Amusing: SEIU staff threatening to strike...

Union management is demanding concessions on their pensions and health care. Does this sound familiar?

There’s nothing more embarrassing for union bosses than their own unionized staff striking against them or, in this case, threatening to strike.

In San Francisco, SEIU staff, represented by the left-wing Communications Workers of America, has been without a contract since their contract expired last September.

SEIU boss Roxanne Sanchez, according to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, is trying to get her union staff to give concessions on their pensions and health care.

Last week, after months without a contract, 94% of the SEIU’s own union staff voted to strike.

After several cancelled negotiating sessions between the two sides (which haven’t met since our story was published), CWA last week called for a strike authorization vote that was approved by 94 percent of voting members. CWA Area Director Libby Sayre and Nick Peraino, a CWA shop steward at Local 1021, say the vote repudiates Sanchez’s characterization that it is a small but vocal group that is unhappy with management.

“We’re very much united in our position and our willingness to do what it takes to get a decent contract,” Peraino told us. Sayre told the Guardian, “There is widespread sentiment they’re being low-balled by management.”

Amusing: SEIU Busted For “Unfair Labor Practice” Against Employee

The purple army has been busted for violating an employee's labor rights...

The NLRB’s three-Democrat panel of board members declared SEIU Healthcare Michigan violated the labor rights of a member of its union staff on Friday.

The intra-union fighting stemmed from SEIU’s refusal to hand over discharge grievance files to former employee Sara Vitale, a violation of the National Labor Relations Act.

The NLRB’s Detroit office ordered the union to turn over the requested files in August. SEIU officials ignored the request, leading to an appeal to the NLRB.

“Since about Dec. 21, 2011, and continuing to date, the [union] has failed and refused to provide [Vitale] with a copy of the requested file,” the NLRB ruled. “[SEIU] has breached its duty of fair representation owed to … the employees in the unit.”

The board ordered SEIU to “cease and desist” from its “unfair labor practice” and to post notices of the violation around its office.

Chicago Mayor and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is under attack by some of President Obama’s top political supporters.

The SEIU has committed half-a-million dollars to a new, anti-Rahm effort. The money was approved by a state council as part of a document titled “Taking on the millionaires’ mayor.” The document says SEIU will brand the Mayor as “the national poster child for Neo-Liberals who are hell-bent on adopting regressive policies.”

The SEIU also alleges the Mayor is adopting the tactics of “Right Wing” employers:
Mayor Emanuel is using the city’s procurement process to take advantage of a loophole in Obamacare to jettison the health care costs of many city contract work [sic].

Essentially, Rahm is doing the same thing to city contract workers that Applebee’s, Denny’s, Papa John’s Pizza and so many other Right Wing national employers have announced they are doing to their workers in the lead up to the implementation of Obamacare.

The Service Employees International Union has emerged as the top outside spender on Democratic campaigns this year, surpassing even President Barack Obama’s main super PAC.

SEIU, like other large entities that spend money on elections, doesn’t have to disclose all of its expenditures to the Federal Election Commission. But according to disclosures it has made so far this year, the union has funded almost $70 million of campaign donations, television ads and get-out-the-vote efforts for Mr. Obama and other Democrats.

That’s more than the nearly $54 million spent by Priorities USA, the main Democratic super PAC working to re-elect Mr. Obama.

So far this election, SEIU campaign hands have knocked on more than 2.5 million doors in eight presidential battleground states, including 400,000 in Ohio. In a development made possible by recent changes in election law, the union has spent millions of dollars trying to persuade non-union workers to vote for Democrats.

In a case that could have wide-ranging implications for the political future of the Service Employees International Union, a former SEIU organizer told a right-to-work group and a best-selling author recently that the union forced him and other workers to volunteer their time for Democratic political campaigns.

On a video segment provided exclusively to The Daily Caller, the organizer says he and other SEIU staff “had to do some political work. We were required as staff to do that.”

But his big goal was to get workers to shut down their workplaces. That’s where the SEIU agenda and the Occupy agenda truly meet: once workers begin to occupy.

(CNSNews.com) — The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), whose political action committee made more than $27 million in independent expenditures to help elect Barack Obama president in 2008, is now organizing a Occupy movement encampment scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. next week.

“It’s time for the 99%-ers to be a visible, peaceful presence in Washington, DC,” says a notice for the event posted on the website of SEIU Local 1991.

“By day we’ll show up at Congressional hearings and K Street lobbyists’ offices, and by night we’ll crash in church auditoriums, union halls, and in tents around the Capitol,” says the notice. “Our goal is to remind Congress their job is to represent all Americans — not just the richest 1%.”

The SEIU is trying to get voters to sign a petition to force recall elections for GOP State Senators. Can't they just leave the dead alone?

(The Hill) — In the latest salvo surrounding Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) controversial budget plan, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Wednesday endorsed recall efforts against several GOP state senators....

The AFL-CIO circulated the announcement to Washington reporters. The SEIU is also helping gather signatures; their appeal says that 15,000 are needed in each district to force a recall.

Hypocrisy: SEIU Fights Obamacare Repeal After Getting Exemption Waivers

Yesterday, Senate Democrats voted down a repeal of Obamacare. They were strongly supported by lobbying from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). The SEIU is one of many unions to request and receive an exemption from some aspects of Obamacare.

(The Hill)- The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is lobbying hard against the amendment offered by Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) to repeal the healthcare reform law.

SEIU has sent e-mails to Senate offices urging lawmakers to vote against the proposal to unwind President Obama’s signature domestic initiative.

“A vote in support of this amendment is a vote to raise out-of-pocket healthcare costs for working families and takes away critical consumer protections provided to Americans for the first time,” SEIU urged senators, according to a copy of the e-mail obtained by The Hill.
The lobby informed senators that a vote for McConnell’s amendment would count against them on its legislative scorecard.

SEIU’s outspoken defense of the law has prompted charges of hypocrisy from Republicans, given that some of the union’s chapters have sought waivers exempting them from a key provision of the law requiring the phaseout of health plans with low caps on annual benefits.

The selection is certain to draw criticism from conservatives because of Gaspard’s past association with activist organization ACORN.

Gaspard donated thousands of dollars to ACORN, The American Spectator has reported, and worked for New York’s Working Families Party and labor union SEIU.

SEIU health-insurance fund in New York drops children because new laws make them too expensive

Those opposed to Obamacare have received a little justice. The SEIU spent millions helping President Obama pass the democrat's health care reform bill. Now, the law they forced down Americans throats is biting back. Due to changes in state rules and the new Obamacare requirement to keep children on health insurance until they are 26, the large SEIU affiliated health-insurance fund in New York is dropping coverage for members' children.

(WSJ)- One of the largest union-administered health-insurance funds in New York is dropping coverage for the children of more than 30,000 low-wage home attendants, union officials said. The union blamed financial problems it said were caused by the state’s health department and new national health-insurance requirements...

“In addition, new federal health-care reform legislation requires plans with dependent coverage to expand that coverage up to age 26,” Behroozi wrote in a letter to members Oct. 22. “Our limited resources are already stretched as far as possible, and meeting this new requirement would be financially impossible.”

Voting Machines Serviced by SEIU Automatically Check Harry Reid's Name in Nevada?

These reports of Harry Reid's name already being checked on electronic voting machines touch screen has been dismissed by election officials in Nevada as operator error. If that is true, how come they haven't been equal complaints of Sharron Angle's name already being checked? Did you know the SEIU represents voting machine techs in Nevada's Clark County where this possible fraud was reported?

It is positively outrageous that in Clark County, Nevada, the SEIU Local 1107, which supports Harry Reid, controls the ballot boxes by contract through their representation of the voting machine technicians. It is not surprising that Senator Harry Reid’s name was automatically checked off on the ballot when individuals went to vote.

Some voters in Boulder City complained on Monday that their ballot had been cast before they went to the polls, raising questions about Clark County’s electronic voting machines.

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid’s name was already checked.

Ferrara said she wasn’t alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen…
