Hong Kong’s government Wednesday announced a roadmap for
leadership elections that offered no concessions to the city’s democracy
camp — prompting opposition lawmakers to walk out as the plan was
unveiled.
Deputy leader Carrie Lam said the first-ever public vote for the post
of chief executive in 2017 would be held in “strict compliance” with a
ruling by China’s National People’s Congress last August.
That ruling stated that candidates for chief executive must first be
approved by a loyalist committee — a decision that sparked more than two
months of street protests that paralysed the city towards the end of
last year.

China’s Communist Party newspaper actually though NK's dictator Kim Jong Un was named “Sexiest Man Alive?" Really?
BEIJING (AP)
– The online version of China’s Communist Party newspaper has hailed a
report by The Onion naming North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as the
“Sexiest Man Alive” — not realizing it is satire.
The People’s Daily on Tuesday ran a 55-page photo spread on its
website in a tribute to the round-faced leader, under the headline
“North Korea’s top leader named The Onion’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2012.”
Quoting the Onion’s spoof report, the Chinese newspaper wrote: “”With
his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his
strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman’s
dream come true.”
“Blessed with an air of power that masks an unmistakable cute, cuddly
side, Kim made this newspaper’s editorial board swoon with his
impeccable fashion sense, chic short hairstyle, and, of course, that
famous smile,” the People’s Daily cited the Onion as saying.
The photos the People’s Daily selected include Kim on horseback
squinting into the light and Kim waving towards a military parade. In
other photos, Kim is wearing sunglasses and smiling, or touring a
facility with his wife.
Workers’ Voices, a front group for the AFL-CIO, has been billed as the “largest union super-PAC,” even though its own website declares it is not an exclusively union-oriented organization. “Workers’ Voice represents and fights for all working families, union and non-union,” the site proclaims. [...]
Their name, however, may not be the best-conceived political label for a group seeking to sway voter opinion in an election. As it turns out, Workers’ Voices is a fairly routine and common name for propaganda newspapers and broadsides affiliated with the Communist Party. In Detroit, a group calling itself the Communist Voice Organization has for a long time published the Detroit Workers’ Voice. Worker’s Voice was also the name of an Irish newspaper with ties to the Communist Party there. Other Communist Party groups in other nations have also used the name frequently.
From the beginning the votes that they give us are for a very specific purpose, they give us these elections to put the stamp of legitimacy on the crimes and horrors that America commits around the world and the millions of people who’s lives it crushes, degrades, and murders.
You know that’s what this is and no good can come of this, nothing positive. You know I’m a communist, you know, look.
Nothing positive can come about unless you get rid of America and everything it stands for.
President Obama has been working toward this goal for three years...
He should be used to the experience after meeting with the Democratic caucus in Washington.
New Delhi: The Left may have staged protests during his visit but US President Barack Obama was “glad” to meet an Indian communist leader last evening.
“I am glad to meet an Indian communist. I am told that communists have been part of the (Indian) political mainstream,” Obama told CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury at the Rashtrapati Bhawan banquet as they were introduced and both shook hands.
White House Communications Director Anita Dunn will step down by the end of November and be replaced by her deputy Dan Pfeiffer, Fox News has learned.
Dunn's departure had been expected as she took the position on an interim basis earlier in the year. The White House had long said Dunn would leave before the end of 2009.
Now she will have more time to spend studying her favorite philosopher, Chairman Mao.
Although the GOP has accused President Obama of driving the US towards socialism, President Obama has denied that he is a socialist. He has a hard time admitting it is even a "serious" question. Many on the left ridicule those who call Obama a socialist and say they don't know the definition of socialism. Here is the traditional definition from Dictionary.com:
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. 2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory. 3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.
Democratic socialists do not want to create an all-powerful government bureaucracy. But we do not want big corporate bureaucracies to control our society either. Rather, we believe that social and economic decisions should be made by those whom they most affect.
Today, corporate executives who answer only to themselves and a few wealthy stockholders make basic economic decisions affecting millions of people. Resources are used to make money for capitalists rather than to meet human needs. We believe that the workers and consumers who are affected by economic institutions should own and control them.
Social ownership could take many forms, such as worker-owned cooperatives or publicly owned enterprises managed by workers and consumer representatives.
Socialism in America today means means government ownership or control of the means of production in order to make money for social needs.
In order to understand Barack Obama's view of socialism, we need to understand his history. Was he raised as a socialist?
Barack Obama's first book was titled "Dreams of My Father." Since Obama's father abandoned him at an early age, he should not have been a major influence to Barack Obama. For completeness, it should be noted that Barack Obama Sr. had socialist/communist leanings. In 1965 Obama Sr. wrote an important paper titled "Problems Facing Our Socialism." In this paper, Obama Sr. put himself on the side of communist-allied leader Oginga Odinga against pro-Western 'third way" leader Tom Mboya in Kenya.
Brarck Obama was raised by his mother and his maternal grandparents. What were their political views? Barack Obama's mothers political views are not well documented. It is known she was a Adlai Stevenson liberal and cultural anthropologist. She went to a high school ran by an admitted communist. While there, she was required to read "Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and defended this philosophy in debates.
What about Obama's maternal grandparents Stanley and Madelyn Dunham? They have been reported in the mainstream media as strict Methodists. However, during Ann's high school years they went to East Shore Unitarian Church in nearby Bellevue, nicknamed 'the little Red church on the hill,' for their left leaning sympathies and support of Communist China. As reported in the preceding paragraph, the Dunham's sent their daughter to a High School ran by an admitted communist. It is also well known that Stanley Dunham was good friends with radical activist, journalist and suspected communist Frank Marshall Davis. In his book "Dreams of My Father" Barack Obama tells how Davis mentored him when he was dealing with racial issues. The above biographical information indicates Barack Obama had a very left of center upbringing.
After college, Barack Obama moved to Chicago where his association with left leaning groups like ACORN are well known. Obama's association with Bill Ayers has also been documented. Ayres was a former member of the terrorist Weatherman group, a Communist-driven splinter faction of Students for a Democratic Society. When Obama ran for State Senate in Illinois in 1995, he was endorsed by the Democratic Socialist of America splinter group "New Party." Obama's "Fight the Smears" website denies he was ever a member of or sought endorsement of the socialist "New Party." It is true that Obama has always ran as a Democrat. However, photos and literature from 1995 identify Obama as a "New Party" member. Since he ran unopposed in 1995, it is difficult to explain why he attended "New Party" events if he wasn't a member. He didn't need the votes. What has President Obama done since being elected that could be considered socialist? He appointed a known Communist as his green jobs czar. Also, Obama has greatly expanded the takeover of major banks that was begun during the final months of the Bush administration. Under Obama, the government has taken over General Motors, America's largest auto manufacturer. The government forced Chrysler to be turned over to the workers in the UAW.
Now, President Obama is pushing health care reform that includes a government run health care option. The justification he uses for this is insurance companies are evil because they make too much profit. In this week's weekly address, President Obama reams insurance companies for making a profit. Most of the video is a rant against insurance companies, but the criticism of profits comes at the 4:00 mark.
President Obama thinks company profits should be secondary to the public interest. Let's remember how the Democratic Socialists of America describe socialism:
Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few.
President Obama was born of and raised by leftist, socialists and/or communists. His actions as President indicate the apple has not fallen far from the tree.
Obama's Green Czar Van Jones criticized civil rights leaders for not advocating, "redistribution of all the wealth" after the Rosa Parks indecent. Van Jones also said, "We want to go beyond the systems of exploitation and oppression all together."
From the video:
"Right after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat if the civil rights leaders had jumped out and said OK now we want reparations for Slavery, we want redistribution of all the wealth, and we want to legalize mixed marriages. If we'd come out with a maximum program the very next day, they'd been laughed at. Instead they came out with a very minimum. "We just want to integrate these busses..." But, inside that minimum demand was a very radical kernel that eventually meant that from 1964 to 1968 complete revolution was on the table for this country.
And, I think that this green movement has to pursue those same steps and stages. Right now we say we want to move from suicidal gray capitalism to something eco-capitalism where at least we're not fast-tracking the destruction of the whole planet. Will that be enough? No, it won't be enough. We want to go beyond the systems of exploitation and oppression all together. But, that's a process and I think that's what's great about the movement that is beginning to emerge is that the CRISIS is so severe in terms of joblessness, violence and now ecological threats that people are willing to be both pragmatic and visionary. So the green economy will start off as a small subset and we are going to push it and push it and push it until it becomes the engine for transforming the whole society.
Liberals insist Van Jones is not a communist. Here is an Air America "Fun Fact" proclaiming Van Jones is a good capitalist.
If you are not familiar with President Obama's "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones, you will be shocked. President Obama has appointed a (former?) communist revolutionary and radical to head up his "green jobs" program. Glenn Beck does a great in depth video analysis of Anthony Van Jones.
A few short years ago Anthony (Van) Jones was a Bay Area radical agitator-a committed Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, waging war on the police and capitalist system.
The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Chair Nancy Sutley announced yesterday that Van Jones – an early green jobs visionary -- will start Monday as Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation at CEQ:
"I met all these young radical people of color - I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of... I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary...I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th..By August, I was a communist."
