President Obama: “In three years we’ve begun to see what change looks like.”

Change looks like unemployment stuck at over 8% until 2014, an exploding national deficit and gas prices that are now over $5 a gallon in some parts of the country.
BURLINGTON — President Barack Obama rallied friendly Democrats in Vermont Friday, the first presidential visit to the Green Mountain State since 1995, the longest of any state in the country. Obama, who received a raucous welcome at a campaign rally on the University of Vermont campus, said he was happy to “reset the clock” on presidential visits to the state. [...]
“It wasn’t a vision where everybody is left to fend for themselves. It wasn’t a vision where the rules are made just for the powerful. It was a vision of an America where everybody who works hard has a chance to get ahead. Everybody. That’s the vision that we shared. That’s the change that we believed in,” he said. “In three years we’ve begun to see what change looks like.”

President Obama: I didn't fundamentally change Washington, but I did set up a new government website

Uh, thanks. I am sure when people sent Obama to Washington, a new government website was the change they were hoping for.

Via Weekly Standard:
In an interview tonight with News Channel 8’s Keith Cate from Tampa, President Obama praised his administration’s ability to “[use] the Internet more effectively” so that folks, “If they need a government service, they don’t have to navigate through 50 websites, they can go to one website so on those fronts we’ve done a lot, we’ve made a lot of progress.”
The president’s answer came in response to this question from Cate: “One final question, during the last campaign you talked about fundamentally changing the way Washington does business, a more efficient, more transparent, more creative Washington. Have you succeeded in that goal? Are we fundamentally better off? Is Washington a better place, is it working more efficiently?”
President Obama’s is unable to say that he has fundamentally changed “the way Washington does business.” Instead, he is only able to tout some website, pointing only to the smallest changes around the edges.

President Obama's 2012 Slogan: "Change Is"

Is he serious? Does he really want us to finish that for him?
Yes We Did: Obama Deploys ‘Change Is’ Slogan — ABC News

Barack Obama campaigned for president four years ago promising “change we can believe in.”
Now, he’s running for a second term touting the ways that “change is.”

The emerging slogan for the 2012 campaign, on display during a high-profile New York City fundraiser Thursday night, thrusts Obama’s social and domestic policy achievements to the forefront of his re-election pitch.

And its appearance on new Obama-Biden campaign merchandise and apparel suggests the “change is” meme will likely be here to stay.

The messaging — unabashedly transcending criticism and disillusionment over what Obama has not accomplished — raises the stakes of the election for Obama supporters, reminding them that issues such as the health care law, “don’t ask don’t tell” repeal, and federal student-loan aid could all be rolled back if they don’t win.

“Everything we did over the last three years is now at stake in this election,” Obama told a crowd at the Apollo Theater, a line he repeats regularly before donors on the campaign trail.

Obama's Economic Miracle: One Million People Vanish From the Work Force

One million people have dropped out of the workforce. They didn't find a job. They gave up looking. The "Hope" Barack Obama promised didn't come for these Americans. What has changed is the number of people on the food stamp rolls. Over 12 million more people are receiving food stamps now than before Barack Obama assumed the Presidency. That's "Change."

Via IBD:
Initial jobless claims unexpectedly jumped by 24,000 last week to 399,000 as more workers lost their jobs, the Labor Department said Thursday. At the same time, the economy continues to lose workers.
In the 30 months since the recession officially ended, nearly 1 million people have dropped out of the labor force — they aren’t working, and they aren’t looking — according to data from Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. In the past two months, the labor force shrank by 170,000.
This is virtually unprecedented in past economic recoveries, at least since the BLS has kept detailed records. In the past nine recoveries, the labor force had climbed an average 3.5 million by this point, according to an IBD analysis of the BLS data.
“Given weak job prospects, many would-be workers dropped out of (or never entered) the labor force,” noted Heidi Shierholz of the Economic Policy Institute in her analysis of the BLS jobs report issued last Friday. “That reduces the measured unemployment rate but does not represent real improvement.”

Pathetic: President Obama tells supporters, “If you’re willing to work even harder in this election than you did in the last election, I promise you, change will come”

Americans already got the Obama change. We have new taxes, new government mandates, increased regulation, higher unemployment, higher energy costs, more vitriol in Washington and greatly increased debt for our children and grandchildren. What additional change is Obama promising? Full-blown Socialism?
CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama scooped up hometown campaign cash Wednesday and promised supporters that change can still come if they work even harder this time around.

Coming the day after former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s convincing win in New Hampshire’s GOP primary, which established him as the clear front-runner to take on the president in the fall, Obama’s visit home was all about summoning his backers’ enthusiasm for the fight ahead.

“If you’re willing to work even harder in this election than you did in the last election, I promise you, change will come,” Obama said at the first of three evening fundraisers, a large event at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
“You can’t back down — not now. We won’t give up — not now,” Obama said. “We’ve got to send a message we are going to keep pushing and fighting for the change that we believe in.” Read more here...

Team Obama Desperate for the ‘bumper sticker’ of the 2012 campaign

Instead of "Hope and Change," I suggest "How's That Hope & Change Working Out For You?"

From The Hill:
President Obama’s re-election team has been training its fire on potential Republican opponents of late.

But the question of what the president is for, rather than what he is against, has been met with diffuse answers.

Those answers tend to revolve around either general sentiments about protecting the middle class or a broad miscellany of policy goals — economic regeneration, environmental protection and educational improvement among them.

The problem for Team Obama is that, so far, they have found no clear way of encapsulating his case for a second term.

The option of running as the candidate of “hope and change” is no longer available for a man who has occupied the Oval Office for almost three years. But the search for a concise rationale for his candidacy — the ‘bumper sticker’ of the 2012 campaign — has not yet been fruitful.

Unions are losing that Hopey-Changey Feeling

Solidarity for Sale: How Corruption Destroyed the Labor Movement and Undermined America's Promise

Union leaders now think they are getting screwed by democrats too. It couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.
(Politico)- Furious union presidents complained about budget cuts, a new trade agreement and what some view as their abandonment, even by their typically reliable allies among Senate Democrats.

“Now, not only are we getting screwed by the Republicans but the Democrats are doing it too,” said one union official, characterizing the mood at a summit of labor leaders who are worried that Democrats seem unlikely to go to the mat for them as an election year approaches.

Even Poor Americans Are Losing That Hopey-Changey Feeling

The latest Gallop poll has found President Obama's approval has dropped below 50% for even the poorest Americans.
(CNS News) – President Barack Obama’s approval among the poorest Americans dropped to an all-time low of 48 percent last week, according to the Gallup poll, leaving the president with less-than-majority approval among all income brackets reported in Gallup’s presidential approval surveys.

Each week, Gallup publishes the president’s average approval rating for the previous week among four income brackets: those who earn $2,000 per month or less, those who earn between $2,000 and $4,999 per month, those who earn between $5,000 and $7,499 per month, and those who earn $7,500 per month or more.

For the week of April 4-10, Obama’s approval rating was 48 percent among those making $2,000 or less per month, and 46 percent among those in each of the three higher income brackets.

Hey Obama voters! Obama does not want to pay your mortgage or heating bills either

Remember back in 2008 when Obama supporters thought they would not have to pay their gas and mortgage bills after Obama was elected?

Well, guess what? Not only is Obama not helping with the gas and mortgage, he wants to cut heating subsidies by $2.5 billion. Hope and Change, baby!
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama wants to cut $2.5 billion from a $5 billion home heating aid program for the poor, a person familiar with his 2012 budget proposal said Wednesday, halving the popular fund as he looks for places to rein in federal spending.

The proposal would cut the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program to its 2008 level of about $2.5 billion.

The person discussed the details on condition of anonymity because Obama’s spending outline has not been formally released.

The White House plans to send the proposal to Congress on Monday.

'Hope and Change' is dying a slow death. Organizing for America has started laying off staff.

(NRO)- President Obama’s grassroots org is starting off 2011 with a round of layoffs:
The Democratic National Committee’s Organizing for America has started laying off staff in multiple states as the first phase of a restructuring before the official kickoff of President Barack Obama’s re-election bid.
A Democratic source told Roll Call that party officials started notifying employees Sunday night and that the layoffs are mostly a handful of field staffers in some states as Democrats assess where they want to fight 2012 battlegrounds.

President Obama Compares his "Change" to "Freeing the Slaves"

President Obama was elected on a media trumped up feeling of "Hope and Change." This "Hopey-Changey" feeling has worn off for many. Most Americans have come to grips with the fact Obama is no 'Messiah.' President Obama still believes in himself. At an event for Gen44, he compared his "change" to Freeing of the slaves."

Via RCP:
“People are frustrated, their anxious, they’re scared about the future. And they have a right to be impatient about the pace of change. I’m impatient,” President Obama said at an event for Gen44. “It took time to free the slaves,” he added.

Obama Delivers Change: Record Number of Americans Now Receiving Food Stamps

Is this the "Change" Americans voted for in 2008. Where did the "Hope" go?

The Boston Globe reported:
The number of Americans receiving food stamps in March topped 40 million for the first time as the jobless rate hovered near a 26-year high.

Recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program subsidies for food purchases totaled 40.2 million, up 21 percent from a year earlier...
