Shameful: Democratic Senator uses Okla. tornado for anti-GOP global warming rant...

Actually, tornado activity has recently been at a 60-year low...

Via The Daily Caller:
While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming.

Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters.

Who is up for Senator Barney Frank?

Not me. There is enough lack of comity in the Senate already....

BOSTON — Gov. Deval L. Patrick said that retired U.S. Rep. Barney Frank is a gifted legislator and would make a great interim senator.
“He is definitely on the list,” Patrick told reporters Friday. “I think he would be a great interim senator.”
Patrick’s comments came at a Statehouse press conference after Frank, a Newton Democrat, told MSNBC that he wants the governor to appoint him as an interim replacement for U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry. President Barack Obama has nominated Kerry to be secretary of state.
Responding to a reporter’s question, Patrick said it would be logical to appoint Frank, partly because he knows the issues in Washington and could hit the ground running.

Senator Olbermann?

Pitchforks and Torches: The Worst of the Worst, from Beck, Bill, and Bush to Palin and Other Posturing Republicans

If some liberals get their way, that will be Keith Olbermann's next job. If you think this is ridiculous, remember Senator Franken...

The Hill reported:
Liberals want Keith Olbermann to run for retiring Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-Conn.) seat.

The ploy to coax the former MSNBC host into the Democratic Senate primary was hatched by activists attending a conference in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Facebook and Twitter pages are already active and a website is expected to go up in the coming days.

Graham Vows to Give Up Immigration Reform if Obamacare Passes

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) has been working with Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer on a bipartisan immigration reform plan. Graham say it's over if Democrats ram their partisan health care bill through this weekend.
One of the leading proponents of immigration reform vowed Friday to give up work toward immigration reform if healthcare legislation is passed this weekend.

In an email and on Twitter today, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said if the healthcare bill goes through this weekend, "that will, in my view, pretty much kill any chance of immigration reform passing the Senate this year."

Graham has been working with New York Democrat Charles Schumer on the framework for an immigration measure. Although immigration is likely a longshot either way, proponents of reform are trying to push the issue back toward hot-button status this year.

The death of immigration reform will be a small consolation prize if Democrats nationalize Americans health care. If this isn't a 'wake up' call for Hispanic representatives, they have their heads up their butts.

Is KY GOP Senatorial Candidate Trey Grayson a Closet RINO?

Is KY GOP Senatorial candidate and current KY Secretary of State Trey Grayson a closet RINO? He claims to be a conservative and has the endorsement of senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Grayson is currently running hard hitting ads against his main opponent ophthalmologist Rand Paul. Paul is considered the Tea Party candidate and is leading Grayson significantly in recent polling.

Grayson is trying to portray Rand Paul as having strange foreign policy views. This seems a questionable strategy considering Grayson's own past views. Trey Grayson is a former Democrat and was a supporter of Bill Clinton in 1992.

Grayson also has strong ties to the radical "climate change" advocacy movement. In January of 2009, Grayson gave the keynote speech at a "Focus the Nation" climate change event. Greyson's website claims he is against the Democrats Cap and Trade bill, but the main reason seem to be he wants clean coal included.
I oppose the cap and trade plan that passed by the U.S. House of Representatives by a narrow margin and that is currently under consideration in the U.S. Senate.

It is a tax on energy, and it would affect every Kentuckian each time we start our cars or turn on a light switch. This law, if passed, would cause dramatic job losses in Kentucky, both due to the use of less coal and through higher energy costs that will kill manufacturing jobs.

Coal must be a part of a comprehensive national energy solution. We need an all-of-the-above national energy plan that will increase use of our domestic energy resources, including coal, while encouraging and incentivizing investment in alternative sources of energy and new technologies to help us use our domestic resources in an environmentally friendly manner: clean coal technology, carbon sequestration, nuclear power, bio-fuels, solar and wind energy, drilling off-shore, use of oil shale, etc.

At the very least, Grayson is a global warming true believer. At the worst, he wants a Cap and Trade bill; just not the current Democratic one.

Grayson claims to be a fiscal conservative, but once made this outrageous statement.
"Remember, it’s the government’s money. It’s not your money!”

In another interesting video, Trey Grayson seemed a little too happy when he congratulated President Obama on his inauguration. He actually said he wished he could have been there.

The time has come for the GOP establishment to consider dumping Trey Grayson and throw their full support behind Rand Paul.

Democrats Diss McCain's Call to Reform Bipartisan ‘Gang of 14’ to Stop 'Nuclear Option'

In 2005, Senator McCain helped form the bipartisan 'Gang of 14' to stop Republicans from using the 'nuclear option' to force President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees through with a simple majority vote. Now, McCain is trying to reform the bipartisan 'Gang of 14' and stop President Obama and Harry Reid from using the 'nuclear option' to pass Obamacare. So far, no Democrat is interested.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is seeking bipartisan support to block Senate Democrats from using special parliamentary tactics to pass healthcare reform....

And McCain reminded Democrats that he was a member of the bipartisan Gang of 14, which stopped Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) from using the so-called nuclear option in 2005.
It's time for a similar gang, he said. So far, he’s had no takers.

Rockefeller on Obama: ‘He’s Beginning to Not Be Believable to Me’

Senator Rockefeller made the following comment about President Obama's lack of support for clean coal.
"He’s Beginning to Not Be Believable to Me"

Senator Rockefeller, welcome to the club. Most observant Americans gave up believing President Obama a long time ago.

Dem Sen. Mary Landrieu Defends “the Louisiana Purchase” and Tells Naysayers to “keep their mouth shut”

Yeah, this will win a lot of votes. Sen. Landrieu keeps repeating that she didn't "throw the people of her state under a bus." Keep repeating that Senator. Maybe, someday, you will really believe it.

Scott Brown is Now the 41st Republican Senator

The magical number 41 GOP Senator was sworn in today. Welcome to Washington, Senator Brown.

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) was sworn in Thursday evening on the Senate floor, officially taking the seat held for 46 years by the late Ted Kennedy.

Brown, who won a Jan. 19 special election and broke the Democrats filibuster-proof 60 seats, was given the oath of office by Vice President Joe Biden.

Blanche Lincoln is Suddenly Feeling Very Independent and Centrist (video)

After a recent survey showing Blanche Lincoln losing her Arkansas Senate race to a Republican by 23 points, Senator Lincoln is attempting to race back to the middle. During the Senate democrat's question and answer with President Obama yesterday, Lincoln said of a constituent,
"fears that there's no one in your administration that understands what it means to go to work on Monday and make a payroll on Friday."

Lincoln also asked Obama to:
push back against "people at the extremes" of both parties, especially against Democrats "who want extremes."

The comments are in the first two and a half minutes of this video appears to have been released by Blanche Lincolns campaign. You don't have to watch the entire ten minutes. It is very interesting that her campaign thinks a video of her challenging President Obama is a good thing.

Lincoln Urges President Obama To Seek Common Ground

Senator Lincoln had a chance to challenge President Obama and democratic extremist's when Obamacare was being voted on. Instead, She followed Obama and Reid by voting with the extremists.

New PPP Survey: Blanche Lincoln Losing 56-33 to Likely Republican Opponent

Senator Blanche Lincoln has seen her popularity with voters go into a death spiral.

from Public Policy Polling:
John Boozman will enter the Arkansas Senate race this weekend as the frontrunner. He leads incumbent Blanche Lincoln by an amazing 56-33 margin in our first poll of the race.

What has caused this drastic decline in Senator Lincoln's support? The democrat's health care reform is responsible.
... 61% of voters in the state oppose the President's plan, and among those folks Lincoln's approval rating is just 8% with 79% of them expressing the belief that she's too liberal...

Blue Dog Battle: Blanche Lincoln Rips Ben Nelson for ObamaCare kickback

Senator Blanche Lincoln is probably just angry she was too stupid to demand a kickback. Now, she is ripping Ben Nelson for the 'cornhusker kickback.' If it was so wrong, why did she vote for it? .

Another Democrat Abandons a Sinking Ship

Add North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan to the growing list of democrats not seeking reelection in 2010. Most of the democrats abandoning ship are form so called 'blue dog' districts.

AP
reported:
Dorgan, who was first elected to the Senate in 1992 after serving a dozen years in the U.S. House, said he reached the decision after discussing his future with family over the holidays.

Terrified Ben Nelson Tells State AG's "Cornhusker Kickback" Will Be Extended to Everyone

Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson actually used the term “call off the dogs.” I guess Nelson has seen this poll.

Politico reported:
Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) reached out Thursday evening to South Carolina GOP Attorney General Henry McMaster, the leader of a group of 13 Republican state attorneys general who are threatening to file suit against the Senate health care bill, and urged him to forgo any legal action, POLITICO has learned.

According to a copy of a memo sent by McMaster’s chief of staff to other GOP state attorneys general detailing the call, Nelson asked McMaster to “call off the dogs,” a reference to recent threats by the state AGs to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a Medicaid provision in the bill that benefits Nebraska at the expense of other states. . . .

Extending the "Cornhusker Kickback" to every state would be prohibitively expensive and likely eliminate the 'thin veil' of deficit reduction. Harry Reid has been silent on Nelsons memo.

Oh my! Rasmussen Poll Has Ben Nelson Down 30 Points to Heineman After Health-Care Reversal

A new Rasmussen poll has Senator Ben Nelson down 30 points in a theoretical race against current Republican Governor Heineman. Nelson's health care vote seems to be the reason. Sixty-four percent (64%) of Nebraska voters oppose the health care legislation Ben Nelson voted for, including fifty-three percent (53%) who are strongly opposed. Only 17% of Nebraska voters approve of the deal Senator Ben Nelson made to sell his vote for a special Medicaid deal. An April 2006 poll by Survey USA found him to be the Senator with the highest popularity rating, 73%, among his own constituents. Senator Nelson has committed political suicide for Harry Reid and President Barack Obama.

Rasmussen reported:

If Governor Dave Heineman challenges Nelson for the Senate job, a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows that Heineman would get 61% of the vote while Nelson would get just 30%.

Sen. Sessions: The nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare actually will add $300 billion to the deficit (video)

Sen. Jeff Sessions accuses democrats of "Bernie Madoff accounting" and said the Senate health care bill will "add $300 billion to the deficit."

Fox News reported:
Republicans, emboldened by a new letter from the Congressional Budget Office, accused Democrats on Wednesday of "Bernie Madoff accounting" for double counting the savings from Medicare as a means to pay for the Senate health care bill.

As the Senate prepares for a crucial vote before final passage of a massive overhaul bill that Democrats argue will reduce the deficit by $132 billion over 10 years, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala, said the nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare actually will add $300 billion to the deficit.

Nebraska Governor Tells Senator Ben Nelson to Give Back His Bribe and Vote No on Cloture (video)

Democrat weasel Senator Ben Nelson tried to claim he asked for the 'special' $100 million Medicare bribe because Nebraska's Governor wanted it. That was flatly denied by Nebraska's Republican Governor Dave Heineman.
"Nebraskans did not ask for a special deal, only a fair deal," Heineman said in a statement Sunday.

Senator Ben Nelson's spokesman then fired back that he would give it back if Governor Heineman asked him too.
"If Gov. Heineman contacts Sen. Nelson asking to have that provision removed from the bill, the senator will do so," Thompson said.

Nebraska's Republican Governor is calling Senator Nelson's bluff. In an interview, yesterday, with Greta Van Susteren, Gov. Heineman called on Senator Nelson to give the money back and vote no on cloture.
