Rep. Charles Rangel to Obama, "...saying you’re sorry doesn’t help me worth a damn at the polls..."

If Obama loses Rep. Charles Rangel, it's over...

Via NYDN:
President Obama took his medicine Thursday for the botched rollout of Obamacare.
During an extraordinary hour-long news conference, Obama repeatedly said he deserves the blame of angry Americans for a debacle that has cast a shadow over his presidency and left Democrats anxious about the 2014 elections.
And to make amends, he reversed a cornerstone of Obamacare, at least for one year, saying people should be able to keep insurance policies that were supposed to be canceled. [...]
Still, some Democrats called for making legislative changes in addition to those Obama announced. Democrats said that colleagues vulnerable in next year’s election remained concerned about a backlash from voters.
“If I had the problem, saying you’re sorry doesn’t help me worth a damn at the polls, unless I can staple your remarks to the ballot,” Rep. Charles Rangel (D-Manhattan) said.

Rep. Charles Rangel worried the criminals at the IRS will get a bad name or something...

I doubt Americans opinion of the the IRS could go any lower...

Via The Hill:
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said that he feared the Internal Revenue Service scandal over political targeting of Tea Party groups would unfairly stigmatize other workers at the agency.

“The biggest problem is that tens of thousands of IRS workers that work hard with all of this stigma being tax collectors, are getting a bad shake out of this,” said Rangel during a panel discussion on ABC’s “This Week.”

The IRS acknowledgement that agents used higher scrutiny against conservative groups seeking tax exempt status has already claimed the job of acting director Steven Miller and has the White House and Congress both vowing thorough investigations.
Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) was found guilty and censured for 11 ethics violations, including neglecting to pay taxes on his Dominican Republic vacation villa in 2010. Perhaps he appreciates the IRS not putting him in jail.

WH spokesman when asked if Obama supports Rep. Charlie Rangel's re-election: “I’ll have to get back to you on that,”

They will get back with us after the election...

Via Beltway Confidential:
President Obama’s spokesman wouldn’t say if the president plans to support Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., despite Obama’s praise for the Harlem lawmaker at a recent fundraiser.
“I’ll have to get back to you on that,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters today when asked if Obama would support Rangel.
Rangel, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, was censured in a borad bipartisan vote by the House of Representatives in 2010 for ethical violations. [...]
Rangel is distributing campaign fliers featuring a picture of himself with the president, but doesn’t know if Obama will actually support him. “That’s a good question,” he said last week.

Demo Rep. Charles Rangel calls for redistribution of America's wealth

President Obama seen smiling in approval...
(The Hill) — Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday called for the redistribution of America’s riches and hammered the wealthy for benefitting from a war effort fought by the poor and middle class.

Citing statistics that show 1 percent of Americans now own 42 percent of the nation’s wealth, the lawmaker representing Harlem said: “There is something wrong with that formula.”

Rangel offered no specific remedy for adjusting those figures during his comments on the House floor but argued further that the wealthiest 1 percent have the added benefit of not needing to get involved in military service.
“Why is it that we know, or that we can suspect, that in this war where we lost so many lives, that so many people have been wounded, that our brave men and women coming home will subject themselves with a lack of funds to deal with their physical or mental problems?” he asked. “Any yet we somehow know that that 1 percent was not involved in defending our great nation.”

Democrats Give Charlie Rangel a Standing Ovation After Censure

Democrat Charles Rangel is the first House member to be censured in 27 years. He cheated the IRS for 17 years by failing to pay taxes on income from his rental unit in a Dominican Republic resort. He left hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets he owned off financial discloser documents. He set up a campaign office in a rent controlled residential only building. There is more. Yet Democrats still gave him a standing ovation.

Video: Nancy Pelosi drains some of the swamp

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces the vote to censure demo Rep. Charlie Rangel. Pelosi doesn't seem to have her earlier enthusiasm for draining the swamp. She actually looks like someone made her eat a turd. Rangel speaks after the announcement and actually claims the whole process proves he is an honest man or something.

Heartache: Charlie Rangel's Birthday Bash is Looking Like a Bust

Democrats are quickly abandoning the sinking ship USS Rangel.

The NYT reported:
High-profile guests have either bailed out or are publicly agonizing about whether to show up at all. In a striking illustration of the discomfort coursing through political circles over Mr. Rangel’s soiree, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said he did not know if the party was still on when asked recently if he would attend.

Bad News for Democrats, There May be Back-to-Back Ethics Trials of House Democrats

The ethical charges against Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) are well know. There have been conflicting reports about whether Rangel has been able to make a deal that would prevent an embarrassing trial. Democrats, including President Obama, seem ready to throw Rangel under the bus. Additionally, the House Ethics Committee is very close to charging Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) with ethical lapses for the $12 million in TARP money she allegedly help funnel to a bank partially owned by her husband. Waters is reportedly going to force a public trial.

The Hill reported:
Multiple news outlets reported Friday night that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has chosen to face a trial on ethics charges.
