Payback: Carbonite CEO admits dropping Limbaugh during Sandra Fluke controversy hurt sales growth

Rush Limbaugh's comments on the Sandra Fluke controversy caused Carbonite to join the boycott and suddenly drop sponsorship of Rush Limbaugh's radio show. The first full quarter results after the boycott are now in and it's not good. Carbonite failed to meet Wall Street's expectation and their stock price dropped 15% in one day!

Via Legal Insurrection:

(3:10) CEO Friend: ”There were four factor that contributed to this slower growth.  First, in March we stopped working with one of our top producing radio endorsers.  While we recently contracted with three new radio personalities, it takes 3-6 months to ramp up new radio hosts so we probably won’t see the full effect of this for another quarter or two.”
(24:15) Q: “I guess I’m a little surprised that you were caught by surprise by the radio host change ’cause I know we’ve talked and I guess my impression was that it wouldn’t be that impactful but I guess it was quite impactful.
CEO Friend: “Yeah, I’d say it turned out to be a bigger issue than we had anticipated.  Because you know at the time there was a lot of noise, I mean we had a huge spike in web traffic around that time just because of all the interest in the whole subject. And it took close to a month for that to sort of die down.  And meanwhile our metrics were, we really couldn’t see what was going because there was so much noise around the website that we had no idea what the ultimate impact was going to be.  It turned out to be a bigger hole in our revenue than we had thought when we initially did this.  However, I don’t think there was any, I’m not regretful of the decision, I think things would have been worse had we not done that.

Rush and GOP Congressman targeted by illegal robo-call (video)

Via Bretibart:
“Hello, this is a message from Women of the 99%. Congressman Jim Renacci is condoning the war on women led by Rush Limbaugh, who has become the de facto leader of the Republican party. Call Congressman Renacci at 330-xxx-xxxx and ask him why he remains silent while Republican spokesman Rush Limbaugh insults, degrades, and verbally abuses women. Tell Congressman Renacci that it’s just plain shameful that he that he allows Rush Limbaugh’s behavior to continue. We are the Women of the 99% and we won’t be silent anymore. “

The call is illegal because the responsible group identified on the calls as “Women of the 99%” is not a registered PAC or lobbying group, and no return call phone number is given.

Priceless: Rush Limbaugh tells advertiser with 'sellers remorse' to take a hike

Sleep train pulled their ads from Rush Limbaugh's show after the Sandra Fluke hoopla. They quickly realized their mistake and attempted to reunite with Limbaugh. He politely told them to take a hike.
Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertiser’s apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.

The company, Sleep Train, calls itself “the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.”

In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the company’s request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy.

“Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show,” the email begins. “Rush received your requests personally.”

“Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

Rush called Sandra Fluke the wrong name. He should have called her a 'drama queen'

Rush Limbaugh apologized for calling law student Sandra Fluke a sl*t. His comments on her were over the top. However, Sandra Fluke's House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee testimony last month was full of hyperbole, if not downright disingenuous. It was designed to fan the flames of the birth control insurance mandate versus religious freedom debate. During the testimony, Fluke claimed it can cost a law student $3,000 over three years for birth control. A little research found she could have went to a Target store only 3 miles from the law school and got birth control pills for only $9 a month. This plan is available to people who do not have insurance plans covering contraceptives. Additionally, she enrolled in a Catholic University. Surely a law student as smart as her knew going in the insurance wasn't going to pay for birth control.
(CNSNews.com) – Although Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke testified to the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee last month that contraception can cost a law student $3,000 over three years and that some of her fellow students could not afford it, a Target store only 3 miles from the law school currently sells a month’s supply of birth control pills for only $9 to people who do not have insurance plans covering contraceptives.
That would make the total cost for birth control pills for a student who decided to use them for all three years of law school just $324.
Fluke was the sole witness who appeared on Feb. 23 before an all-Democratic panel chaired by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Rush Limbaugh Defends Rick Perry Against Vitriolic Attacks by GOP Opponents (video)

Rush Limbaugh defended Gov. Rick Perry after the pile-on at the last GOP debate. Limbaugh called the attacks on Perry's Social Security comments and executive order for a cancer vaccine,
 "...a giant distraction."

This GOP primary election should be about running the most conservative candidate against Obama who has a reasonable chance to win. I like Bachmann and Cain. They have good conservative credentials, but it is hard to imagine them winning against Obama and his billion dollar campaign. Ron Paul has views that even many Republicans consider extremist. Huntsman is practically a Democrat. Romney, Sanatorum and Gingrich are viewed as mainstream Republican insiders. That leaves Texas Gov. Rick Perry. He has some positions Conservatives disagree with, but seems acceptable to most Conservatives and the Tea Party branch of the GOP. If Romney would do a complete Mea culpa on Romneycare, he might be more acceptable to Conservatives, but he insists on defending it. If the economy goes completely into a double-dip recession, anyone but Paul could possibly beat Obama. As patriots, we have to hope the economy doesn't do that.

Rush Limbaugh on "Bulging Underpants" Weiner: "We want this guy as the poster boy of the Democrat culture of erection..."

Rush Limbaugh is hoping Demo Rep. Anthony "Bulging Underpants" Weiner hangs around for 2012.
PALM BEACH, Fla. – While there have been calls for U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner to quit Congress for tweeting lewd photographs of his private parts to a woman online, America's top-rated radio host is urging the New York Democrat to "stand firm."

"I hope Anthony Weiner never resigns. I hope Weiner is never forced to resign," Rush Limbaugh said this afternoon. "We want Weiner there. We want this guy as the poster boy of the Democrat culture of erection and corruption."

Limbaugh's hard line in favor of keeping Weiner in Congress goes against the likes of House Republican Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, who became the first top lawmaker to call for Weiner's departure.

Rush Limbaugh: “The Koran Gets Burned All The Time When Muslims Blow Each Other Up In Their Mosques”

Rush Limbaugh makes an interesting point.

From the video:
“These protests are now entering their fourth day. Never mind that nobody even knew about the burning of the Koran – it happened more than two weeks ago – until these devout Muslims brought it up. Never mind that the Koran gets burned all the time when Muslims blow each other up in their mosques. And never mind that the US burned Bibles in Afghanistan back in 2009.”

Rush Limbaugh Takes on Obama Birth Certificate Controversy

Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One

Will he be labeled a "birther".
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: I've been sitting on this story all week, purposely, just to see where it would go. And it has grown. This governor out in Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, a well-known socialist, by the way, longtime member of Congress, now the governor of Hawaii, really stepped in it earlier, well, I think it was not even this week, it was last week. The governor, Neil Abercrombie, some time ago said, (paraphrasing) "Look, I was there when Obama was born in Hawaii. That birth certificate, it exists. Everybody knows it. I was there when that kid was born." Turns out he wasn't there, and he admitted he wasn't there. He was there in spirit. He was trying to say he's that certain. See, he thinks that Obama ought to just get this off the table. Abercrombie is worried that this birth certificate thing is going to be a lingering problem heading into 2012. So Abercrombie, big friend of Obama, tried to step in there and head this off at the pass. It turns out he can't find the birth certificate, the governor of Hawaii cannot find it. It's just a notation that somebody wrote down.

This has now made its way to the UK Daily Mail: "Hawaii Governor Claims Record of Obama's Birth 'Exists in Archives' but Can't Produce the Vital Document." That's the headline. The story originated at World Net Daily in this country earlier, and of course if it originates anywhere outside the mainstream press, the mainstream press will not acknowledge it. "Pressure was mounting on Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie today amid increasing confusion over whether President Obama was born there." This is the UK Daily Mail. "Abercrombie said on Tuesday that an investigation had unearthed papers proving Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. He told Honolulu's Star-Advertiser: 'It actually exists in the archives, written down,' he said. But it became apparent that what had been discovered was an unspecified listing or notation of Obama's birth that someone had made in the state archives and not a birth certificate. And in the same interview Abercrombie suggested that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health. He said efforts were still being made to track down definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii. Read more here.

Liberal Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blames Rush Limbaugh, but may have ignored death threats

Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One
Liberal Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blames Rush Limbaugh, but may have ignored death threats.
Jan 8 (Reuters) - The suspect in Saturday's shooting rampage in which a U.S. congresswoman was critically wounded was unstable and had been known to make death threats in the past, the local sheriff said.
According to this report, there were a lot of death threats and Sheriff Clarence Dupnik mostly ignored them.
Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County.
This information needs more confirmation.

Al Sharpton want to make sure Rush doesn't offend anyone (video)

The way Rev. Al Sharpton wants to do this is by having the FCC shutdown anyone he deems offensive. Of course, Rush Limbaugh is at the top of that list. If I were making a list, Sharpton would be near the top, but I don't support censorship of ideas and opinions.

RINO Castle Blames Hannity, Limbaugh For His Loss (video)

Actually, it was his liberal voting record that doomed Rep. Mike Castle. Instead of admitting the truth, Castle is blaming the messengers for informing the electorate.

From the video:
“I think the misrepresentations and the lies of Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh on the air were another very significant part of all of this. I think some of the misrepresentations in my opponent’s race were a part of it as well.”

Rush Limbaugh: Obama is “first anti-American President” (audio)

Rush Limbaugh called President Obama the “first anti-American President.” Of course, he is stating what has become obvious to a large number of Americans. The rest aren't paying attention. Limbaugh also makes the analogy of building a Walmart next to Ground Zero and the uproar the left would make in reaction to that.

How did America end up with an anti-American President?
