Astronomical Increase: Feds ship 4,000 more assault rifles to local law enforcement in 3 months after Ferguson...
Police militarization continues and actually increased in the aftermath of Ferguson.
Via The Washington Times:
Via The Washington Times:
The federal government shipped nearly 4,000 more assault rifles to local law enforcement agencies in the three months following the Ferguson riots, marking a huge surge in the amount of lethal firearms being doled out to police and sheriff’s offices.
The Ferguson riots drew attention and criticism to the massive firepower state and local police are now able to bring to bear on their citizens, and earned scrutiny for the Pentagon project, known as the 1033 program, that helps arm many of those agencies by making surplus military equipment available to them.
President Obama called for a review of the program, civil rights advocates said the local police had become indistinguishable from the military, and even some police departments questioned their own policies.

Alleged Black Panther Ferguson bombing plot failed because there was no money on an EBT card...
So, the Black Panthers allegedly involved in the alleged were going to buy bombs with a girlfriends EBT card money. How does this make you feel about your tax dollars going to welfare and food stamps?
Via Stl. Today:
Via Stl. Today:
Two men indicted last week on federal weapons charges allegedly had plans to bomb the Gateway Arch — and to kill St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch and Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson — the Post-Dispatch has learned.
Sources close to the investigation were uncertain whether the men had the capability to carry out the plans, although the two allegedly did buy what they thought was a pipe bomb in an undercover law enforcement sting.
The men wanted to acquire two more bombs, the sources said, but could not afford to do it until one suspect’s girlfriend’s Electronic Benefit Transfer card was replenished. […]
One of the defendants’ plans, the sources said, included planting a bomb inside the observation deck at the top of the Arch. It was not clear how they could have gotten a bomb past airport-style security screening for rides up.

KMOV-TV reports that the majority of stores that were damaged or completely destroyed during Monday night’s violent riots in Ferguson were minority owned.
Most of the damaged businesses were on West Florissant Avenue and included: Walgreens, Little Caesers Pizza, Autozone, Beauty Town, Title Max, Family Dollar Store, and O’Reilly Auto Parts. Small-business owner Natalie Dubose was in tears when she realized her cake store was attacked by vandals.

Missouri governor declares state of emergency in advance of Ferguson Grand Jury decision...
Storm clouds are forming...
(Reuters) – Missouri’s governor declared a state of emergency on Monday ahead of a pending grand jury decision on whether to file criminal charges against a white police officer for the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Missouri.
Jay Nixon said in an executive order that he was taking the action because “there is the possibility of expanded unrest” regardless of the findings of federal and state investigations, which he said could soon be announced.
Obama meets national leaders, concerned about Ferguson staying on course...
WTH does "staying on course mean? "
Via NY Times:
Via NY Times:
Some of the national leaders met with President Obama on Nov. 5 for a gathering that included a conversation about Ferguson.
According to the Rev. Al Sharpton, who has appeared frequently in St. Louis with the Brown family and delivered a speech at Mr. Brown’s funeral, Mr. Obama “was concerned about Ferguson staying on course in terms of pursuing what it was that he knew we were advocating. He said he hopes that we’re doing all we can to keep peace.”
Protest leaders said wholesale change was ultimately what they were demanding, though not all agreed on what that meant. Some called for the removal of the Ferguson police chief or the entire department. Others said they want the police to wear cameras; civilian review boards for all police shootings; or a requirement that ethnic and racial makeup of police departments match the communities they serve.

Shock Video: Officer Darren Wilson videotaped last year threatening to lock a man up for taking his picture...
According to this story, Officer Wilson actually did lock the man up. I would like to see the rest of the video, but what is posted here makes Officer Darren Wilson look like one of those douchbag cops who think they are our rulers, not our servants.
'If you wanna take a picture of me one more time, I’m gonna lock your ass up.'

Two contractors who don't live in Ferguson confirm other witnesses stories that Brown had hands up...
These two contractors claim they were 50 feet away from Officer Wilson when Michael Brown was shot. They confirm the 4 other local witnesses who claim Brown was gunned down like a dog. One has his face blurred in the video. One is clearly Caucasian.
(CNN) -- Two men, shocked at what they saw, describe an unarmed teenager with his hands up in the air as he's gunned down by a police officer.
They were contractors doing construction work in Ferguson, Missouri, on the day Michael Brown was killed. And the men, who asked not to be identified after CNN contacted them, said they were about 50 feet away from Officer Darren Wilson when he opened fire.An exclusive cell phone video captures their reactions during the moments just after the shooting."He had his f**n hands up," one of the men says in the video. The man told CNN he heard one gunshot, then another shot about 30 seconds later."The cop didn't say get on the ground. He just kept shooting," the man said. That same witness described the gruesome scene, saying he saw Brown's "brains come out of his head," again stating, "his hands were up."

Report: Michael Brown Juvenal record had no convictions or active cases for the most serious types of felonies.
Some had claimed he had previously had second-degree murder charges as a juvenile. That appears to be false.
The Post Dispatch reported:
The Post Dispatch reported:
Michael Brown was never found delinquent of the juvenile equivalents of any Class A or B felony charges, and was not facing any at the time he died, a court official said this morning at a hearing on whether his juvenile records should be released.
The Post-Dispatch had filed a petition in St. Louis County Circuit Court to unseal any records about him in family court, if any existed.
Cynthia Harcourt, a lawyer for St. Louis County Juvenile Officer Kip Seeley, argued against releasing those records, but acknowledged that there were no convictions or active cases for the most serious types of felonies.
Class A felonies include second-degree murder and first-degree robbery; the penalties in adult court range from 10 years in prison to death. Class B felonies include voluntary manslaughter, second-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, with a maximum penalty of five to 15 years.

Desperation: Demos try to use Ferguson to rally blacks in 2014 midterms...
Never let a good crisis go to waste...
Via NY Times
Via NY Times
With their Senate majority imperiled, Democrats are trying to mobilize African-Americans outraged by the shooting in Ferguson, Mo., to help them retain control of at least one chamber of Congress for President Obama’s final two years in office.
In black churches and on black talk radio, African-American civic leaders have begun invoking the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, along with conservative calls to impeach Mr. Obama, as they urge black voters to channel their anger by voting Democratic in the midterm elections, in which minority turnout is typically lower.
“Ferguson has made it crystal clear to the African-American community and others that we’ve got to go to the polls,” said Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia and a civil-rights leader. “You participate and vote, and you can have some control over what happens to your child and your country.”
The push is an attempt to counter Republicans’ many advantages in this year’s races, including polls that show Republican voters are much more engaged in the elections at this point — an important predictor of turnout.

Heroes: St. Louis Tea Party helping Ferguson businesses hurt by rioting and looting...
However you feel about Officer Wilson shooting Mr. Brown,it was shameful for rioters to loot and damage Ferguson businesses. they had nothing to do with it.
Via BPR
While liberals “leaders” were crowing for the cameras and pretending to pray, St. Louis conservatives were taking some positive steps toward actually helping the Ferguson community torn up by rioting.Keep on reading
The St. Louis Tea Party is organizing a “BUYcott” of businesses along the now-infamous Florissant Avenue where some of the worst looting took place.
It’s an idea that helps the people directly affected by the riots that followed the police shooting death of Michael Brown on Aug. 9, but it could also help change the media-generated image of the tea party nationally.
The national media, naturally, yawned, but the impact is real. And it’s still going on, with another event planned for this weekend.

Video: Audio Recording of Michael Brown Shooting Captured During Video Chat
This is from CNN. So, consider the source. It is purported to be a recording of the actual Michael Brown shooting. The man's attorney claims they have contacted the FBI. If that is true, I doubt it is a fake. It would be timestamped and there was a person on the other end of the conversation that was being recorded. The recording casts serious doubt on Officer Wilson's story as relayed by alleged friend "Josie."
Please note that according to the friend, there was one shot fired and then Officer Wilson pursued Brown yelling halt. Then, more shots were fired when Brown turned and mocked Wilson and, then, bum rushed Wilson. The audio does not support this at all. Assuming it started with the fist shot, and I don't know that for sure, there is one shot and about a second or less later there are five more shots. then, there is a pause of 1.5 to 2 seconds followed by four quick shots. If this is an accurate recording of the actual event, Officer Brown was almost continuously blasting away for the first six shots. By everyone's account, Wilson would have been shooting at the backside of an unarmed fleeing man. Many would find that troubling even if it didn't match Officer Wilson's version. Then, the pause seems to show Officer Wilson was making a decision to stop firing or continue. He obviously continues. This could be where either Brown tried to surrender or bum rushed Wilson, depending on who you believe. There doesn't seem much time for the "taunting" Wilson's friend described. I wonder what Officer Wilson's written report says. If the audio is for real and Wilson claimed he didn't shoot at a Brown's fleeing backside, Wilson has some explaining to do.According to the account on KTFK radio, phoned in by a woman who identified herself as "Josie," (listen to the radio callWilson pursued Brown and his friend, ordering them to freeze, according to the account. When they turned around, Brown began taunting Wilson, saying he would not arrest them, then ran at the officer at full speed, the caller said. Wilson then began shooting. The final shot was to Brown's forehead, and the teenager fell two or three feet in front of Wilson, said the caller, who identified herself as the officer's friend.belowhere)the altercation began after Officer Darren Wilson rolled down his window to tell Brown and a friend to stop walking in the street. When Wilson tried to get out of his cruiser, Brown first tried to push the officer back into the car, then punched him in the face and grabbed for his gun before breaking free after the gun went off once, the caller said.
A source with detailed knowledge of the investigation later told CNN the caller's account is "accurate," in that it matches what Wilson has told investigators.
This audio doesn't seem to match up with the entry woulds from the autopsy report. Wilson would have had to hit Brown at least 2 times, out of 6 bullet wounds, with the first 6 shots. One of the arm woulds could easily have been a graze from behind. Arms are also very flexible and in motion while running or Brown could have turned his upper body to look behind him.

Officer Darren Wilson lost his last job when the whole Jennings, Mo PD was fired for racial strife...
This doesn't mean Officer Darren Wilson is a racist, but racial strife between the police and black residents is not new to him. The Ferguson police department he applied to, and was hired at, is 94% white while the community is two-thirds black. Based on his previous experience in Jennings, I would have thought he would have wanted to avoid a repeat and went to a more racially balanced police department.
FERGUSON, Mo. — The small city of Jennings, Mo., had a police department so troubled, and with so much tension between white officers and black residents, that the city council finally decided to disband it. Everyone in the Jennings police department was fired. New officers were brought in to create a credible department from scratch.
That was three years ago. One of the officers who worked in that department, and lost his job along with everyone else, was a young man named Darren Wilson.
Some of the Jennings officers reapplied for their jobs, but Wilson got a job in the police department in the nearby city of Ferguson.
