DNC Chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz Concludes Dem Midterm Crushing Means, “Voters Agree With Us”…

Delusional...

Via Mediaite:
“The voters agree with us… We know that where you could see by referendum the questions like increasing the minimum wage, like equal pay for equal work, like making sure that women’s health care was not unnecessarily restricted, Democratic policies were supported by voters and Republican policies were rejected. We have evidence, by voter turnout and election results, that voters do agree with us on that.”

Stupid: Nancy Pelosi blames democratic voters for her midterm losses...

 photo nancy-pelosi-wicked-witch-west-wizard-of-oz-im-melting-witch-melts-sad-hill-news2.jpg

If you let your party be led by a liberal witch from San Fransisco, bad things may happen...

Via The Hill:
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday provided a straightforward postmortem on the sweeping defeat her party suffered at the polls two days before: Democrats didn’t win, she said, because Democrats didn’t vote.
In a 75-minute call with the members of her caucus, the minority leader acknowledged the Democrats’ “terrible year” but argued that low voter participation — not the party’s message — was the root of the problem.
She’s vowing an all-out push to get more voters of all political persuasions to the polls in the future, and called this effort part of Congress’s “moral responsibility.”

The NY Times has a solution for Democrat's losses in mid-term elections...get rid of them.

Water boys...
DURHAM, N.C. — By Tuesday night about 90 million Americans will have cast ballots in an election that’s almost certain to create greater partisan divisions, increase gridlock and render governance of our complex nation even more difficult. Ninety million sounds like a lot, but that means that less than 40 percent of the electorate will bother to vote, even though candidates, advocacy groups and shadowy “super PACs” will have spent more than $1 billion to air more than two million ads to influence the election.
There was a time when midterm elections made sense — at our nation’s founding, the Constitution represented a new form of republican government, and it was important for at least one body of Congress to be closely accountable to the people. But especially at a time when Americans’ confidence in the ability of their government to address pressing concerns is at a record low, two-year House terms no longer make any sense. We should get rid of federal midterm elections entirely.

Obama's second midterm losses could be historically bad...

It couldn't happen to a more deserving group of individuals.

Via Roll Call:
President Barack Obama is about to do what no president has done in the past 50 years: Have two horrible, terrible, awful midterm elections in a row.
In fact, Obama is likely to have the worst midterm numbers of any two-term president going back to Democrat Harry S. Truman.
Truman lost a total of 83 House seats during his two midterms (55 seats in 1946 and 28 seats in 1950), while Republican Dwight Eisenhower lost a combined 66 House seats in the 1954 and 1958 midterms.
Obama had one midterm where his party lost 63 House seats, and Democrats are expected to lose another 5 to possibly 12 House seats (or more), taking the sitting president’s total midterm House loses to the 68 seat to 75 seat range.
Most recent presidents have one disastrous midterm and another midterm that was not terrible.
The GOP lost 30 House seats in George W. Bush’s second midterm, but gained 8 seats in his first midterm for a net loss of 22 seats. The party lost 26 seats in Ronald Reagan’s first midterm, but a mere 5 seats in his second midterm for a net loss of 31 seats.

Desperation: Demos try to use Ferguson to rally blacks in 2014 midterms...

Never let a good crisis go to waste...

Via NY Times
With their Senate majority imperiled, Democrats are trying to mobilize African-Americans outraged by the shooting in Ferguson, Mo., to help them retain control of at least one chamber of Congress for President Obama’s final two years in office.
In black churches and on black talk radio, African-American civic leaders have begun invoking the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, along with conservative calls to impeach Mr. Obama, as they urge black voters to channel their anger by voting Democratic in the midterm elections, in which minority turnout is typically lower.
“Ferguson has made it crystal clear to the African-American community and others that we’ve got to go to the polls,” said Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia and a civil-rights leader. “You participate and vote, and you can have some control over what happens to your child and your country.”
The push is an attempt to counter Republicans’ many advantages in this year’s races, including polls that show Republican voters are much more engaged in the elections at this point — an important predictor of turnout.

Poll: 9 of 10 midterm voters say health care is a major concern

November 4th could be a long night for democrats in many parts of the country...

Via Politico:
The poll reveals that voters — even in the more conservative midterm states like Georgia and Arkansas, and tossup House districts in states such as Illinois, West Virginia and California — still lean in a liberal direction on several issues Democrats have championed this year, including immigration reform, pay equity for men and women and background checks for gun purchasers. But none of those issues comes close to approaching health care as a major concern for midterm voters. Nearly nine in 10 respondents said that the health care law would be important to determining their vote, including 49 percent who said it would be very important.By comparison, only 28 percent said that immigration reform was “very important” to determining their vote, and 16 percent who said the same of male-female income disparity.

WaPo: 82% chance Harry Reid will be Senate Minority Leader in 2015

Best news today!

Via WaPo:
According to the model, which was built for The Post by political scientist and Monkey Cage blog author John Sides, Republicans have an 82 percent chance of claiming the six seats they need to move back into the majority. Explains Sides:
The main problem for Democrats is that it’s a midterm year — and the president’s party almost always loses seats in the midterm. Moreover, conditions make it difficult for Democrats to overcome this tendency: The economy is not growing that strongly and, partly as a consequence, President Obama is not that popular. Moreover, as many have noted, many seats that the Democrats must defend this year are in Republican-leaning states.
Given these conditions, the political science literature suggests that quality Republican candidates should emerge. This is because quality candidates are strategic: They tend to run when their chances of winning are higher. Thus, many Republican candidates have significant political experience in state legislatures, the U.S. House of Representatives, and in other offices. (In states where primaries haven’t taken place, we assume that the eventual party nominees will have an average experience level like that of nominees in similar races in the past.)

Democratic Heartbreak: Economy isn't revving up for midterms...

I guess Democrats will just have to run on Obamacare...

Via Politico:
So far, it’s been easy to dismiss weak economic news as the result of an awful winter. But those excuses ended with Friday’s March jobs report, the first of spring, which showed a lower-than-expected gain of 192,000 — Wall Street traders were looking for something closer to 300,000 — and an economy not losing speed but not exactly revving up for the run to the November midterm elections.
Democrats were fervently hoping for a bigger number. Because if they don’t get faster growth soon, they could wind up trying to hold off Republicans this fall while fighting the triple threat of an unpopular president, an unpopular health care law and a stagnant economy that has left voters grouchy and pessimistic.

Democrats 2014 Mid-Term Butt Whooping Has Begun...

Republican David Jolly defeated Demo Alex Sink yesterday.

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Republican David Jolly defeated Democrat Alex Sink on Tuesday in a Tampa-area House district where President Barack Obama's health care overhaul got its first test ahead of November's midterm elections and both sides spent millions auditioning national strategies.
With almost 100 percent of the vote counted, Jolly had 48.5 percent of the vote to Sink's 46.7 percent. Libertarian Lucas Overby had 4.8 percent. The election was to replace 42-year Republican Rep. CW Bill Young, who died in October of cancer, and the evenly divided district had been considered a toss-up.
The implications of the dueling messages for the midterm elections inspired both parties to call in star advocates like former President Bill Clinton and former vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, in addition to blanketing the district with ads, calls and mailings. More than $11 million has been spent on the race, according to the Sunlight Foundation, a nonprofit group that tracks government information.

CNN Poll: GOP powering ahead in 2014 midterm poll...

Obama and Obamacare is dragging demos down...
Washington (CNN) - Democrats have lost their advantage and Republicans now have a slight edge in the battle for control of Congress, according to a new national poll.
A CNN/ORC International survey released Thursday also indicates that President Barack Obama may be dragging down Democratic congressional candidates, and that the 2014 midterm elections are shaping up to be a low-turnout event, with only three in 10 registered voters extremely or very enthusiastic about voting next year.

Two months ago, Democrats held a 50%-42% advantage among registered voters in a generic ballot, which asked respondents to choose between a Democrat or Republican in their congressional district without identifying the candidates. That result came after congressional Republicans appeared to overplay their hand in the bitter fight over the federal government shutdown and the debt ceiling.
But the Democratic lead evaporated, and a CNN poll a month ago indicated the GOP holding a 49%-47% lead. The new survey, conducted in mid-December, indicates Republicans with a 49%-44% edge over the Democrats. Keep on reading...

Tingles: Let's cancel the midterm elections or something...

Fat chance...

Via Mediaite:
MSNBC host Chris Matthews had tough words for Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY) who pointedly questioned Sec. Hillary Clinton today regarding her role in the September 11, 2012, attack on an American consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Matthews called Johnson a “pissant” due to his harsh line of questioning and said that Johnson is only in the Senate due to a low turnout election in 2010. “He doesn’t represent anybody,” Matthews scoffed. He suggested that he thinks off-year and midterm elections should be abolished, forcing all lawmakers to run on a national ticket. [...]

Delusional: Obama Tells Midterms Volunteers, “You Guys Turned ‘Yes We Can’ Into ‘Yes We Did’”

Nancy Pelosi is smart enough to know Democrats took a shellacking November 2nd. Of course, she has no regrets. On the other hand, President Obama is either delusional or disingenuous. He told midterm volunteers "You turned ‘Yes We Can’ into ‘Yes We Did.’” Yes we did what? Democrats lost 64 seats in the House. This is the largest party affiliation swing since 1948. Republicans also gained 6 Senate seats and 6 Governorships. Gains in other state and local races followed these results. The Midterms were a complete disaster for Democrats.

(ABC News)- Members of Organizing for America – the president’s former campaign committee – received a text message today asking them to call 888-206-1431 “to hear a special message from President Obama.”

In the recorded message, the president says, “Thank you for the tireless work, you guys organized the single largest midterm election effort in this history of our party…You turned ‘Yes We Can’ into ‘Yes We Did.’”

Rahm Emanuel to go under the bus after midterms?

Democrats are about to get slaughtered in the midterm elections. Someone will need to be the goat. The Telegraph is reporting, Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, is reporting for sacrificial duty. He will reportedly throw himself under the bus in a few months.

The Telegraph reported:
Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, is expected to leave his job later this year after growing tired of the “idealism” of Barack Obama’s inner circle.

Washington insiders say he will quit within six to eight months in frustration...

“I would bet he will go after the midterms,” said a leading Democratic consultant...
