Netanyahu wins decisively...

Barack Obama hardest hit...

Via Times of Israel:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party was the clear winner in Tuesday’s election, a near-final tally showed early Wednesday morning, defeating the Zionist Union by a margin of some six seats.
That margin was far more decisive than TV exit polls had predicted when polling booths closed at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. All three TV polls had put Likud and Zionist Union neck-and-neck at 27 seats, albeit with Netanyahu better-placed to form a coalition.
On the basis of those TV polls, Netanyahu hailed a Likud victory, though Herzog refused to concede. As counting proceeded through the night, however, the Likud opened a growing margin of victory.

Flashback to July: Speaker Nancy Pelosi guarantees that Democrats will hold the House

In a July 15, 2010 fund-raising letter sent to DCCC supporters, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi guaranteed Democrats would keep control of the House. DCCC donors should demand a refund.

Via the DCCC:
Here is what will happen in November. Democrats will keep control of the House. Period.

While some Washington pundits are claiming that Republicans have the momentum, I remain more confident in our chances for victory as long as we have our secret weapon -- you

A special message for Nancy Pelosi: Start Packing. You need to get out of John Boehner's office.

Score a Victory for Freedom of Speech

An employee at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune has won a victory for free speech. After his son was killed in the USS Cole attack, he put decals on his vehicle pointing out the link between Islam and terrorism. Marine Corps officials told him to remove the decals or he couldn't park on federal property because they were offensive. Meanwhile, the Marine Corps allowed pro-Islamic decals. A Federal judge ruled this week he could keep the anti-Islamic decals as long as the military allowed the pro-Islamic ones.

Team Obama Tries to Take Credit for Iraq Victory

Joe Biden wanted to partition Iraq and President Obama voted against the surge that brought about stability in Iraq. Somehow, this makes President Obama responsible for victory in Iraq.

Gibbs is a shameless liar.

State Run Media Tries to Ignore Republican Victories

The State run media is in full damage control mode after big Republican victories in the gubernatorial races for Virginia and New Jersey. Take a look at the Los Angeles Times website last night. The focus was on regional Democratic victories.

Over at CBS, Bob Schieffer denies the vote was a referendum on Obama and compares Republicans to McGovern.

From NewsBusters:
Shortly before the polls closed, CBS's chief Washington correspondent, Bob Schieffer, rejected any effort to tie President Barack Obama to two the Democratic gubernatorial candidates for whom Obama campaigned, insisting on Tuesday's CBS Evening News that the contests were more about local issues and so “I don't think they had much to do with anything but New Jersey and Virginia.”

Citing the special congressional race in New York, Schieffer rued “this third-party conservative who literally pushed a moderate Republican out of the race,” and proceeded to analogize Republicans this year to leftist activists who in 1972 pushed Democrats to pick an un-electable presidential candidate:
The Republican Party is really split and it is the conservatives who seem to have the juice right now. It's very much like what Democrats went through in 1972. The party activists on the left were so upset with mainstream candidates that in an effort to purify their party they pushed it so far to the left that they nominated the very liberal George McGovern for President. Now it's conservative Republicans who are upset with their mainstream candidates. They want to push the party to the right.

Republicans win big in New Jersey and Virginia

Republicans have picked up the Governorships of Virginia and New Jersey. Virginia was not a surprise. Recent Polling had Republican Bob McDonnell up by a double digit lead. The final margin of victory was larger than expected at 17 points. New Jersey was expected to be close, but Democrats usually win those after finding several boxes full of uncounted Democratic ballots. The 4 point margin of victory by Republican Chris Christie over current Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine precluded the kind of behind the scenes election stealing Democrats have become famous for in recent years. President Obama campaigned heavily for Corzine. The night wasn't a complete success for Republicans. The Conservative candidate in NY-23, Doug Hoffman, lost a close race to the Democrat Bill Owens. This race was marred by the liberal Republican candidate dropping out and endorsing the Democrat. Her supporters broke 3-1 for the Democrat. Meanwhile, President Obama claimed he wasn't interested. Reportedly, he watched a Chicago Bulls basketball game instead of election results. I doubt that is accurate, but we can be sure blue dog Democrats were watching.

FOX News reported:
Republicans swept to victory in the New Jersey and Virginia governor's races Tuesday, scoring a pair of decisive wins in states that voted for President Obama a year ago.

The Democrats were able to prevent a shut-out, though, pulling out a narrow victory in a closely watched congressional election in upstate New York. Democrat Bill Owens beat Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman in that race.

The Republican victories nevertheless marked a potential turnaround after two consecutive cycles of midterm losses. In New Jersey, Republican Chris Christie beat out Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, even though Obama campaigned heavily for the incumbent in the closing days of the race and the state has not elected a Republican governor since 1993.

Here is a picture to celebrate the first Republican New Jersey Governor in over two decades.
