Change: Egypt looking to Russia for new weapons...

Obama cut off Egypt's weapons purchases after they ousted the Islamic extremist Muslim Brotherhood.

Via JPost
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi paid his first visit in office to Russia, meeting with President Vladimir Putin, agreeing to increase cooperation, and discussing an arms deal that would include advanced weapons that could be used to fight terrorism emanating from Sinai.
The parties discussed the delivery of Russian arms, including “24 Mikoyan MiG- 29 fighter jets, as well as its Kornet anti-tank missile systems, attack helicopters Kamov Ka-25, Mil Mi-28 and Mi-25,” Russia’s RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.
“We are also actively developing military technical cooperation. In March, we signed a corresponding protocol. We are supplying arms to Egypt and have agreed to expand this cooperation,” the Russian president said in remarks at a press conference after the talks, the Kremlin website reported.
“We fully share Egypt’s active stance in combating international terrorism, especially in conditions of an unprecedented growth of a terrorist threat in the Middle East,” Putin said.
Egypt signed a $2 billion arms deal with Russia, with financial support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, a senior official told Al-Masry al-Youm in February.

Britain threatens to cut off weapons exports to Israel if current truce breaks down...

So, if Hamas fires more rockets, Israel is supposed to turn the other cheek?  Israel should cancel the weaposn orders and order from a country more politically stable.
LONDON (Reuters) – Britain said on Tuesday it would suspend 12 licenses to export military items to Israel, including tank, aircraft and radar parts, if hostilities with Hamas in Gaza resumed, citing concerns the exports may be used to breach international laws.
Britain said last week it was reviewing all arms export licenses to Israel after fierce fighting which has resulted in heavy civilian casualties in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
That review concluded on Tuesday that 12 licenses would be temporarily suspended pending further investigation if the current truce breaks down and heavy fighting resumes.
“The UK government has not been able to clarify if the export license criteria are being met,” Business Secretary Vince Cable said in a statement.
“In light of that uncertainty, we have taken the decision to suspend these existing export licenses in the event of a resumption of significant hostilities.”
Israel says its operation in Gaza is self-defense, aimed at stopping rockets being fired from the enclave by Islamist militants.

Report: CIA is now delivering weapons to rebels in Syria

Bashar al-Assad is a bad man. Al Qaeda is with the rebels.  Am I the only one hoping the all kill each other?

Via WaPo:
The CIA has begun delivering weapons to rebels in Syria, ending months of delay in lethal aid that had been promised by the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials and Syrian figures. The shipments began streaming into the country over the past two weeks, along with separate deliveries by the State Department of vehicles and other gear — a flow of material that marks a major escalation of the U.S. role in Syria’s civil war.
The arms shipments, which are limited to light weapons and other munitions that can be tracked, began arriving in Syria at a moment of heightened tensions over threats by President Obama to order missile strikes to punish the regime of Bashar al-Assad for his alleged use of chemical weapons in a deadly attack near Damascus last month.
The arms are being delivered as the United States is also shipping new types of nonlethal gear to rebels. That aid includes vehicles, sophisticated communications equipment and advanced combat medical kits.
U.S. officials hope that, taken together, the weapons and gear will boost the profile and prowess of rebel fighters in a conflict that started about 21 / 2 years ago. Keep on reading...

Great News: Assault weapons ban falls short in Senate...

Sen. Dianne Feinstein hardest hit...
(TPM) — The Senate on Wednesday defeated an amendment, introduced by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), that would have reinstated a federal assault weapons ban. The bill failed by a 40 to 60 vote, falling short of the 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster.

Obama on Romney's claim Iran will get nukes if Obama is re-elected: "...Not going to comment..."

This must be another one of those questions that are above Obama's pay grade.

Via Freedom's Lighthouse:
Obama was asked about Gov. Mitt Romney’s statement in the GOP Debate Saturday night that if President Obama is re-elected, it’s a virtual lock that Iran will obtain Nuclear Weapons. Obama would not answer, saying he is going to refrain from responding to what is said in Republican Debates “until they have an actual nominee.”

Gaza Flotilla Had "Cache of Weapons" on Board

All photos from IDF.

You can see some of the weapons found on board the Gaza "peace activists" flotilla above.

IDF reported:
After IDF soldiers succeeded in stopping the attack against them by passengers on board the Mavi Marmara ship, the ship was brought to the Ashdod port and arrived in the late hours of Monday evening (May 31). Flotilla participants were brought off the ship and taken for questioning.

Once the activists left the ship, security forces began a thorough search and found a supply of weapons, including knives, Molotov cocktails, detonators, wood and metal clubs, slingshots and rocks, large hammers and sharp metal objects. In addition, gas masks were found, pointing to the prior intention of the ship’s passengers to use violence against IDF soldiers who would then be forced to use riot dispersal methods.

Obama promises not to use nukes even in self-defense against a chemical or biological attack

President Obama has indirectly invited our enemies to attack us with chemical or biological weapons by promising to not use nuclear weapons against nonnuclear states that are in compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Obama has overruled his own Defense Secretaries initial position on nuclear weapon strategy. Apparently, he believes we possess some 'uber' weaponry his Defense Secretary hasn't been told about.
Those threats, Mr. Obama argued, could be deterred with “a series of graded options,” a combination of old and newly designed conventional weapons.

The NYT
reported:
To set an example, the new strategy renounces the development of any new nuclear weapons, overruling the initial position of his own defense secretary.

Is the Military Option Off the Table for Dealing With Iran?

If we take Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's words at face value, Iran has nothing to fear from the US as they race to build a nuclear weapon. Iran has ratcheted up it nuclear program in response to the ineffective sanctions placed on them by the US and other countries. Now, Hillary is signaling the military option is off the table. She might as well told Iran, "Go on and build your nuclear arsenal."

YNET News reported:

"Obviously, we don't want Iran to become a nuclear weapons power, but we are not planning anything other than going for sanctions,"she told al-Arabiya television.

UAE Seizes Explosives Laden N. Korean Arms Ship Heading to Iran

Sanctions against North Korea were ramped up after there last round of missile firing.
This is the first seizure under the stiffer sanctions, which prohibit North Korea fron selling any conventional weapons.

From Fox News:
UNITED NATIONS — The United Arab Emirates has seized a cargo ship bound for Iran with a cache of banned rocket-propelled grenades and other arms from North Korea, the first such seizure since sanctions against North Korea were ramped up, diplomats and officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

The seizure earlier this month was carried out in accordance with tough new U.N. Security Council sanctions meant to derail North Korea's nuclear weapons program, but which also ban the North's sale of any conventional arms.

Diplomats identified the vessel as a Bahamas-flagged cargo vessel, the ANL Australia. The diplomats and officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

"We can confirm that the UAE detained a North Korean vessel containing illicit cargo," a Western diplomat told the AP.

Turkey's deputy U.N. ambassador, Fazli Corman, who chairs the Security Council's sanctions panel, also confirmed the incident without providing details and said council members are examining the seriousness of it.

The UAE, a hub for Iranian goods, seized the ship earlier in August. The ship is registered in the Bahamas, a common country of registry for vessels, but it wasn't immediately clear who owns it nor where the owner is based.

The Security Council's latest resolution came in the wake of North Korea's second nuclear test in May and firing of six short-range rockets.

Obama equates possession of nuclear weapons by a rogue regime to US having them (video)

It is unbelievable that the President of the United states made such an irresponsible Statement. While talking about Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons during his visit to France, Obama said:
"It's not sufficient for the United States, or France or other members of the nuclear club simply to say all of you have to stop but we're not gonna do anything to change ourselves"

From HotAirPundit:
In Obama's mind our possession of nuclear weapons is no different that a rogue regime having them, he sees America as some imperial power that has to be cut down to size to match every other country.

Obma admits he can't pry assault weapons from Americans cold dead hands

President Obama still wants to bring back the assault weapons ban. However, he has admitted it isn't likely in the current political environment. I guess he will focus on making ammo unavailable instead.
Obama Likely Won’t Pursue Assault Weapons Ban

President Obama said in Mexico Thursday that while he continues to back bringing back the expired assault weapons ban, it would be politically difficult to do so.

He called instead for greater enforcement of existing laws despite the fact that, according to Mexican President Filipe Calderon, such weapons have strengthened organized crime groups in Mexico who are fueling border violence and the drug trade.

“I have not backed off at all from my belief that the assault weapons ban makes sense, and I continue to believe that we can respect and honor the second amendment right in our Constitution,” he said during a press conference with Calderon.(excerpt) read more at cbsnews.com

Pakistan is in danger of collapse within months

A prominent counter-insurgency expert is warning Pakistan could collapse soon. Pakistan is the only Islamic nation known to posses nuclear weapons. If Al Qaeda takes a prominent role in the collapse, they may get the nuclear weapons they seek. There have been unsubstantiated claims of Al Qaeda possession of nuclear weapons in the past. A collapse of Pakistan would increase the possibility this event would actually occur. Here is the story from smh.com.au

PAKISTAN could collapse within months, one of the more influential counter-insurgency voices in Washington says.

The warning comes as the US scrambles to redeploy its military forces and diplomats in an attempt to stem rising violence and anarchy in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"We have to face the fact that if Pakistan collapses it will dwarf anything we have seen so far in whatever we're calling the war on terror now," said David Kilcullen, a former Australian Army officer who was a specialist adviser for the Bush administration and is now a consultant to the Obama White House.

"You just can't say that you're not going to worry about al-Qaeda taking control of Pakistan and its nukes," he said.

Sen. Kerry wants to ban assault weapon imports because of drug gang violence in Mexico

How Sen. John Kerry made this asinine connection is unclear. Sen. Kerry made the call for an import ban while part of a Congressional panel conducting hearings in El Paso on Monday. According to chron.com, Kerry is shocked to see killings and beheadings "just a stone's throw across the Rio Grande from where we're sitting this morning." He did not explain how banning weapons importing will prevent killings and beheadings in the U.S.

Sen. Kerry makes push for tighter gun control

EL PASO — The United States does not need to send troops to the border in response to Mexico's drug war, nor is Mexico in danger of becoming a failed state, law enforcement officials told a congressional panel.

Witnesses testifying before members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in El Paso on Monday urged the lawmakers to bolster law enforcement in the region, increase aid to Mexico and push it to reform institutions whose weaknesses have been exposed by their struggle with drug-trafficking gangs.

At Monday's hearing, committee Chairman Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., said he had been shocked to see killings and beheadings "just a stone's throw across the Rio Grande from where we're sitting this morning."

Across the border, thousands of Mexican soldiers patrol Ciudad Juarez, which saw about 2,000 murders in 14 months.

Kerry called for a ban on the imports of assault rifles, such as the AK-47, into the United States. Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., opposed the idea. (excerpt) read more at chron.com

Taliban are stealing U.S. supplies and selling them(video)

The Taliban are stealing U.S. supplies and selling them in roadside markets. You know this kind of thing happens in wartime, but it still steams your blood. I hope a predator fired 'hellfire' missile has their name on it soon.

The Taliban have taken vital U.S. military equipment and now sells these American supplies in markets along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Sheila MacVicar reports from London.

Iran enters the space age by launching a satellite(video)

Iran has launched it's f1rst homemade satellite. This is a very scary milestone. Many experts think Iran will have a nuclear bomb within one year. How long will it be before Iran can drop a nuclear weapon on Washington, DC or some other major US city?
Iran has launched its first domestically made satellite into orbit, state media reports.

TV commentary said Monday's night-time launch from a Safir-2 rocket was "another achievement for Iranian scientists under sanctions".

The satellite was designed for research and telecommunications purposes, the television report said.

Iran is subject to UN sanctions as some Western powers think it is trying to build a nuclear bomb, which it denies.

Tehran says its nuclear ambitions are limited to the production of energy, and has emphasised its satellite project is entirely peaceful.(excerpted) read more at news.bbc.co.uk

Hamas upholds ceasefire by firing more rockets and mortars

Hamas continued their ceasefire Sunday morning by firing more rockets and mortars into Israel from the Gaza strip. There have been over eighty rockets and mortar shells fired into Israel since the ceasefire began. You just can't make a deal with these terrorists. Barack Obama does not know talking to Hamas will be futile. Hamas is not willing to compromise. Any ceasefire they agree to is just an opportunity for Hamas to regroup and rearm.

Hamas continues to throw Palestinian civilians under the bus

Hamas is smuggling new weapons into Gaza in preparation for a new round of fighting. Only half the tunnels were destroyed during operation Cast Lead. Hamas does not want to negotiate peace. They are willing to fight to the death of every Palestinian civilian in Gaza. Next time you see photos of Palestinian children killed in Israeli bombings; remember the actions of Hamas during the cease fire.

Simulated North Korean missile intercept a success

The simulated North Korean missile intercept was a success. The MSM down played this result because the intercepted warhead did not deploy countermeasures to prevent interception. I can not understand why anyone would be against a missile intercept program. This weapons system is entirely defensive in nature. The fact that it may not work 100% of the time is a very poor argument. Do you fail to fasten your car seat belt because it may not save your life 100% of the time if you were in an automobile accident? Even if a missile intercept program only gave us a 25% chance of stopping a nuclear missile attack, it would be well worth the cost. When the stakes are hundreds of thousands of lives and the poisoning of our environment for decades, the government is responsible to take every precaution possible.

U.S. hails missile shield test but doubts remain
Fri Dec 5, 2008 7:44pm EST

By Andrew Gray

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Friday it conducted a successful test of its missile defense system, but the target failed to deploy measures that experts said could have helped it avoid destruction.

The test took place as the Pentagon braces for more scrutiny of the program after President-elect Barack Obama, a Democrat, takes office in January. The system, which officials say is to defend against states such as North Korea and Iran, is a flagship policy of the Republican Bush administration.

In Friday's test, a target missile was fired from Kodiak, Alaska, and its warhead was destroyed 124 miles above the Pacific Ocean by a "kill vehicle" that detached from an interceptor missile fired from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

"It was the largest, most complex test we have ever done," said U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Patrick O' Reilly, the head of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency.

However, the 40-year-old target missile failed...
