President Barack Obama and the first family will return to Hawaii for their Christmas vacation next week for the eighth year running.
The White House confirmed Friday that the Obamas are due to leave Washington for the island on December 18, the Huffington Post reports.
It is not yet known where they will stay this year, though they have traditionally rented out a property in the upscale Kailua area on Oahu island.
During their year-end trips to the Hawaiian islands the Obamas typically lounge around their rental home, venturing out only on occasion for shaved ice and dinner with their friends.

President Barack Obama is back at the White House after spending two weeks with his family in Hawaii.
Obama took an overnight flight on Air Force One back from the island of Oahu, where the Obamas vacation every year.
Obama was rarely seen in public during the trip and spent his time golfing, on the beach with family or dining in Honolulu’s restaurants.
On his last day, he and his daughters visited Pearl Jam’s lead singer, Eddie Vedder.
Obama’s public schedule picks back up Tuesday when he meets with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto (PAYN’-yuh nee-EH’-toh).
Obama will travel later in the week to Michigan, Arizona and Tennessee as he gears up for his State of the Union address on Jan. 20.
He’ll face a Republican-run Congress that convenes Tuesday.

VP Joe Biden taking third vacation in a month...

The Bidens are arriving today in the Hamptons to start their third vacation in a month.
“Vice President Joe Biden is arriving to spend a week in the Southampton area before leaving next Tuesday,” News12 reports. “Biden lands in Westhampton this morning. It’s not known if he’ll meet up with two other big Democrats staying in the Hamptons this week. Hillary and Bill Clinton are already in Amagansett.”
The official guidance from the White House is a little less direct: “The Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden will visit Long Island, New York. There are no public events scheduled,” the vice president’s schedule reads.
The Hamptons are in Long Island.
Last week the Bidens were in Wyoming for another vacation. “It’s summer vacation time for the vice president,” USA Today reported on August 7.
“Joe Biden and wife Jill began some time off Thursday in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, his office said, and will be there through Monday.”
The week before that one, the Bidens vacationed in Rehoboth Beach.

(Press Enterprise) – President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama land at Palm Springs International Airport just after 6 p.m. Friday, straight from a visit to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota.
At 8:25 a.m. Saturday, they’ll jump over to Laguna Beach for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser, followed by the commencement address to UC Irvine’s Class of 2014 at Angel Stadium.
The Obamas will return to the desert by about 2:10 p.m. Saturday, staying for Father’s Day, before flying home to Washington, D.C., about 10 a.m. Monday. It’s unclear if their daughters, Malia and Sasha, will tag along.
What is Obama’s plan here in the Coachella Valley? Presumably a short vacation, and likely a round of golf or two – though the details remain fuzzy.

For President Barack Obama and his family to visit Africa in June 2013 and then Honolulu in December 2013, the cost to taxpayers for flight costs alone were $15,885,585, according to Air Force records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by the government watchdog Judicial Watch.
The flights to, from, and around Africa in June-July 2013 totaled 35.5 hours at a cost of $228,288 an hour, which totals $8,104,224, reported Judicial Watch in a press release.
The flights for the 17-day Christmas vacation in Honolulu in December 2013-January 2014 totaled 36.9 hours at a cost of $210,877 per hour, which totals $7,781,361.
Combined, flight costs for those two trips were $15.8 million.

First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California.
Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. One source said, “Some of those heading into Aspen were whining that they’re shutting the airport for an hour so nobody can get in on their private jets on a high travel day.” The weather in New York and in Aspen caused further delays. The White House did not get back to us about the first lady’s arrival.

They are protecting the Bidens as they vacation -- but aren't getting paid because of the federal shutdown.

Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.

In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.
Bo, the president's Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.

Arizona Senator, Jeff Flake, took a vacation from Capitol Hill, and went on a four day survivalist holiday with his two teenage sons to an isolated, uninhabited tropical island.

A Republican Congressman, Flake and his youngest sons, Taller, 15, and Dallin, 13, traveled 5,200 miles from Phoenix, Arizona to Biggarenn, in the North Pacific Ocean, without any food or water.

Part of the Marshall Islands, the beach front destination offered no amenities, forcing the Flakes to catch and cook their own food, purify their water, and swim with the sharks to procure their meals.

Sasha and Malia Obama are quietly vacationing at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Breitbart News has learned.

A source tipped Breitbart News off to the First Daughters’ spring vacation, which was not publicly announced or reported.

Breitbart subsequently confirmed President Barack Obama’s daughters’ trip with other sources.

Now, they are on a ski trip to Sun Vally, Idaho.

A local news affiliate in Idaho reported that the first daughters, Sasha and Malia Obama, are on a Spring Break ski trip in Sun Valley, Idaho. The story quickly spread across the Internet when picked up by the highly trafficked Drudge Report website.

 The WH has confirmed they had the ski trip story scrubbed from a local news source.

UPDATE: The White House has confirmed the report was removed on their request. From Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady:

From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls. 

It's good to be the daughters of the King. The school kids who wanted to tour the White House on their spring break are hardest hit.

(CNSNews.com) — Just two days after President Barack Obama gave a sharply edged response to news anchor Larry Conners of KMOV in St. Louis after Conners had asked the president about Americans who “get frustrated and even angered when they see the first family jetting around [to] different vacations and so forth,” Obama told a panel at the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia that part of his job there was to scout out locations for a future vacation with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Obama was speaking on a panel with Colombian President Juan Mauel Santos and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff when he made the remarks. The panel was moderated by Chris Matthews of MSNBC.

“I want to thank President Santos and the people of Colombia for the extraordinary hospitality in the beautiful city of Cartagena,” said Obama. “We’re having a wonderful time. And usually when I take these summit trips, part of my job is to scout out where I may want to bring Michelle back later for vacation. So we’ll make sure to come back sometime in the near future.”. . .

First lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are visiting Las Vegas after stopping in South Dakota on a family trip.

A spokeswoman for McCarran International Airport confirmed that the first lady was expected to arrive in Las Vegas Wednesday night. The visit wasn’t expected to affect flight operations.

White House officials say the Obamas are on a private family trip to the West.

Michelle Obama's Hawaiian Vacation Has Worn Off In A Month, She Is Heading To Aspen.

(Aspen Daily News) — First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in Aspen on Friday afternoon and is here with her daughters for a ski vacation.

Few details about her trip were available. Sources said she is staying at the home of Jim and Paula Crown, owners of the Aspen Skiing Co. She is reportedly skiing at Buttermilk today, where the Crowns, of Chicago, own a home on the Tiehack side.

Several people have known about the “low-key” vacation, with the Secret Service in town for the past few days scoping out places for the family to relax and enjoy what the resort has to offer.
Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo confirmed that he has met with the Secret Service and has loaned seven deputies to help protect the first lady and her family.

Nancy Pelosi is spending Christmas in $10,000 a night Hawaiian resort

No word if Pelosi and Obama will take time off from their 1% Hawaiian vacations to meet and plan the final destruction of the American dream.

Obama’s trip to the island of Oahu has proved much pricier to state and federal taxpayers.

A British Royal Navy ship was ordered to turn its guns around because they were parked pointing at a hotel room Michelle Obama was staying in.

Fearing the First Lady might be in danger, minders ordered the captain of the HMS Edinburgh stationed in Cape Town, South Africa, to switch them away from her five-star suite.

President Obama has embarked on a long vacation at a ritzy Martha's Vineyard estate that rents for $50,000 a week. He doesn't want his golf game advertised.

(Boston Globe) — If his comings and goings yesterday are any indication, President Obama will be keeping a very low profile during his Martha’s Vineyard vacation.

On Day 1 of the first family’s nine-day stay on the island, Obama remained mostly out of sight, not emerging from Blue Heron Farm until 12:15 p.m., when his motorcade headed into Vineyard Haven and a visit to Bunch of Grapes Bookstore. (Daughters Sasha and Malia walked out with a bag containing, among other books, David Gessner’s “My Green Manifesto: Down the Charles River in Pursuit of a New Environmentalism,’’ which we recommended Obama read in our column this week.)

But it was later, at the Vineyard Golf Course in Edgartown, where the president’s recalcitrance was most evident. Approaching the eighth tee in a golf cart with friend and frequent golfing buddy Eric Whitaker, the president noticed three TV cameras and a Globe photographer across the street. Rather than stop and be photographed teeing off, the president skipped the hole.
