Nancy Pelosi: Losing Weiner's Seat a "Good Day" for Democrats or Something

Deranged...
(CNS News) — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said on Wednesday that the Democrats’ loss of the special election in New York’s 9th Congressional District — which was formerly represented by Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner — was actually a “good day” because it made Democrats realize they needed to intensify their efforts to prevail in next year’s elections.
“In terms of New York, yeah, that was a disappointment. We would have preferred to win,” said Pelosi.
It was a good day because it was something where other people realize we have to buckle down in order to win this,” she said.

Shock Poll: GOP tied in race to fill Weiner's old House seat

I think winning this seat is a bit of a reach for Republicans, but the fact it is close doesn't bode well for Obama in 2012. Republican candidate Bob Turner has turned the Democratic-leaning district in Queens and Brooklyn into a battleground by making the special election as a referendum on the administration and Obama's anti-Israeli views. The republican commissioned poll shows the race tied at42% each.

(Roll Call)- A new Republican-commissioned poll showed the race to replace ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) in New York’s 9th district to be a dead heat.

A McLaughlin & Associates poll of 300 likely voters found 42 percent would vote for state Assemblyman David Weprin (D) while 42 percent said they would vote for retired businessman Bob Turner (R).

Sixteen percent of those polled said they were undecided with less than two weeks to go before the Sept. 13 special election. The poll was conducted for Turner's campaign.

Priceless: Democrat Running For Weiner's Seat Refuses To Endorse Obama's Reelection

State Assemblyman David Weprin says he will tell his position on Obama after his election. it looks like Queens is about to get another weener for a representitive.
The Democratic candidate seeking to fill the congressional seat vacated by randy ex-Rep Anthony Weiner distanced himself from President Obama today — by refusing to say whether he backed the president’s re-election.

“I’m running myself right now. On Sept. 14, I’ll be happy to address the president’s election,” State Assemblyman David Weprin said following a press conference at Queens Borough Hall, where he was endorsed by a bevy of female elected leaders.

The special election to replace Weiner — who resigned in disgrace following a sexting scandal — will be held on Sept. 13.

“Don’t read anything into it,” Weprin insisted of his refusal to give fellow Democrat Obama a thumbs up.

Bob Turner, who challenged Weiner last year, is the Republican candidate.

Shocker: Ill. GOP Senator-elect Mark Kirk seating delayed by "paperwork" delays

Joe Manchin and Chris Coons will take office on the first day of the lame duck Senate session. Of course they are Democrats. The corrupt democratic political machine in Illinois seems to be having trouble processing Republican Mark Kirk's paperwork.

The Washington Examiner reported:
Senator-elect Mark Kirk, R-Ill., is one of three senators elected Nov. 2 to fill seats vacated by individuals who joined the Obama administration. Illinois law requires that Kirk assume his office immediately following the election, but unnamed state officials say Kirk can't be sworn in until Nov. 29 due to "paperwork" delays.

If Major Garrett is correct, and he should be, this would put FOX News in their rightful place. Blagovich Aide: Obama Knew About Senate Seat Deal

A top aide to Blagojevich has testified Obama knew about the deal to trade a senate seat for a job in the administration.

The Sun Times reported:
John Harris, Blagojevich’s former chief of staff, testified Wednesday in the former governor’s corruption trial that three days after the Nov. 4, 2008, presidential election, the ex-governor told Harris he felt confident Obama knew he wanted to swap perks...

Republicans Win Obama's Hawaii Home District! The Momentum Builds!

Can anyone say momentum? The GOP has captured President Obama youth home district in a House special election. This seat had been held by democrats for over 20 years.
Republicans scored a midterm election victory Saturday when Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou won a Democratic-held House seat in Hawaii in the district where President Obama grew up -- the latest triumph for the GOP as it looks to take back control of Congress...

Djou received 67,274 votes, or 39.5 percent. He was trailed by state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, a Democrat who received 52,445 votes, or 30.8 percent. The other leading Democrat, former U.S. Rep. Ed Case, received 47,012 votes, or 27.6 percent.

Republican Tim Burns In "Dead Heat" To Capture Murtha's House Seat

The Real Clear Politics poll average has Republican Tim burns up by 0.3% points over Democrat Mark Critz in the special election for deceased Rep. John Murtha's House seat. Burns received some last minute campaign help from new GOP Senator Scott Brown (see picture). The latest poll by PPP has Burns up by one. PPP is considered a democratic polling agency.
The special election to replace John Murtha looks to be headed for a photo finish, with Republican Tim Burns leading Democrat Mark Critz 48-47 in PPP's final poll of the race.

Democrats Fear Losing Murtha Seat

Democrats are in such fear of losing deceased Congressman John (Jack) Murtha's seat, they are supporting an alleged pro-life, pro-gun Democrat.
A loss would unnerve Democrats, who face the backlash against the party in power typical for a midterm election year, and depress the outlook for the party's other candidates in Pennsylvania, which Barack Obama won easily in 2008.

Obama May Throw His Old Senate Seat Under the Bus

President Obama is refusing to go to bat to try save his old Senate seat from falling into Republican hands. In spite of the fact the Democrat in the race, Alexi Giannoulias, is an old Obama basketball buddy, President Obama is unwilling to lay his prestige on the line. The Giannoulias family bank was seized last week; leaving a cloud hanging over the candidate. The Republican in the race is Rep. Mark Kirk. Kirk is leading in recent polling. (see above image from RealClearPolitics)

The Politico reported:
At the moment, the White House seems open to the idea of losing Obama’s old seat rather than putting the president’s prestige on the line for Giannoulias, the brash and boyish Illinois state treasurer — and onetime Obama basketball buddy — whose campaign has been rocked by the financial meltdown of his family’s bank.

Durbin said Emanuel was sympathetic to his pleas but ultimately noncommittal...

Emanuel, a former congressman from Chicago, tried but failed last year to get Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan into the race. Now, he told Durbin, it’s up to Giannoulias to prove his campaign has enough “viability and strength” to warrant Obama’s involvement.

Obama Played a Big Role in Selecting Blagojevich's Replacement

Ron Blagojevich is being prosecuted for allegedly selling his Senate seat. He claims he is innocent and wants to force President Obama to testify. President Obama claims he had no contact with Blagojevich's office during this time, but records but censored court records released by Mediaite indicate Obama was not only involved, but actually seemed to be trying to control the process. Could this implicate Obama in a crime?

From Mediaite:

These pieces of alleged evidence mostly serve to highlight the level of involvement the President had in the negotiations. He was, according to these conversations, overseeing all the talks and very invested in giving the seat to Senate candidate B (identified in the original federal complaint at IL Attorney General Lisa Madigan, though whether the defense is using the same identification numbers that the federal complaint used is unclear). In fact, if his “Supporter” “offered ‘fundraising’ in exchange for Senate Candidate B,” it would follow that it wasn’t Blagojevich who tried to sell the seat, but the unidentified supporter who tried to buy it.

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) Won't Seek Re-election

Another Kennedy seat is up for grabs. This time it is Patrick Kennedy's seat representing Rhode Island in the U.S. Congress.

Democrats Recruit Lefty Ed Schultz to Run for Dorgan's Soon-to-be Vacant Senate Seat

Well, if a joke like Al Franken can be a senator, who can't? Democrats are reportedly recruiting far lefty talker Ed Schultz to run for Dorgan's soon-to-be vacant Senate Seat.

Could it be true? Republicans could win Obama and Biden Senate seats?

Winning both Barack Obama's and Joe Biden's Senate seats would be a Republican dream come true. Is it possible? Both seats are up for grabs in 2010 and the races are now either tied or leaning Republican.

The Washington Times reported:
President Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. won't be on the midterm ballot next year, but their former Senate seats will be, and both races are now either tossups or leaning Republican in high-visibility contests.

Meet The Republican Who Wants Ted Kennedy's Senate Seat

Republican Senatorial candidate Scott Brown would be an extremely strong candidate in any state but Massachusetts. Even in Massachusetts, he may have a chance. His liberal opponents are busy fighting each other each other in a primary. Meanwhile, Scott Brown is running a solid campaign.

Here is an analysis from RedState:
While the Democrats are embroiled in a heated primary, Republican candidate Scott Brown is quietly running a solid campaign. In most states, Brown would be crushing his fumbling liberal opponents. But this is Massachusetts.

However, Democratic enthusiasm is in the dumps, while Republican enthusiasm is up. And there is a wild card. The election is being held in January, when many “snowbirds”, retirees with winter homes elsewhere, are gone; many college students are away on break; and the winter weather is too nasty for much of the lazy liberal base to get out and vote.

Many believe Scott Brown would be a solid vote against Obamacare and Cap and Trade. Let's hope for a January 19th miracle. A Republican victory would be fitting justice for the dirty trick Massachusetts' Democrats used to temporary appoint a Democratic to Massachusetts' vacant seat as Kennedy's dying wish.

Did ACORN Help Franken Steal His Senate Seat?

Many people think Al Franken stole his Senate seat. Franken won by the razor thin margin of 312 votes out of about 3 million cast. ACORN claims to have registered 43,000 new voters in Minnesota. With ACORN's record, it is hard to say how many of those are legitimate. Many of these "newly registered voters" may have voted illegally. Minnesota's laws on proof of voter eligibility are notoriously loose.

From the Minnesota Star-Tribune:
But ACORN does have a special place in its heart for at least one prominent Minnesota politician. Last year, it showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN."

...ACORN's registration drives "routinely produce fraudulent registrations," ...
