Simon & Schuster refuse to publish book because it might harm Obama?

Most of the mainstream media is an arm of the Democratic Party. This has been true for a long time, but they don't even try to hide the fact anymore.

While the U.S. Army weighs whether to bring charges against Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was freed earlier this year after spending nearly five years as a Taliban captive in Afghanistan, six of his former platoon mates are shopping proposals for a book and movie that would render their own harsh verdicts.
A draft of their book proposal, a copy of which was obtained by Yahoo News, depicts Bergdahl as a “premeditated” deserter who “put all of our lives in danger” — and possibly aided the Taliban — when he disappeared from his observation post in eastern Afghanistan in the early morning hours of June 30, 2009.
But the political furor over Bergdahl’s release from Taliban captivity — the result of a U.S.-Taliban deal to swap five Guantanamo terrorism suspects in exchange for Bergdahl’s freedom — is complicating the book’s prospects. Agents for the soldiers say that some publishers have balked, in at least one case out of fear that the project would bolster conservative criticism of the Obama administration.
“I’m not sure we can publish this book without the Right using it to their ends,” Sarah Durand, a senior editor at Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, wrote in an email to one of the soldiers’ agents.
“[T]he Conservatives are all over Bergdahl and using it against Obama,” Durand wrote, “and my concern is that this book will have to become a kind of ‘Swift Boat Veterans for Truth’” — a reference to the group behind a controversial book that raised questions about John Kerry’s Vietnam War record in the midst of his 2004 presidential campaign.

In an email this evening, a veteran publishing source calls the latest Hillary Clinton book, Hard Choices, a memoir of her State Department years, a “bomb.” The source is referring to the early but underwhelming sales figures.

“Between us, they are nervous at S&S [Simon & Schuster],” says the source, who gave permission for his email to be published. “Sales were well below expectations and the media was a disaster.”

According to this source, a Simon & Schuster insider, “They sold 60,000 hard covers first week and 24,000 ebooks.” The publishing house was “hoping and praying for 150,000 print first week.”

“The 60k represents a less than 10% sell thru based on what they shipped,” says the source.

It’s been reported that one million copies of Clinton’s book were shipped weeks before the June 10 publication date. “They will be lucky to sell 150,000 total lifetime,” the source writes in the email.

Hillary reportedly received a near-$14 million advance, a sum the publishing house will unlikely make back.

Perhaps Ayers should ghost write another book for Obama.

Unrepentant domestic terrorist and President Obama’s “friend from the neighborhood” Bill Ayers has received a warm welcome for his new book, Public Enemy, on MSNBC. On October 14, he appeared on Morning Joe, where the hosts fawned over him; on October 16, he stopped by Now with Alex Wagner.
Sadly, Public Enemy bombed, according to Bookscan numbers, which track book sales through traditional bookstores and Amazon.com. From October 6 through October 20, Ayers sold a grand total of 467 copies of his book. By contrast, Mark Levin’s Ameritopia sold 56,756 copies in its debut week in 2012.

Al Qaeda calls for death of Navy SEAL who wrote book account of the death of Osama bin Laden

 


Is there anybody al Qaeda does not want to kill?

(CBS News) Al Qaeda has wasted no time in calling for the death of the former Navy SEAL who has written a book under a pseudonym which his publisher Dutton calls a first person account of the death of Osama bin Laden.

A jihadist forum, al-Fidaa, located in Malaysia, posted the death calls and provided the author's name and photograph under a headline titled "First Image of One of the Dogs who killed Bin Laden." Dogs are considered unclean in Islam.

Al-Fidaa, which is also used by al Qaeda to recruit suicide bombers, posted comments by one member, Abu (father of, in Arabic) Dujanah al-Kinani, warning that the "lion's cubs," the mujahedeen (holy warriors), are now waiting for the right time to avenge bin laden's death. Usama means "lion" in Arabic. Ayman al-Zawahiri, the new leader of al-Qaeda has called bin Laden, "the lion of Islam." Jihadi online forums sometimes refer to Bin Laden as the "Lion of the Holy Jihad."

As of writing this post, Gov. Brewer’s book has jumped from 276,665th to 56th place — an increase of 493,944%!

Obama administration pumping up sales of Obama's book

Shameful...

(Washington Times) — The U.S. Department of State has bought more than $70,000 worth of books authored by President Obama, sending out copies as Christmas gratuities and stocking “key libraries” around the world with “Dreams from My Father” more than a decade after its release.

The U.S. embassy in Egypt, for instance, spent $28,636 in August 2009 for copies of Mr. Obama’s bestselling 1995 memoir. Six weeks earlier, the embassy had placed another order with the same book seller, Kalemat Arabia, for more than $9,000 for copies of the same book, federal purchasing records show.

Around the same time, halfway around the world, the U.S. embassy in South Korea had the same idea, spending more than $6,000 for copies of “Dreams from My Father”.

One month later, the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, spent more than $3,800 for hardcover copies of the Indonesian version of Mr. Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope,” records show.

Book Hurled at Obama's Head Sunday

Someone in Philadelphia hurled a book at President Obama's head, narrowly missing him. The U.S. media has mostly ignored the story. So we will go to one of the few places left for honest reporting of U.S. news; the foreign press.

The Daily Mail reported:

This is the astonishing moment a book was apparently hurled at the head of U.S. President Barack Obama during a campaign rally in Philadelphia.

The flying missile narrowly missed hitting the President today.

It is not clear what the book was, where it came from in the crowd, or why it was thrown at Mr Obama – who did not appear to notice the danger.

But it is expected that there will be fallout from the security breach as the Secret Service investigates how close the President came to danger.

The rally was clearly an eventful one – other images showed a naked man being led away in handcuffs by police.

Start watching closely at 4:38.


Contrast this to media coverage of former President Bush having a shoe thrown at him.

So how did the book sell? According to numbers Mediaite obtained from Bookscan, Sanchez’ book sold 802 copies in its first week.

Former Car Czar Rattner Has Written a Kiss-and-Tell Book

This could be interesting. The Huntington Post has seen a copy of former car czar Steve Rattner's new book and there could be some discomfort at the White House over it's contents. Reportedly, the Obama administration was out to get the car companies and playing politics.

FOX News reported:

Former Obama administration car czar Steven Rattner is coming out with a new book that depicts him swashbuckling through the financial crisis and also shows Obama as “out to get” the car companies and the administration making political decisions about how to deal with bankrupt automakers GM and Chrysler.

The Huffington Post got a leaked copy and there is plenty there that will play into this years’ elections – especially since this is the first kiss-and-tell book from the Obama team.

Here is a tidbit to hold you until the book is released.

-Rattner describes presidential political adviser David Axelrod coming to car meetings armed with poll data to support the takeover and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel identify Congressmen in whose districts large Chrysler facilities were located.

Sarah Palin's Book a Bestseller Before Release

Sarah Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life," is already at the top of both both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. The November 17 release date was announced Monday.

Two days after the release date of Sarah Palin’s book was announced, it's already become the top seller at both Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.....

"This book has taken off like a rocket," the source said.
