Obama sans teleprompter: "I’m not going to not do anything without Congress"

Obama clearly benefited from affirmative action in college...

Via IJ Review:
OBAMA: Now, I’m hoping that Congress goes along with this, but I’m not going to wait for Congress. I could do more with Congress, but I’m not going to not do anything without Congress, not when it’s about the basic security and dignity of American workers.

Obama's TelePrompter thief faces a possible 7-year prison term

You don't mess with TOTUS!
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – A Richmond man has pleaded guilty to stealing a truck containing President Barack Obama’s audio equipment.
Eric Brown entered his plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Richmond. The 49-year-old Brown faces sentencing April 11 in a plea agreement that calls for a 7-year prison term.
A 2005 Ford van containing podiums, a teleprompter and other electronic equipment used by the president during public appearances was stolen from a Henrico County hotel parking lot in October 2011. The empty van owned by the Defense Information Systems Agency was recovered on the other side of town the next day

Bil Maher Tweet: "...Obama looks like he DOES need a teleprompter"

Barack Obama is very smooth with a teleprompter. It probably comes from his years soeaking from notes as a lecturer at Chicago College. Take away his teleprompter and it is a game-changer.

Tired of sticking his foot in his mouth, Obama brings TOTUS back to campaign trail...

Obama dumped his teleprompter while campaigning and got these results:
July 13: If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

July 24: Just like we’ve tried their plan, we tried our plan — and it worked.
Barack Obama really needs his teleprompter and now it is back.

Via Washington Examiner:
President Obama spoke to supporters in Florida this afternoon, but was careful to stick to his script, relying heavily on his teleprompters.

The president campaigned
without teleprompters last month, when he made his  controversial "you didn't build that" remark about business owners.

A campaign aide insisted last week that Obama's slip up wouldn't change the campaign's teleprompter strategy.

"The attempts by the Romney campaign to make this into their rallying cry haven't changed anything," said a senior campaign official to the Hill, adding that Obama "has done events without a teleprompter since then."

Pic of the Day: Obama Needs Teleprompter to remind Him to Say "God Bless America"

Well, he wouldn't want to get confused and say "Allah Bless America." Would he?

Yahoo News:

President Barack Obama's closing remarks are seen on a TelePrompTer following his visit to Conveyor Engineering and Manufacturing, Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Hilarious: Newt Gingrich offers to let Obama use teleprompter during debate

Well, that would make it more fair.

Via RCP:
“I already said that if he wants to use a teleprompter, then it would be fine with me. It has to be fair. If you [were] to defend ObamaCare, wouldn’t you want a teleprompter?” Gingrich asked.
Newt is the best debater of the GOP field. He would shred Obama in a debate.

Bad News: They recovered Obama's teleprompter

President Obama can continue his "not campaigning" bus tour.
First, the bad news: They recovered President Obama’s teleprompter.
So, anybody going to his speeches on the current Darth Vader armored bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia is still going to get the full 22-minute monty about how he’s there to listen.
The Real Good Talker’s top speech aide was in a truck stolen from a Richmond hotel parking lot early Monday morning and recovered in another hotel parking lot about 12 hours later.
The truck, actually belonging to the Defense Department that handles presidential communications, contained the “Now Say This” machine as well as nearly a quarter-million dollars in communications gear and the all-important presidential seal.

Heartache: President Obama's teleprompter stolen by thieves

Perhaps President Obama will take the Republicans up on their offer to tow his bus back to Washington if he returns to work on the economy.
HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – NBC12 has uncovered one of those stories that makes you think: "How in the world does that happen?!"  A truck filled with President Obama's podiums and audio equipment was stolen in Henrico just days before his visit to Chesterfield.

We confirmed an investigation with the U.S. Defense Department.  There are still a lot of questions.  The biggest one being did the thieves intentionally target the President's truck or did they take advantage of a crime of opportunity and give a big "uh-oh" when they saw what was inside.

When you see President Obama speak, there is a pretty typical setup including the presidential seal on a podium, the see-thru Teleprompter and a portable sound system.

Thieves saw the truck carrying that equipment and couldn't resist the target.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Obama's use of teleprompters during jobs speech: "It is a head dance, just a beautiful thing,"

What keeps Obama from getting dizzy and falling down?
(HuffPo)- Other lawmakers had an altogether different review of the president's speech. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) told reporters he was mesmerized by Obama's skill with teleprompters.

"It is a head dance, just a beautiful thing," Gohmert said, moving his head from side to side. "Back and forth, three to five seconds between the teleprompters. ... He is so good. I mean I don't need sound, I can just sit there and admire how good he is at going back and forth between those two teleprompters."

Queen Michelle is practicing with her own teleprompter

Some people can speak from the heart. Others can only parrot words off a teleprompter screen. Add Michelle Obama to the second category.
(Politico) — President Obama is well known for his comfortable use of the teleprompter. But for his wife, showing confidence in front of the text machine doesn’t come easily.
In a Newsweek profile published Sunday, the first lady’s staff members said the first lady will “spend hours and even days preparing for one appearance,” according to the article.
For major speeches, like a commencement address at West Point, Obama will edit drafts by hand, according to the magazine. “Staff will then drag a lectern into her office, where she will rehearse the speech with a teleprompter for days,” it said.
“She demands a lot of herself,” David Axelrod, President Obama’s former senior adviser, told the publication.

Walter Mondale Tells Obama to Ditch the "Idiot Boards"

Mondale is referring to President Obama's abuse of teleprompters.

The Politico
reported:
“He uses these idiot boards to read speeches in television, and I think he loses the connection that he needs emotionally with American voters,” Mondale said in an interview set to air this evening on CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, according to a transcript from the network.

“Idiot board” is a term used in television and movie production to refer to boards held up for performers to read off.

Video: Chris Matthews has a message for President Obama: "get rid of that damn teleprompter"

I never thought I would agree with Tingles on anything, but he is correct about President Obama's abuse of a teleprompter.

Matthews said,
“I really support the President on a lot of his views, in fact all of them almost, but I got to tell you something…if he doesn’t get rid of that damn teleprompter, it’s like an eye test. He’s just reading words now.” Matthews said Obama is “using the teleprompter instead of his heart and his mind.”

President Obama's Teleprompter Gets bashed on Hannity...strike that...Chris Matthews. (video)

Even liberals are starting to bash President Obama for excessive teleprompter use.

NewsBusters reported:
Gloria Borger this weekend ridiculed Barack Obama's dependence on his trusted teleprompter.

During the opening segment of the syndicated "Chris Matthews Show," the host was comparing the current White House resident to the late John F. Kennedy.

Obama goes off teleprompter and allows his socialist side to show

Barack Obama:
'I Do Think at Some Point You've Made Enough Money'

If we take President Obama at his word, there comes a point when companies and people have made enough money. Logically, it would then be moral in his eyes for the government to confiscate the rest of their earnings. President Obama went off teleprompter and allowed his socialist side to show.
