Obama's Justice department suing North Carolina over new voting rules

Voter ID scares democrats to death...

Via FoxNews:
The Justice Department will announce Monday that it is suing the state of North Carolina for alleged racial discrimination over tough new voting rules.
A person briefed on the department’s plans told Fox News that the suit would claim that the North Carolina statute violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and would seek to have the state subject to federal pre-clearance before making “future voting-related changes.” The person also said the suit would be filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Nashville, Tenn.
In asking for pre-clearance, the Justice Department will ask a federal judge to place the four provisions in North Carolina’s new law under federal scrutiny for an indeterminate period.

Least shocking story of the day: Justice Department considering civil rights prosecution against George Zimmerman...

I wouldn't be surprised if Holder goes for it.
WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors are pressing forward with their investigation into the killing of Trayvon Martin following the acquittal of the man who shot him, George Zimmerman, on state charges, a spokesperson for the Justice Department said Sunday. “Experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation of any of the limited federal criminal civil rights statutes within our jurisdiction, and whether federal prosecution is appropriate in accordance with the Department’s policy governing successive federal prosecution following a state trial,” Dena W. Iverson, a Justice spokesperson, said in a statement. The Justice Department’s civil rights division as well as the FBI are continuing to investigate Martin’s death, the statement said. Civil rights groups and Martin supporters have called on the Justice Department to prosecute Zimmerman following his acquittal Saturday night. Sunday’s statement was the first response from Justice following the public pressure campaign. Keep on reading…

Federal Appeals Court Orders Obama to Show His Cards on Federal Courts Authority

A Federal Appeals Court has ordered Obama's Justice Department to tell them if they believe Federal Courts have ability to strike down Federal Law. Popcorn anyone?

(CBS News) — In the escalating battle between the administration and the judiciary, a federal appeals court apparently is calling the president’s bluff — ordering the Justice Department to answer by Thursday whether the Obama Administration believes that the courts have the right to strike down a federal law, according to a lawyer who was in the courtroom.

The order, by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, appears to be in direct response to the president’s comments yesterday about the Supreme Court’s review of the health care law. Mr. Obama all but threw down the gauntlet with the justices, saying he was “confident” the Court would not “take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”

Overturning a law of course would not be unprecedented — since the Supreme Court since 1803 has asserted the power to strike down laws it interprets as unconstitutional. The three-judge appellate court appears to be asking the administration to admit that basic premise — despite the president’s remarks that implied the contrary. The panel ordered the Justice Department to submit a three-page, single-spaced letter by noon Thursday addressing whether the Executive Branch believes courts have such power, the lawyer said.

Eric Holder won't prosecute illegals for stealing social security numbers, but will prosecute people for using fake social network names

The duplicity of Eric Holders Justice Department is bizarre beyond belief. He won't prosecute illegals for identity theft, even though millions are using stolen names and social security numbers. However, if you lie about your name on  Facebook or your weight on Match.com, he wants to prosecute you under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
(CNET)- In a statement obtained by CNET that's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, the Justice Department argues that it must be able to prosecute violations of Web sites' often-ignored, always-unintelligible "terms of service" policies.

The law must allow "prosecutions based upon a violation of terms of service or similar contractual agreement with an employer or provider," Richard Downing, the Justice Department's deputy computer crime chief, will tell the U.S. Congress tomorrow.

Scaling back that law "would make it difficult or impossible to deter and address serious insider threats through prosecution," and jeopardize prosecutions involving identity theft, misuse of government databases, and privacy invasions, according to Downing.

The law in question, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act,...

Shocking: Obama Administration Gives Grants to Groups Attempting to Thwart U.S. Law

Actually, it isn't that shocking.
(Judicial Watch) — The Obama Justice Department has recently awarded millions of dollars in politically-motivated grants with a chunk of the money going to community groups that help illegal immigrants, a Judicial Watch investigation has found.

“Nonprofits” that share the administration’s anti-capital punishment stance also got quite a bit of money from the Department of Justice (DOJ), according to grant announcements posted on the government’s spending website and analyzed in the course of JW’s probe. In fact, just last month the DOJ gave the Innocence Project of Texas its first federal grant, a whopping quarter of a million dollars. The group has worked endlessly to abolish the death penalty in the Lone Star State. . . .

Outrageous as those may seem, the federal agency charged with enforcing the law and defending the nation’s interests dedicated even more taxpayer money to help illegal aliens in the last few months, JW found. Just last month the New York-based Vera Institute of Justice got nearly $3 million for a “legal orientation program” for detained aliens. The group, which gets significant funding from leftwing billionaire George Soros, had previously received millions of dollars in federal contracts in the last several years.

Is the Obama Justice Department on Our Team or the Terrorists?

Hopefully, President Obama and Eric Holder's Justice Department is working for us. The answer is not as clear as you may think. In response to a request by Sen. Charles Grassley, Attorney General Eric Holder has admitted nine Justice department appointees were previously working on the terrorist team.

Attorney General Eric Holder says nine Obama appointees in the Justice Department have represented or advocated for terrorist detainees before joining the Justice Department.

Team Obama Stonewalls Civil Rights Commission on Black Panther Case

Remember when Black Panthers with billy clubs blocked a polling place entrance in Philadelphia during the 2008 Presidential election? Here is the video:

Obama's Justice Department drop charges against the men last month in spite of having the case won. The U.S. Civil Rights Commission is investigating, but Team Obama isn't cooperating.

Last month, the Obama administration’s decision to dismiss a default judgment against the New Black Panther Party in a clear case of voter intimidation (caught on videotape and circulated on the internet) drew scrutiny from Congress and from the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. That scrutiny has now resulted in one announced investigation by the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) and set the stage for a battle between the administration and the Commission.
