Tweet of the Day: Contrasting AP coverage of Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina...

Palestinian Terrorist slams car into crowd killing a baby. AP headline, "“Israeli Police Shoot Man”…

This kind of bias by the mainstream media is undermining democracy and freedom around the world. Democracy and belief in freedom depend on an informed electorate, not an electorate fed propaganda and bullsh*t.

AP has now changed the headline and story, but you can see the original in the html link. http://news.yahoo.com/israeli-police-shoot-man-east-jerusalem-153643679.html?soc_src=copy

I can't find any comment at the link about why the story and headline were altered.

Lapdog Media Alert: AP admits fixing Obama gaffe...

I wonder if George Bush wondering why he didn't get the same treatment.
SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - In an Aug. 7 story on President Barack Obama's comments on the need to deepen U.S. harbors, The Associated Press wrongly inserted an interpretive phrase in parentheses into a quote by Obama:
"If we don't deepen our ports all along the Gulf - (and in) places like Charleston, S.C., or Savannah, Ga., or Jacksonville, Fla. - if we don't do that, these ships are going to go someplace else and we'll lose jobs," Obama said.
Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville are not Gulf ports. It wasn't known if the president was suggesting they were. The AP should not have added the phrase in an effort to clarify his statement.

Eric Holder approved DOJ spying on AP phone records...

The DOJ has been spying on the press...
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative’s top executive called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into how news organizations gather the news.

The records obtained by the Justice Department listed incoming and outgoing calls, and the duration of each call, for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and the main number for AP reporters in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP.

In all, the government seized those records for more than 20 separate telephone lines assigned to AP and its journalists in April and May of 2012. The exact number of journalists who used the phone lines during that period is unknown but more than 100 journalists work in the offices whose phone records were targeted on a wide array of stories about government and other matters.
The head rat at the DOJ approved the operation...

Via Philip Klein:
On Monday afternoon, the Associated Press reported that the U.S. Department of Justice had “secretly obtained two months of telephone records” from 20 phone lines assigned to reporters and editors from the global news organization. The shocking revelation comes on top of news that the IRS targeted conservative groups for special scrutiny. It will be harder for President Obama to pin the DOJ’s action on lower level bureaucrats, however, because requests to subpoena news organization records require the approval of Attorney General Eric Holder.

Change: AP admits Obama administration held off avalanche of new regulations for political purposes...

Think of this as the regulatory "fiscal cliff."
WASHINGTON (AP) —...For months, federal agencies and the White House have sidetracked dozens of major regulations that cover everything from power plant pollution to workplace safety to a crackdown on Wall Street.
The rules had been largely put on hold during the presidential campaign as the White House sought to quiet Republican charges that President Barack Obama was an overzealous regulator who is killing U.S. jobs.
But since the election, the Obama administration has quietly reopened the regulations pipeline.
In recent weeks, the Environmental Protection Agency has proposed rules to update water quality guidelines for beaches and other recreational waters and deal with runoff from logging roads. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, meanwhile, has proposed long-delayed regulations requiring auto makers to include event data recorders – better known as “black boxes” – in all new cars and light trucks beginning in 2014.
The administration also has initiated several rules to implement its health care overhaul, including a new fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions.

Shocking: AP uses weasel words when describing al-Qaida role in 9-11

AP should quit pandering to Muslims and report the facts.

Via Daily Caller:
More than a decade after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the Associated Press doesn’t seem prepared to definitely pin the blame on al-Qaida, at least in print.
In an article published late Monday night about a mock movie poster warning that al-Qaida wants to return to New York City, the AP wouldn’t definitively state al-Qaida was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. “Al-Qaida has been blamed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which destroyed the World Trade Center and killed thousands of people,” the article reads.
Asked to respond to the “has been blamed” formulation, AP director of Media Relations Paul Colford told The Daily Caller in an email: “We don’t doubt that AQ was behind 9/11.”
Yet a search on Lexis-Nexis found numerous similar word choices in AP stories suggesting that it is not a fact that al-Qaida was responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks.
Keep on reading…
In 2004, Osama Bin Laden admitted responsibility for 9-11 on an 18 minute tape.
In the 18-minute tape, bin Laden, who appeared to be sitting or standing at a table against a neutral background, said: "Despite entering the fourth year after Sept. 11, Bush is still deceiving you and hiding the truth from you and therefore the reasons are still there to repeat what happened."
Bin Laden said he thought of the method of attacking U.S. skyscrapers when he saw Israeli aircraft bombing tower blocks in Lebanon in 1982.

"We decided to destroy towers in America," he said. "God knows that it had not occurred to our mind to attack the towers, but after our patience ran out and we saw the injustice and inflexibility of the American-Israeli alliance toward our people in Palestine and Lebanon, this came to my mind."

Although there was no way to authenticate the tape or say when it was made, it referenced the upcoming presidential election.

Priceless: AP Calls BS on Obama's Jobs Speech

Liberal AP calls BS on Obama's claim his jobs bill is payed for and calls his speech "conventional Washington rhetoric."

(AP)- ...Underscoring the gravity of the nation's high employment rate, Obama chose a joint session of Congress, normally reserved for a state of the union speech, to lay out his proposals. But if the moment was extraordinary, the plan he presented was conventional Washington rhetoric in one respect: It employs sleight-of-hand accounting.

A look at some of Obama's claims and how they compare with the facts:

OBAMA: "Everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything.

THE FACTS: Obama did not spell out exactly how he would pay for the measures contained in his nearly $450 billion American Jobs Act, but said he would send his proposed specifics in a week to the new congressional supercommittee charged with finding budget savings...

Essentially, the jobs plan is an IOU from a president and lawmakers who may not even be in office down the road when the bills come due. Today's Congress cannot bind a later one for future spending. A future Congress could simply reverse it.

AP Poll Finds Opposition to Obamacare Down to 30 percent

Weekly Standard
Don't believe it for a minute. The Weekly Standard explains why.
(Weekly Standard)- A widely reprinted AP story, based on a recent AP/GfK poll, is entitled, “Opposition to health care law eases.” Don’t believe it. What has eased isn’t the level of opposition to Obamacare, but rather the level of effort that AP/GfK has made to ensure that its polling sample is representative of American voters.

When the AP/GfK poll screened for likely voters a couple of weeks before the election, it estimated that 48 percent of voters leaned Republican and that 42 percent leaned Democratic (which the election showed to be about right). In its latest survey — the one that serves as the basis for the AP story — AP/GfK didn’t screen for likely voters and didn’t screen for registered voters. Instead, it merely surveyed 1,001 adults. The result?  The percentage of Democratic-leaning respondents stayed the same (42 percent), but the percentage of Republican-leaning respondents dropped by 12 points, to 36 percent.

AP reported in 2008 Obama's grandmother was christian. She went to Mecca and prayed for his conversion to Islam this year.

Back in March of 2008, during the early heat of the Democratic Presidential primary, AP ran a story debunking the rumor Barack Obama is a Muslim. As part of that story. AP claimed President Obama's paternal grandmother, "Sarah" was a christian.
Obama's grandfather had converted to Islam from Roman Catholicism and taken the name Hussein, Sarah Obama said, but his children had inherited only the name, not the religion. Each person should be able to choose how they worshipped, she said.

"In the world of today, children have different religions from their parents," she said. She, too, is a Christian.
President Obama's paternal grandmother attended Hajj in Mecca this year and prayed for his conversion to Islam.
U.S. President Barack Obama's Kenyan grandmother says she prayed during a hajj pilgrimage to Mecca for the American leader to convert to Islam.

'I prayed for my grandson Barack to convert to Islam,' said Sarah Omar, 88, in an interview with Al-Watan Saudi daily held in Jeddah after she had performed hajj.

The paper said that Omar was in Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage along with her son, Obama's uncle Saeed Hussein Obama, and four of her grandchildren.

Omar told the newspaper that she could only discuss hajj matters and would not comment on Obama's politics.

This is just another example of the lies and deceptions the mainstream media disseminated in order to get Barack Obama elected President.

AP Puts Lipstick on Housing Market Pig

Here is an excerpt from the AP story. (accent is mine)

AP reported:
U.S. homebuilders battered by the worst summer for home sales in a decade are already looking ahead to spring, saying they feel somewhat more optimistic about the prospect for an uptick in sales.

The National Association of Home Builders said Tuesday its monthly index of builders' sentiment edged up in November to 16, the highest reading since June.
Here is a table of the Housing Market Index (HMI) for the last 25 years.

Via NewsBusters:

How anyone can look at that chart and feel in anyway optimistic the housing market has entered an upturn is beyond me.

Tom Blumer over at NewsBusters opined:
The AP's Veiga "somehow" forgot to tell readers that the NAHB's "highest since June" reading was really "the same as June." In historical context, saying something good about October's result is like getting excited when an 0-12 NFL team finally wins a game -- in overtime, because the refs blew a call that cost the other team the game.

AP directs its staff in memo earlier not to use the term "Ground Zero Mosque"

AP directs its staff in memo earlier not to use the term "Ground Zero Mosque." Instead, They should call it the "BC-NYC Mosque" or:
_ mosque 2 blocks from WTC site
_ Muslim (or Islamic) center near WTC site
_ mosque near ground zero
_ mosque near WTC site

From AP:
Here is some guidance on covering the NYC mosque story, with assists from Chad Roedemeier in the NYC bureau and Terry Hunt in Washington:

1. We should continue to avoid the phrase "ground zero mosque" or "mosque at ground zero" on all platforms. ...

Sarah Palin has called AP out for their verbal subterfuge.

AP Fact Check: Your Health Insurance Premiums Will Not go Down

AP has fact checked President Obama's claim your health care premiums will go down under Obamacare. They found he is full of 'you know what.'

AP reported:
Washington (AP) - Buyers, beware: President Barack Obama says his health care overhaul will lower premiums by double digits, but check the fine print.

Premiums are likely to keep going up even if the health care bill passes, experts say. If cost controls work as advertised, annual increases would level off with time. But don't look for a rollback. Instead, the main reason premiums would be more affordable is that new government tax credits would help cover the cost for millions of people.

Listening to Obama pitch his plan, you might not realize that's how it works.

AP Fact Checks "Going Rogue" With Eleven Reporters

AP had eleven reporters fact check Sarah Palin's new book. They claim to have found six errors. Even if true, six errors would be a small amount for a biographical book with thousands of facts. However, some of AP alleged errors are highly questionable.

From Power Line Blog:
The Associated Press got an advance copy of Sarah Palin's book, Going Rogue, and assigned eleven reporters, apparently, to try to find errors in it. The eleven collaborated on an article titled "FACT CHECK: Palin's book goes rogue on some facts." In fact, though, the AP's catalogue of alleged errors--six in total--is thin at best.

The AP starts with this one:
PALIN: Says she made frugality a point when traveling on state business as Alaska governor, asking "only" for reasonably priced rooms and not "often" going for the "high-end, robe-and-slippers" hotels.

THE FACTS: Although she usually opted for less-pricey hotels while governor, Palin and daughter Bristol stayed five days and four nights at the $707.29-per-night Essex House luxury hotel (robes and slippers come standard) for a five-hour women's leadership conference in New York in October 2007. With air fare, the cost to Alaska was well over $3,000.

This is frankly pathetic. Palin says she didn't "often" stay at high-end hotels, and the AP counters by saying she did, once. Yes, that's why she said "not often" rather than "never." What is indisputable is that Palin sold the Governor's private jet and flew commercial, thereby saving the taxpayers a large amount of money and qualifying her as a frugal traveler.

AP Fact Checks Obama's Health Care Speech and Finds Problems

The Associated Press has fact checked many of the statements in President Obama's health care speech to a joint session of Congress. They found what they politely characterized as "a variety of oversimplifications and omissions." I prefer the way Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C) put it when he let his emotions get the best of him during the speech. "You Lie," Mr. President.

From AP via Yahoo:
OBAMA: "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits either now or in the future. Period."

THE FACTS: ...The long-term prognosis for costs of the health care legislation has not been good.

OBAMA: "Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have....
