Fewer people are “extremely proud” to be American, according to new polling from Gallup.
The pollster finds that 54 percent are “extremely proud” to be American, which is down from around 70 percent between 2002 and 2004. The percentage may have jumped in those years after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Gallup released the new numbers just before the July 4 holiday.

American troops in Iraq had their first actual battle with ISIS troops, after the Islamist militants tried to overrun a base, an encounter that left the ISIS troops decimated and in retreat.
The attack took place near the Ein al-Asad base, which includes close to 100 U.S. military advisers. The U.S. troops, armed with “light and medium weapons,” and were able to inflict casualties against the ISIS fighters, forcing them to retreat, Shafaq News reported. The American troops were also aided by fighter jets, which directed air strikes against the ISIS troops that “silenced their heavy sources of fire.”
“US forces intervened because of ISIS started to come near the base, which they are stationed in so out of self-defense,” said Sheikh Mahmud Nimrawi, a prominent tribal leader.

Survey: 80% of mosques advocate or promote violence

A survey published by the Middle East Quarterly has found support for violence is widespread inside America's Mosques.

(WND)- Dozens of mosques around the United States have been identified in a new study as incubators for jihad against America, with more than 80 percent of those surveyed advocating violence.

"Of the 100 mosques surveyed, 51 percent had texts on-site rated as severely advocating violence; 30 percent had texts rated as moderately advocating violence; and 19 percent had no violent texts at all," said the survey compiled by Mordechai Kedar and David Yerushalmi and published by the Middle East Quarterly.

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released yesterday shows Americans are fed up with illegal immigration. Seventy-three percent want to decrease the number of illegal immigrants in this country. Thirty-seven percent would deport them all.

Seventy-three percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Thursday morning called for a drop in the number of illegal immigrants, with 22 percent saying the number should remain the same and just 3 percent stating that there should be an increase in the number of illegal immigrants. That 73 percent figure is the highest number since CNN started asking this question four years ago.

A new fever is gripping American voters. They are very angry at the current economic mess and other issues. There is a growing movement on the local level to "throw the bums out." Let's hope this mood transfers to the national level and carries into the 2010 Congressional elections.

Reporting from Flint, Mich. -- As the unemployment rate topped 25% and General Motors planned to cut more jobs in this long-struggling auto town, voters decided to focus their anger on one person: Mayor Donald J. Williamson.

More than 17,000 residents signed a petition demanding his recall, citing waste, corruption, mismanagement and sundry other complaints.

Williamson resigned 10 days before the vote.

"He made people so mad," said Eric Mays, a retired GM worker who led an earlier effort to recall Williamson that failed. "He had to go."

Fueled by the recession, voters nationwide are recalling local leaders, including mayors, school board members, county officials and sheriffs.

Although there is no official tally of recall efforts, the website Ballotpedia:Recall reports at least 52 local campaigns this year -- up from the 24 last year, it said.
