that’s what I’ll voice my opinion,” says Alcede.
And for families driving by, who find the message offensive, Alcede says they use the opportunity to educate their children.
“You should show them the news and say this is reality kids. Beheadings happen, but they shouldn’t.”
Past signs have included shots at the President over immigration reform and gun control.

Did Texas democrats buy votes with cocaine?

Not a smidgen of possible corruption here. Move along...
MCALLEN, Texas — A developing federal investigation has brought up allegations that a Hidalgo County Commissioner paid for votes with bags of cocaine while other politicians paid for votes also with cash, cigarettes, marijuana and beer.
Court records obtained by Breitbart Texas from the arrest of two women accused of buying votes show that during the democratic primaries in 2012, a campaign manager for a Hidalgo County Commissioner who said that during the campaign, he bought $50 worth of cocaine, commonly known as an 8-ball and split it up in order to give it to the two women so they could use it to entice voters.
Earlier this week Belinda Solis and Veronica Salazar went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Ormsby who formally charged them with vote buying and set their bond at $10,000.
The two women were part of a large year and a half long FBI investigation into election corruption in Hidalgo County.

Exposing Child Protective Services abuse and cover-up in Texas

Texas State Senator: Over 100,000 illegal gang members in Texas...

Is this the fundamental change Obama wanted to bring?

Via Breitbart:
Hours before Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced he would send National Guard troops to the border, Texas state Senator Dan Patrick said there are at least 100,000 illegal immigrant gang members in the state.
On Monday's The Laura Ingraham Show, Patrick, who is also the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, said from 2008 to 2012, 143,000 illegal immigrant criminals were arrested and jailed in Texas. He said these were "hardened criminals, gang members, and other criminals that we identified as being in Texas illegally."
"We charged them with 447,000 crimes, a half-million crimes in four years, just in Texas, including over 5,000 rapes and 2,000 murders," Patrick said. "We estimate we have 100,000 gang members here illegally."
Patrick also observed during his trips to the border and detention centers that many of the "young children" are teenagers and with parents and family members. He said there is a concern that some are "gang members" and that potential terrorists can exploit the porous border.

Hero: Gov. Rick Perry sending National Guard to border...

Your move Obama.

Via The Monitor:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry is set to announce Monday that 1,000 U.S. National Guard troops will be deployed to the Rio Grande Valley, according to an internal memo detailing the plan obtained on Sunday.
State Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen, confirmed that Perry is set to announce the deployment on Monday.
“Gov. Perry plans to hold a press conference tomorrow at 2 p.m. and he is calling up the National Guard to help out on the border,” Hinojosa said Sunday evening. “Of course, we are opposed to bringing up the National Guard. We do not need to militarize the border. These are families and children. We need to manage the situation.”
The National Guard troops will be deployed to the Valley to join the Texas Department of Public Safety in its recent surge to combat human smuggling and drug trafficking amid the influx of mostly Central Americans illegally crossing the Rio Grande.
“This is not a militarization of the border,” the memo states. “The DPS and the National Guard are working to keep any drug and human trafficking south of (U.S. Highway) 83 and with the goal of keeping any smuggling from entering major highways to transport East/West/and North.”
DPS officials want to send National Guard troops into western areas of the Valley and the ranch lands further north, according to the memo.

Mossberg & Sons plan on moving some production out of Connecticut...

They are going to Texas.

Via Townhall:
America’s oldest family owned and operated gun manufacturing company O.F. Mossberg & Sons, has its eye on Texas. The company was founded in Connecticut in 1919; however, after Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) passed one of the strictest gun-control legislations in the nation last April, Mossberg & Sons is looking to expand in a more gun-friendly state.
CEO Iver Mossberg told Forbes:
“Investing in Texas was an easy decision. It’s a state that is not only committed to economic growth but also honors and respects the Second Amendment and the firearm freedoms it guarantees for our customers.”
The gun company will still be headquartered in New Haven, however, all expansion will take place in Texas. Senior vice president of sales and marketing Tom Taylor explained:
“We’re moving all wood gun stock production to our Texas facility. More of our product lines—like our modern sporting rifles—might move to Texas in the future. Texas has been very good to us. Also, our gun sales have been so dynamic over the last number of years. We’ve outgrown our facilities. This major expansion will help us keep up with demand.”

Famous illegal immigrant may be stuck in McAllen, Texas...

Illegal immigrant and former journalist and Pulitzer winner, Jose Antonio Vargas, went to McAllen, Texas as a PR stunt. He may now be stuck there....

Via Breitbart:
Jose Antonio Vargas, who made national headlines by coming out as an illegal immigrant three years ago in the New York Times, may be stuck in a border town in Texas...
He then said a DREAMer named Tania told him "the reality on the ground in a border town like McAllen." She told Vargas he "might not get through airport security, where Customs and Border Protection (CPB) also checks for IDs, and you will definitely not get through the immigration checkpoints set up within 45 miles of this border town."
“Even if you tell them you’re a U.S. citizen, they will ask you follow-up questions if they don’t believe you,” Tania told him, emphasizing that he would be asked for documentation.
Vargas conceded that he does "not have a single U.S. government-issued ID" and, like most of the country's eleven million illegal immigrants, does not have a driver's license. But Vargas notes ever since he came out as an illegal immigrant in a New York Times magazine profile, "I’ve been the most privileged undocumented immigrant in the country."
"The visibility, frankly, has protected me," he writes. "While hundreds of thousands of immigrants have been detained and deported in the past three years, I produced and directed a documentary film, Documented, which was shown in theaters and aired on CNN less than two weeks ago."
He has also co-founded a group that advocates for illegal immigrants and has been "traveling non-stop for three years, visiting more than 40 states," by using "a valid passport that was issued by my native country, the Philippines."
"But each flight is a gamble," he concedes. "My passport lacks a visa. If TSA agents discover this, they can contact CBP, which, in turn, can detain me."

Be careful what you vote for, you may actually have to pay for it...

Of course this doesn't apply to many democratic voters. They are leeches...
Via Hot Air
I’m at the breaking point,” said Gretchen Gardner, an Austin artist who bought a 1930s bungalow in the Bouldin neighborhood just south of downtown in 1991 and has watched her property tax bill soar to $8,500 this year.
“It’s not because I don’t like paying taxes,” said Gardner, who attended both meetings. “I have voted for every park, every library, all the school improvements, for light rail, for anything that will make this city better. But now I can’t afford to live here anymore. I’ll protest my appraisal notice, but that’s not enough. Someone needs to step in and address the big picture.”
In Texas, there are more than 3,900 localities that impose property taxes, including school districts, counties, and special districts. Texas’ property tax burden has grown from approximately 1 percent of value in the early 1980s to nearly 3 percent today.
The rising burden from property tax is worse for the housing-rich but income-poor elderly homeowners. For example, elderly homeowners tend to move more often to reduce their property tax burden, which is an additional cost of owning a home for those who can least afford to move.

Amnesty seeker driving Texas Border Patrol to brink of collapse...

'Kelly File' Exclusive: Texas Border Patrol on Brink of Collapse

Consequences...
Filmmaker Dennis Michael Lynch has chronicled the problems along the Mexican border in his documentaries, including his latest: They Come to America II. Lynch sat down with Megyn Kelly to reveal some new information about just how bad things are getting at the Texas border.
Lynch said his information, which comes from “the guys who are down there” on the border, indicates that the Border Patrol there is nearing the point of collapse.
“What they told me is worse than I’ve ever been told before,” said Lynch, adding that he is being told there are a stunning 2,000 arrests of illegal immigrants a day in the Rio Grande Valley.
Lynch said the influx of immigrants from Central America, not Mexico, is becoming more than the Border Patrol in Texas can handle.
“The big driver of it all is the promise of amnesty. That’s what they’re all being told. We’re at the point right now where people are coming across and they’re just handing themselves in because they know they’re not going to be sent back,” said Lynch. “It’s so bad I don’t even know what to say anymore.”
Lynch explained that many illegal immigrants are just being brought to bus depots, where they’re taking buses to whatever area of the U.S. they want.

Mexican drug cartels hanging mannequins from billboards in Texas

This is both weird and scary. Can we secure the border now?
EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso police are investigating two mysterious billboards that appeared just off I-10, each with a mannequin hanging from a noose. .
“It’s not an advertisement,” said Mike Mons, regional manager for Lamar Outdoor advertising.
The first vandalized billboard off I-10 had Plata o Plomo in large black letters which translates into silver or lead. It is usually a warning targeting police or government officials in Mexico. The warning: work with a cartel and take a bribe or get a bullet.
The hanging mannequin was dressed in a suit and tie.
“This symbol has historically been used by Mexican drug cartels to threaten or intimidate Mexican citizens, business owners and government officials; however, we have never experienced this in El Paso,” said police in a statement released to media.

Demos abandon 'Abortion Barbie'...

Priorities...
Via WSJ:
Despite the hype surrounding Texas Democrat Wendy Davis’s run for governor, the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association didn’t include her state in a list of top targets in 2014.
Ms. Davis, a state senator, gained national acclaim for filibustering a bill last year that increased regulation of abortion clinics and banned abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Polls show Republican nominee Greg Abbott with a double-digit lead in the state, which hasn’t elected a Democrat since 1994.
“We’re hopeful in Texas but we all understand that Democrats haven’t won Texas in a long time,” DGA Chairman and Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin told reporters Tuesday at the Third Way think tank. He added, “We hope this will be our year.”

Toyota tells California goodbye

5000 jobs head to business friendly Texas...
Toyota Motor Corp. plans to move large numbers of jobs from its sales and marketing headquarters in Torrance to suburban Dallas, according to a person familiar with the automaker’s plans. …
The automaker won’t be the first big company Texas has poached from California.
Occidental Petroleum Corp. said in February that it was relocating from Los Angeles to Houston, making it one of around 60 companies that have moved to Texas since July 2012, according to Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Perry last month visited the California to recruit companies. The group Americans for Economic Freedom also recently launched a $300,000 advertising campaign in which Perry contends 50 California companies have plans to expand or relocate in Texas because it offers a better business climate.
Like these other companies, Toyota could also save money in an environment of lower business taxes, real estate prices and cost of living.

Strange: Leading Senate Democratic Candidate in Texas Compares Obama To Hitler...

She is a racist! Oh, she is democrat. Never mind.

Via Noah Rothman:
In what has to be a blow for Democratic partisans who were convinced that state Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) can single-handedly turn the Lone Star State blue in November, the Texas Democratic Party appears to be on the verge of tarnishing its reputation. According to a poll conducted by the University of Texas and the Texas Tribune, the frontrunner to face likely incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in November is Kesha Rogers. She is also somewhat… unhinged.
Originally flagged by HotAir’s Guy Benson, the poll shows Rogers leading her nearest opponent in the race to face Cornyn, Dallas area dentist David Alameel, by 8 points – outside the poll’s 6.04 percent margin of error.
But Democrats might be careful what they wish for…
“As an acolyte of perennial presidential fringe candidate Lyndon LaRouche, she believes the U.S. economy is secretly controlled by a cabal of London financial institutions,” wrote Dallas Morning News reporter Nick Swartsell in December. “She’s paraded around Houston with a giant picture of Obama sporting a Hitler mustache and compared the Affordable Care Act to 1930s-era Nazi eugenics policies.”
