Shameful: Britain doubles fuel prices to prevent global warming; 250,000 Brits die from cold...

High energy prices have forced many to choose between heat and food...

Via The Telegraph:
The reaction to the 2003 heatwave was extraordinary. It was blamed for 2,000 deaths, and taken as a warning that Britain was horribly unprepared for the coming era of snowless winters and barbecue summers. The government’s chief scientific officer, Sir David King, later declared that climate change was “more serious even than the threat of terrorism” in terms of the number of lives that could be lost. Such language is never used about the cold, which kills at least 10 times as many people every winter. Before long, every political party had signed up to the green agenda.
Since Sir David’s exhortations, some 250,000 Brits have died from the cold, and 10,000 from the heat. It is horribly clear that we have been focusing on the wrong enemy. Instead of making sure energy was affordable, ministers have been trying to make it more expensive, with carbon price floors and emissions trading schemes. Fuel prices have doubled over seven years, forcing millions to choose between heat and food – and government has found itself a major part of the problem. More here...
An inconvenient truth:
By now, the Energy Secretary will also have realised another inconvenient truth – that, for Britain, global warming is likely to save far more lives then it threatens.

Good News: China buys Obama's favorite bankrupt green battery company...

China is buying A123 Battery Systems...

Via WSJ:
Chinese-owned auto-parts manufacturer Wanxiang America Corp. won the bidding for A123 Systems Inc., AONEQ -9.21% the government-backed battery maker that has yet to turn a profit, at a bankruptcy auction that ended early Saturday morning.

Wanxiang's winning bid of $256.6 million topped a combined offer from Milwaukee-based auto-parts manufacturer Johnson Controls Inc. JCI +2.03% and electronics maker NEC Corp. 6701.TO -0.65% of Japan, the company said. German conglomerate Siemens AG SIE.XE +0.19% also submitted a qualified bid at the auction, which kicked off Thursday at the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins, the law firm representing A123 in its Chapter 11 case.

Wanxiang, a unit of China's Wanxiang Group, is buying most of A123—which in addition to its automotive-battery business has a consumer arm and grid-energy storage division—except for its government business, which was bought for $2.25 million by Navitas Systems, a Chicago area company spun off from Sun MicroSystems. 'Drill, Baby, Drill' President Poses in Front of an Oil Well

Does President Obama really think voters are stupid enough to think he supports more drilling?

Via NY Post:
“We are drilling all over the place right now,” insisted Obama, as he stood in front of a stack of massive pipes for a new pipeline that will run from storehouses in Cushing, Okla., to refineries in Texas.

That will be the southern leg of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to Texas, which Obama blocked just weeks ago, citing environmental concerns.

The oil company TransCanada decided to build the southern leg anyway because it doesn’t cross an international border and, therefore, doesn’t need Obama’s approval.

The president, on a two-day trip to promote his energy policies, still tried to grab credit.
He announced that he would “cut through red tape, break through bureaucratic hurdles and make this project a priority.”

Obama’s action won’t shorten the timeline for the project, which already was scheduled to start as soon as June, according to TransCanada.

A solid majority of Americans — 57 percent — said they believe the government should approve construction of the entire Keystone pipeline, according to a Gallup Poll released yesterday. Read more here...

Stimulus Green Jobs Fail

Back in September of 2009 the Obama administration announced it's first green jobs stimulus loan to the solar energy company Solyndra, Inc. It was supposed to create thousands of jobs across America.
The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has announced its $535 million loan guarantee for Solyndra, Inc., providing a much needed jolt for the lagging solar power industry. The loan will support the solar energy firm’s production of an industrial-scale manufacturing factory for its ground-breaking circular solar photovoltaic panels. Solyndra, based in Fremont, CA, has designed revolutionary technology in solar photovoltaics with systems designed to provide the lowest installation costs and the highest solar electricity< output. It is expected that the company’s new budget will create thousands of new green jobs all over the United States and will give our economy the stabilization it needs with this clean alternative energy.

One year later, Solyndra, Inc. is closing a plant and cutting jobs.
Solyndra said it will also close an existing factory in the East Bay. That will leave the company with one Fremont factory, a new plant visible from Interstate 880.

The moves mean that instead of having 2,000 workers in Fremont, Solyndra will cap its work force at 1,000, which is about the current level. Solyndra also will, over the next several weeks, eliminate 155 to 175 jobs in Fremont. That includes 135 contract employees and 20 to 40 full-time workers, said David Miller, a Solyndra spokesman.

Ignorant Al Gore Must Believe We Live On The Sun (video)

In response to a geothermal energy question by Conan O’Brien, Al Gore claimed the temperature of the Earth's core is millions of degrees. The actual temperature of the Earth's core is at most around 9,000° Fahrenheit. On the other hand, the temperature of the Sun's interior is 27,000,000° Fahrenheit. The Goracle is only off by a few million degrees unless he believes we live on the Sun. This is what happens when you pretend to be a scientific expert after making a "C" and a "D" in your only two college semesters of natural science.

There is only one goddess Gaia and Al Gore is her prophet

Transcript from Hot Air:
Conan: Now, what about … you talk in the book about geothermal energy …

Al: Yeah, yeah.

Conan: and that is, as I understand it, using the heat that’s generated from the core of the earth …

Al: Yeah.

Conan: … to create energy, and it sounds to me like an evil plan by Lex Luthor to defeat Superman. Can you, can you tell me, is this a viable solution, geothermal energy?

Al: It definitely is, and it’s a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy — when they think about it at all — in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot …
