A law enforcement official has identified the suspect arrested in Wednesday's shooting as Floyd Corkins II of Herndon, Va. Investigators were interviewing his neighbors.

Another official says the shooter made a negative reference about the work of the Family Research Council before opening fire. The officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

David Mariner is executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community. He says Corkins had been volunteering at the center for about the past 6 months. Mariner describes Corkins as "kind, gentle and unassuming."

(Haaretz) — A British animal rights organization has asked the Pakistani government for permission to promote peace by decorating the compound where al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was killed last month, the organization announced Thursday.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said they had written to President Asif Ali Zardari, asking him to allow them paint the compound walls with slogans reading, “Give Peas a Chance – Go Vegan” and “Nonviolence begins on your plate.”

“The art work will feature images of peas arranged to represent different religious symbols, including the Christian cross, the Muslim star and crescent, the Hindu Aum, and the Jewish Star of David,” said PETA president Ingrid Newkirk.

High Profile Anti-abortion Activist Gunned Down. Will Obama Issue a Statement?

Anti-abortion activist James Lawrence , 63, of Owosso, Michigan was gunned down across the street from a school full of children. Mr. Pouillon was well known locally and could often be seen around town with his walker, oxygen bottle and anti-abortion sign.

OWOSSO, Michigan -- An anti-abortion activist gunned down Friday morning in front of Owosso High School has been identified as James Lawrence Pouillon, 63, of Owosso.

Pouillon was a longtime abortion protester, known for his highly vocal and visible public demonstrations around the community and even outside the state....

After late term abortion doctor George Tiller was murdered, president Obama was outraged and issued a statement by noon of the next day.

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.

Does anyone believe President Obama will issue a statement on this heinous act by noon Saturday?

Obama picks hispanic female liberal activist for the Supreme Court

Obama has picked, Sonia Sotomayor, a female hispanic liberal activist for the Supreme Court. That just about covers all his base supporters. Why are we not shocked?

Judge Sotomayor is a liberal judicial activist of the first order who thinks her own personal political agenda is more important that the law as written. She thinks that judges should dictate policy, and that one's sex, race, and ethnicity ought to affect the decisions one renders from the bench.

She reads racial preferences and quotas into the Constitution, even to the point of dishonoring those who preserve our public safety. On September 11, America saw firsthand the vital role of America's firefighters in protecting our citizens. They put their lives on the line for her and the other citizens of New York and the nation. But Judge Sotomayor would sacrifice their claims to fair treatment in employment promotions to racial preferences and quotas. The Supreme Court is now reviewing that decision.

She has an extremely high rate of her decisions being reversed, indicating that she is far more of a liberal activist than even the current liberal activist Supreme Court.
