Comedy Gold: Olbermann being left out of Current TV election coverage

It couldn't happen to a more deserving douchebag.

Via Business Insider
Keith Olbermann, who began his much-publicized tenure at Al Gore’s Current TV this summer is apparently already on the outs with management there.
So much so, he is reportedly being left out of upcoming election coverage specials.
Brian Stelter at the New York Times writes that Olbermann will be notably absent from Current’s upcoming two hours specials on the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary.
Instead they will be hosted by Cenk Uygur and former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm with appearances by Al Gore, who the NYT notes, usually stays behind the scenes at Current.

Meltdown: Keith Olbermann has lost nearly a third of his viewers in four months

Al Gore needs to ask for a refund on the reported $10 million a year Olbermann receives as salary.
(Bnet) — Keith Olbermann is not in the witness protection program, but he might as well be. His show on Al Gore’s Current TV (America’s least watched network) has lost nearly a third of its viewers in four months.
Pretty impressive result for $10 million a year. That’s just his salary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann was a major draw when it was on MSNBC. On January 21, the network took a big hit when Olbermann announced on air that that would be his last show for them. Then in June, Current launched Olbermann and Countdown.
It was no surprise that Olbermann drew a big audience for its early shows — averaging 106,000 viewers a night. Unfortunately, by August it was down to 79,000. Last month’s numbers were even worse. Olbermann’s average was down to 46,000 viewers and was in no danger of coming close to breaking into the top 30 cable TV news shows. None of the top 30 is all that impressive in terms of audience. For the third quarter of this year No.1 Bill O’Reillyhad 2.8 million total viewers, while No. 30 — the 12 AM showing of Dr. Drew on HLN — had 435,000.

Liberal Heartache: Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown” Ratings Are Tanking

Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown” ratings are down 50% from debut. Only 46,000 adults in the prime target age demographic tuned in to an average Olbermann show.
(NYDN) — Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown” has experienced quite a comedown since leaving MSNBC.
After debuting to promising ratings on the Current cable network in late June, Olbermann’s political commentary show posted its lowest numbers yet the week of Sept 5–11.

Nielsen figures provided by industry sources also show that, based on weekly averages of the program’s performance on Current, “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” has never done better than its debut week on Al Gore’s hard-to-find cable network. (It did come close on Aug. 30, racking up 310,000 total viewers; 102,000 of them adults 25–54.)

For the week of Sept. 5–11, “Countdown” attracted an average 142,000 total viewers and an average 46,000 adults aged 25–54 — the demographic category that advertisers consult when buying time on cable network news programs.

Those figures are less than half of the ratings “Countdown” posted in its debut week on Current. The show averaged 319,000 total viewers that first week; 114,000 in the key 25–54 demographic.

Keith Olbermann going to Current TV?

Pitchforks and Torches: The Worst of the Worst, from Beck, Bill, and Bush to Palin and Other Posturing Republicans

Current TV? Does anyone actually watch that channel? That is the channel Al Gore helped found. Keith Olbermann
(NY Times) — Keith Olbermann, the former top-rated host of “Countdown” on the news channel MSNBC, will announce his next television home on Tuesday, and people familiar with his plans pointed Monday to a possible deal with the public affairs channel Current TV.

Neither Mr. Olbermann, his representatives, or executives from Current TV would comment on the move, but they did not deny that the channel, which counts former Vice President Al Gore as one of its founders, will become at least one partner in Mr. Olbermann’s future media plans.

Senator Olbermann?

Pitchforks and Torches: The Worst of the Worst, from Beck, Bill, and Bush to Palin and Other Posturing Republicans

If some liberals get their way, that will be Keith Olbermann's next job. If you think this is ridiculous, remember Senator Franken...

The Hill reported:
Liberals want Keith Olbermann to run for retiring Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-Conn.) seat.

The ploy to coax the former MSNBC host into the Democratic Senate primary was hatched by activists attending a conference in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Facebook and Twitter pages are already active and a website is expected to go up in the coming days.

Bill Maher on Olbermann Firing: "F*ck them if they don’t get a joke.”

Bill Maher: But I'm Not Wrong

Bill Maher sure uses a lot of sentence enhancers. They are very useful for people who have nothing intelligent to say.

Via Mediaite:
Maher, of course, was more animated, calling the idea that Olbermann leaving MSNBC was mutual “bullsh*t,” and saying the writing was on the wall when he toned down segments like “World’s Worst.” Maher’s reaction to that:
“Stop organizing life around the people who don’t get the joke. F*ck them if they don’t get a joke.”
Keith Olbermann will undoubtedly find another job. I hear Helen Thomas might be looking for a full-time Masseuse.

Keith Olbermann lost 11% of his audience in 2010

Keith Olbermann Talking Bobblehead
I am shocked anybody still watches him.
(Politicususa)- The bad news keeps coming for MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann. The 2010 ratings data is starting to trickle in, and the news is not so great for the Countdown host. In a down year for cable news where all three networks registered a decline in viewers, Keith Olbermann lost 11% of his total audience, but what is most troubling is that among the coveted age 25-54 demographic Olbermann lost 25% of his audience.

Wikileak's Julian Assange does irreparable damage to US, Keith Olbermann names Bristol Palin worst person in world

Julian Assange does irreparable damage to our nations image and security by dumping hundreds of thousands of classified documents and Keith Olberman thinks Bristol Palin is the worst person in the world? Olbermann will probably nominate Assange for a Nobel prize.

MSNBC Caves in and Brings Back Keith Olbermann

Liberals were in an uproar over MSNBC's suspension of Keith Olbermann. The word "boycott" was being tossed about. MSNBC quickly caved in and is bringing back Keith Olbermann after a suspension of only two days. That will really teach him a lesson.

NEW YORK – MSNBC says Keith Olbermann will be back on the air Tuesday, ending his suspension for violating NBC's rules against making political donations after two shows.

MSNBC's chief executive Phil Griffin said late Sunday that after several days of deliberation, he had determined that two days off the air was "an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy."

Liberal Heartache: MSNBC suspends Olbermann

Keith Olbermann has been indefinitely suspended by MSNBC for making campaign donations to Democrats in violation of network policy. I am shocked. The shock isn't from finding out Olbermann would donate money to Democrats. The shock is from leaning MSNBC has a policy against it.

NEW YORK – MSNBC has suspended prime-time host Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay for contributing to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this election season.

Olbermann acknowledged to NBC that he donated $2,400 apiece to the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grivalva and Gabrielle Giffords.

Keith Olbermann Equates Tea Party With Klan

Keith Olbermann tweeted this at a conservative tweeter Sunday.

The attempt to brand the Tea Party as racist continues. Perhaps Olbermann only thinks associating someone with the Klan is a bad thing if they are Republicans or oppose Obama's policies. . He spoke buoyantly about former Sen. Robert Byrd's early life Klan membership. In this video of his comments shortly after Byrd's death, he seemed mainly concerned about how losing a Senator would affect the Democrats plans to pass their financial reform bill.

I really enjoyed this video. This brilliant video put the pompous Keith Olbermann in his place for accusing the Tea Party movement of lacking diversity.

Olbermann: Scott Brown is a homophobic racist teabagger

I know the bar is very high, but this is may be the most shameful Keith Olbermann rant ever. He repeats almost every smear ever directed at Scott Brown and calls Brown every insult he can imagine.
“In short in Scott Brown we have an irresponsible homophobic racist reactionary ex-nude-model tea-bagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees. In any other time in our history this man would have been laughed off the stage as an unqualified and disaster in the making by the most conservative of conservatives. Instead the commonwealth of Massachusetts is close to sending this bad joke to the Senate of the United States.”

Could he have crammed anymore insults into one sentence? Also, if you are a supporter, Olbermann appears to think you must be racist too.

Polling indicates voters are ignoring Olbermann and will elect what he refers to as a "bad joke."
