Liberal heartache: Socialists take a beating in Venezuela's election...

It's time for Maduro to declare a trumped up emergency.

Via The Telegraph:
Venezuela's opposition trounced the ruling Socialists on Sunday to win the legislature for the first time in 16 years and gain a long-sought platform to challenge President Nicolas Maduro's rule of the OPEC nation.
The opposition Democratic Unity coalition won 99 seats to the Socialists' 46 in the 167-national National Assembly, the election board said, with some districts still to be counted.
Fireworks were set off in celebration in pro-opposition districts of Caracas when the results were announced, while government supporters dismantled planned victory parties.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka: "I don’t know what the difference is between a Democratic Socialist and a Democrat."

I don't know what the difference between a union leader and a Socialist is anymore either...
(CNS)- AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka told Hardball host Chris Matthews, "I don’t know what the difference is between a Democratic Socialist and a Democrat."
During an appearance on the MSNBC program last week, Trumka was asked by Matthews about Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
"Nobody’s called him a Socialist - except Bernie Sanders calls himself one, you don’t think that’s important?" Matthews asked.

Bernie Sanders has a cure for #SCOTUScare: Medicare for all...

Socialist...

Via Mediaite:
Senator and 2016 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning that he would move for a “Medicare-for-all, single payer” health care system, though he acknowledged that this was not an immediately practical goal.
“We need to join the rest of the industrialized world,” Sanders said. “We are the only major country on earth that doesn’t guarantee health care to all people as a right, and yet we end up spending much more than they do.”
“So I do believe that we have to move toward a Medicare for all, single-payer system,” Sanders said, adding that he had “certainly voted for” the ACA. “It’s not going to happen tomorrow, but that certainly should be the goal.”

Venezuela’s Socialist President: “We will expropriate whatever needs to be expropriated,”

He should appropriate some toilet paper because Venezuelans still don't have any...

Via ElUniversal:
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro set Monday, February 12, as deadline for companies to abide by the Law on Costs and Fair Prices.
“We will expropriate whatever needs to be expropriated,” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro cautioned in reference to the new Law of Costs and Fair Prices.
Concomitantly, the president urged private companies to comply with the new law. His statements came during the commemoration of the coup attempt of February 4, 1992.
The Venezuelan president threatened to take “the most radical measures to protect our people’s economy.”
“I make an appeal to the country economic sectors, for work and self-regulation of commodities and prices. You have time until next Monday; otherwise, I will take the most radical measures,” Maduro specified.
“I am determined to make an economic revolution. Nobody, nothing will stop me!” he said.

Barack Obama: “People call me a socialist sometimes, but you’ve got to meet real socialists"

Obama denies he is a socialist.

Via US News:
Obama also defended himself against charges that he’s a socialist.
“People call me a socialist sometimes, but you’ve got to meet real socialists, you’ll have a real sense of what a socialist is,” he said. “I’m talking about lowering the corporate tax rate, my health care reform is based on the private marketplace, the stock market is doing pretty good the last time I checked and it is true that I am concerned about growing inequality in the system, but nobody questions the efficacy of a market economy in terms of producing wealth and innovation and keeping us competitive.”
He was a candidate for the socialist-leaning New Party of Chicago in the 1990s.

Who was the New Party?

Via NRO:
The documents reveal that the New Party’s central aim was to move the United States steadily closer to European social democracy, a goal that Mitt Romney has also attributed to Obama. New Party leaders disdained mainstream Democrats, considering them tools of business, and promised instead to create a partnership between elected officials and local community organizations, with the goal of socializing the American economy to an unprecedented degree.
The party’s official “statement of principles,” which candidates seeking endorsement from the Chicago chapter were asked to support, called for a “peaceful revolution” and included redistributive proposals substantially to the left of the Democratic party.
To get a sense of the ideology at play, consider that the meeting at which Obama joined the party opened with the announcement of a forthcoming event featuring the prominent socialist activist Frances Fox Piven. The Chicago New Party sponsored a luncheon with Michael Moore that same year.

French Socialists continue their obsession with high taxes...

This time they want to tax salaries over €1 million at a 75% rate. This idea is making Barack Obama drool...
Businesses rather than employees will foot the bill for a new 75 percent tax on salaries over €1 million, French Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici said in an interview with Les Echos on Thursday, while a plan to cap directors’ pay has been dropped.

French businesses will face a 75 percent tax on employees’ salaries above €1 million a year under new legislation set to be introduced by the country’s government in 2014.

However, the government will stop short of introducing a cap on executive pay in the private sector, France’s Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici revealed in an interview with French daily Les Echos published on Thursday.

Apparently, Obama doesn't like being called a "Big Spending Socialist"...

He should try not actually being a "Big Spending Socialist"...

Via Breitbart:
“When I’m over here at the Congressional picnic folks are coming up and taking pictures with their family. I promise you, Michelle and I are very nice to them and we have a wonderful time. But it doesn’t prevent them from going on the floor of the House and blast me for being a big spending socialist.”

Obama picks European Socialist to help shape US global development policy....

At least Obama is picking someone from a system he respects  and supports...

Via France24:

France’s Esther Duflo, a star economist who was once named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, has been nominated by US President Barack Obama to help shape US global development policy.

France’s Esther Duflo, a world renowned economist, has been nominated by US President Barack Obama to join a government body dedicated to advising the administration on global development policy.

Called the Global Development Council, the group was founded by Obama in 2010 to help shape US development efforts abroad.

While Duflo’s nomination will likely be viewed with a sense of pride in France, it comes as Obama’s leadership continues to be dogged by unflattering comparisons in the media to European-style socialism.

Obvious: Sarah Palin calls Obama a "Socialist"

Telling it like it is...

Via HuffPo:
“Barack Obama is a socialist,” former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), claimed on Fox News Monday night, speaking about her concerns regarding the a fiscal cliff deal, growing American debt and a president who, she said, could even be leading the nation on a slow march toward communism.
Talking with Sean Hannity, Palin said that the opening offer Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner presented to Republicans last week to avert the fiscal cliff was a dangerous proposition.
“A very scary proposal was recently revealed by Geithner essentially saying, ‘Let the president have free rein on raising the debt ceiling to whatever level he wants it.’ That’s a very scary thought,” she said, pointing to Obama’s supposedly “socialist” views.
“He believes in socialism, in redistributing, in confiscating hard-earned dollars of our small businessmen and women so that they cannot re-invest their dollars and hire more people and grow and expand,” Palin continued. “Instead he believes in these failed socialist policies. And I say that not to personally condemn our president, but I say it because I face reality, and I see what’s going on, and I see the path that we are on and the fact that Barack Obama has not had a budget in the four years that he’s been in office and not been worried about it and continues to spend recklessly other people’s money. And that is a sign of that idea of loving socialism.”

Rudy Giuliani: Obama will turn the nation more socialist than France if re-elected

Rudy Giuliani tells it like it is...
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani had harsh words for President Barack Obama during a campaign stop in Las Vegas, saying he has accomplished nothing and will turn the nation more socialist than France if re-elected.
“What do we want to elect, an unsuccessful person? We tried that, OK, we tried a person of no accomplishment,” Giuliani said. “Now let’s try something different, let’s try a man who has actually been successful in life.” [...]
During his stop in the state with the nation’s highest unemployment rate, Giuliani accused Obama of being anti-business and creating “thousands of pages of regulations” aimed at turning the country into a socialist government.
“Anybody in Las Vegas who is going to vote for him is out of their mind, now that’s probably true in the rest of the country, too,” Giuliani said. “He’s going to make France look like a low-tax country.”

France goes all in for Socialism

Socialists now control the presidency and an absolute majority of Parliament in France.  Let's see how that works out for them.
(AFP) — France’s Socialists won control of parliament Sunday, handing President Francois Hollande the convincing majority he needs to push through his tax-and-spend agenda to battle the eurozone debt crisis.
The Socialists’ bloc obtained between 308 and 320 seats — an absolute majority in the 577-seat National Assembly — and so will not need to rely on the Greens or the far left, polling institutes CSA, Ipsos and Sofres said.
The far-right National Front was set to return to parliament for the first time since 1998 after winning at least two seats in the south of the country, although party leader Marine Le Pen lost her own bid for a seat.
Hollande, who defeated right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy in a May presidential election, had urged voters to give him the MPs he needs to steer France through the eurozone crisis, rising unemployment and a faltering economy.
“The task before us is immense,” Hollande’s Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said as results came in from the run-off vote. “Nothing will be easy.”

Confirmed: Barack Obama was a member of the Socialist New Party

President Obama's campaign has denied Obama was ever a member of the Socialist new Party in the 1990s. New documents reveal they weren't being truthful.

Via NRO:
In late October 2008, when I wrote here at National Review Online that Obama had been a member of the New Party, his campaign sharply denied it, calling my claim a “crackpot smear.” Fight the Smears, an official Obama-campaign website, staunchly maintained that “Barack has been a member of only one political party, the Democratic Party.” I rebutted this, but the debate was never taken up by the mainstream press.

Recently obtained evidence from the updated records of Illinois ACORN at the Wisconsin Historical Society now definitively establishes that Obama was a member of the New Party. He also signed a “contract” promising to publicly support and associate himself with the New Party while in office.

Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapter read as follows:
Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.

Foreign Press Calls Out Obama: "Barack Obama is Trying to Make The US a More Socialist State."

The American press still has their heads stuck up their collective butts in the sand, but Janet Daley, who writes for The Telegraph in Great Britain, can see clearly what is happening to America.
Listening to the President's State of the Union message last week was like a surreal visit to our own recent past: there were almost word for word all those interminable Gordon Brown Budgets that preached "fairness" while listing endless ways in which central government would intervene in every form of economic activity.
Later, in a television interview, Mr. Obama described his programme of using higher taxes on the wealthy to bankroll new government spending as "a recipe for a fair, sound approach to deficit reduction and rebuilding this country."  To which we who come from the future can only shout, "No-o-o, go back!  Don't come down this road!"
As we try desperately to extricate ourselves from the consequences of that philosophy, which sounds so eminently reasonable ("giving everybody a fair share": the President called it), we could tell America a thing or two-if it would only listen.
If his [Obama's] European credentials were up to date, he would know that this was precisely the social model that is causing the EU to implode, and whose hopeless contradictions the best economic minds on the Continent are attempting, unsuccessfully, to resolve.
He [Obama] wants to import the democratic socialism that Europe embraced after the war, which was for European cultural reasons, imbued with aristocratic paternalism and Marxist notions of bourgeois guilt.  If democratic socialism was ever a solution to Europe's problems (and the present crisis is making that seem less and less likely), it is certainly not an answer t... Fidel Castro wants to replace Obama with a socialist robot or something

Obama robot pics on Sodahead

Fidel Castro has definitely lost that "Hope and Change" feeling.
(AFP)Cuban revolutionary icon Fidel Castro said Monday that a “robot” would be better in the White House than President Barack Obama — or any of the Republicans candidates in the 2012 election race.

“Is it not obvious that the worst of all is the absence in the White House of a robot capable of governing the United States and preventing a war that would end the life of our species?” Castro, 85, wrote in one of the “reflections” he often publishes in Cuba’s state-controlled media.

Under the title “The Best President for the United States,” Cuba’s ex-president said that if faced with a choice between Obama, a Republican rival or a robot, “90 percent of voting Americans, especially Hispanics, blacks and the growing number of the impoverished middle class, would vote for the robot.”

Obama, Castro said, is “hopelessly immersed in seeking re-election,” and “the dreams of (civil rights icon) Martin Luther King are thousands of light years further away than the nearest inhabitable planet.” Read more here..

Gov. Rick Perry: Obama Is “Absolutely” a Socialist

Gov. Rick Perry's strength is not being afraid to tell it like he sees it. In this Bill O'Reilly interview, Perry minces no words when he calls Barack Obama a Socialist.

Via Fox Nation:

Great quote from Rick Perry:
"When the good lord calls you home, the government should not come get your home."
If Perry could perform on this level in debates, he would still be the GOP 2012 front-runner.
