MLK, an opera singer and Eleanor Roosevelt to be put on $5 bill?

An opera singer? Seriously? Democrats pandering to women is getting stupid.

Via Washington Examiner:
Abraham Lincoln will not be the only person depicted on the $5 bill much longer.
The Treasury Department announced Wednesday that it will overhaul the design of the $5 note, a move overshadowed by its decision to revamp the back of the $10 bill to include women and to feature Harriet Tubman on the front of the $20.
Civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., famed opera singer Marian Anderson and first lady Eleanor Roosevelt will be depicted on the back of the updated $5 bill.
All three will be portrayed in historical moments in front of the Lincoln Memorial, which is currently pictured on the back of the bill. King will be shown delivering his 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech. Anderson will be shown performing in 1939, when concert halls were still segregated and she was banned from singing in Constitution Hall, supported by Roosevelt.
In redesigning the $5 bill, a previously unannounced step, the Treasury will disrupt Lincoln’s long-running tenure on both the front of the bill, in a portrait, and on the back, captured as a statue within the Lincoln Memorial. The basic layout of the note hadn’t changed since 1929.

Busted: How the rich and famous hide their money....

Secrets...

Via Daily Mail:
The biggest leak of financial data in history has revealed how 12 world leaders, the global rich and a host of celebrities are allegedly using offshore tax havens to hide their wealth.
The so-called Panama Papers, part of a leak of 11million files, implicate those in Russian president Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, along with families and associates of Egypt’s former president Hosni Mubarak, Libya’s former leader Muammar Gaddafi and Syria’s president Bashar al-Assad.
Lord Ashcroft, Baroness Pamela Sharples and former Tory MP Michael Mates are among the British politicians also named in the data release.
Documents were leaked from one of the world’s most secretive companies, Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, and show how the company has allegedly helped clients launder money, dodge sanctions and evade tax.
German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung obtained the files and shared with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists but the identity of the source who leaked them and how it was done is unknown.

Demo Rep. Steny Hoyer has a solution to Obamacare woes. It's more money...

It's not like money doesn't grow on trees or something.

Via Washington Examiner:
Rep. Steny Hoyer wants to give President Obama more money to help fix the costly federal health care exchanges that have been roiled by problems since they launched at the beginning of the month.
Asked Tuesday how Congress could help improve the system by which millions of Americans must buy insurance by the end of the year, the House minority whip and Maryland Democrat said, “We can give them a little money.”
“[Republicans have] been pretty much focused in the House of Representatives on undermining the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in every which way that we possibly could,” he said.
Hoyer admitted that he does not know whether the project, which has already cost more than $400 million, has faced funding problems. “I don’t think that’s the reason,” he said. “If I know that, I’ll blame it.”

Todd Akin already having money trouble?

Nobody saw this coming. Well, not Todd Akin anyway...

Via TPM:
Rep. Todd Akin’s effort to continue his bid for the Missouri Senate seat is now faced with a new challenge: Paying the campaign’s bills for TV ads on time.

The Akin campaign’s TV ad buy with the NBC affiliate in Columbia was canceled by the station, according to CBS radio in St. Louis. The campaign had paid the first half of the buy, but the station did not receive the other half. The TV station also said that it has confirmed that other stations have been put in the same position.

The Akin campaign told CBS radio that the payment problem was a scheduling mistake, and the next checks are on their way.

Where did an unemployed college student get $15,000 for an arsenal? (updated)

The cost of the guns, ammo and equipment that James Holmes accumulated for his deadly attack was as much as $15,000. Before starting his graduate studies, Holmes worked part-time at a McDonald's. How did he come up with that amount of cash? Was this deadly massacre financed by student loans? Did someone else give him money?
(CBS News) Sources say investigators have found key evidence in dumpsters and trash bins outside of James Holmes' apartment, including a shipping label from an internet ammunition store called BulkAmmo.com.
Investigators also tell CBS News they have recovered a surveillance video of James Holmes picking up approximately 150 pounds of ammunition at a Federal Express outlet in Colorado.

They've interviewed a UPS driver who says Holmes had 90 packages delivered to his workplace on the University of Colorado medical campus.

And sources say over the past several months, Holmes spent about $15,000 as he was putting together his deadly arsenal -- guns, chemicals, explosives, and ammunition.

Update: The University of Colorado says shooting suspect James Holmes had a federal grant to study neuroscience.

Obama's gay money bomb

One in six of Obama's big money bundlers are out as gay.
(WaPo) — President Obama’s announcement Wednesday that he supports same-sex marriage highlights the importance of the gay community to his re-election effort, which could get a boost in donations as a result.
Many of Obama’s key financial supporters are gay–including finance director Rufus Gifford and Democratic National Committee treasurer Andrew Tobias–and the campaign has regularly held fundraisers focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender donors.
A review of Obama’s top bundlers, who have brought in $500,000 or more for the campaign, shows that about one in six publicly identify themselves as gay. His overall list of bundlers also includes a number of gay couples who have wed in jurisdictions where same-sex marriage was legal.
“It’s a very important constituency,” said Los Angeles attorney Dana Perlman, a top Obama bundler who is helping organize a 700-person LGBT fundraiser for the president on June 6. “The community for the most part is wholeheartedly behind this man.”

Obama backers raked in eighty percent of the Department of Energy 'Green Money'

Surprise!

Via American Thinker:
Anyway, Obama was emphatic about how recovery money was to be spent.  But... as Schweizer says, the 1705 Loan Guarantee Program and the 1603 Grant Program funneled billions of dollars to alternative-fuel and green-power companies.  The loan guarantees and grants were earmarked for green energy projects, so it is not surprising to learn that these companies were run by liberals.  And guess what!  Eighty percent of the Department of Energy's (DOE) green loans, loan guarantees, and grants went to Obama backers. As Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise."

Schweizer wrote, "...a large proportion of the winners [companies receiving loans, loan guarantees, and grants] were companies with Obama-campaign connections.  At least 10 members of Obama's finance committee and more than a dozen of his campaign bundlers were big winners in getting your money.  At the same time, several politicians who supported Obama managed to strike gold by launching alternative-energy companies and obtaining grants."  How much?  Schweizer continues, "In the 1705 government-backed-loan program, $16.4 billion of the $20.5 billion in loans granted as of September 15 [2011] went to companies either run by or primarily owned by Obama financial backers."

Obama bypasses Congress and gives Palestinians another $147 million of your tax dollars

The Palestinians have no interest in making peace with Israel unless that peace includes Israel's destruction. Why are we giving them a dime? Don't we have better things to do with $147 million?
WASHINGTON, April 25 (UPI) — President Obama, citing the United States’ national security interests, Wednesday waived restrictions on funding for the Palestinian Authority.

In a memorandum sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Obama cited his authority under section 7040(b) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2012 section 7040(a) of the Act, to provide appropriated funds to the Palestinian Authority.

The president directed Clinton to inform Congress of his action.

State Department officials last month expressed concern the department had been unable to provide full funding to the Palestinian Authority for institution-building projects as the United States seeks to rejuvenate Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., had questioned the Obama administration’s request for $147 million for the Palestinian Authority at a time when P.A. President Mahmoud Abbas has demanded preconditions for returning to the negotiations while also pushing a unilateral statehouse plan at the United Nations. She also expressed concern that $26.4 million had been requested for projects in Hamas-run Gaza.

Liberal Heartache: OWS could run out of cash in weeks

Where is the Communist Party when Occupy Wall Street needs them?
NEW YORK (AP) — Occupy Wall Street in New York City could run out of cash in a matter of weeks.
A finance report shows the group that galvanized the nationwide movement against economic inequality six months ago had about $45,000 left in its main account. That’s for the week of March 2. Weekly donations plummeted to about $1,600.
The report on the group’s General Assembly website says at “the current rate of expenditure” the occupiers will be “out of money in THREE WEEKS.”
There was no immediate response to a request for comment emailed to Occupy on Friday night. But a former member of the group’s accounting arm cautions that the report doesn’t tell the full story.

Investigators searching for $1.2 billion in missing MF Global money should check Obama's campaign

Jon Corzine raised $500,000 for President Obama's campaign.
According to Barack Obama's 2012 campaign website, Jon Corzine of Hoboken, New Jersey raised at least $500,000 for the president's reelection effort. Here's the listing:

Corzine, of course, has most recently been in the news for being on the wrong side of a $6.3 billion bet as head of MF Global. "MF Global filed for bankruptcy on October 31, after $6.3 billion in risky bets on European sovereign debt spooked investors and an effort to sell the company failed," Reuters reported.

Unbelievable: Obama administration to throw another $25 million down the "green" hole

The upside of this story is the amount is only $25 million. Solyndra cost taxpayers a half a billion.
Pesident Obama's Department of Agriculture (USDA) called for applicants to receive the $25.4 million in funding flagged for rural green energy loan guarantees and grants, even as Obama's campaign released an ad defending the Solyndra loan.

"This funding will assist rural farmers, ranchers and business owners to build renewable energy projects, providing opportunities for new technologies, create green jobs and help America become more energy self-sufficient," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said today in a statement.

Good News: Occupy Wall Street is running out of money.

In another blow to the OWS movement, Nancy Pelosi is throwing them under the bus.
(WSJ) — Occupy Wall Street—the movement built on protesting corporate greed and income inequality—is running out of money.
After raising more than $700,000 last fall, protesters who keep track of money for Occupy Wall Street reported this week that the group has about $170,000 in its bank account. Very few donations are coming in, they said.
“If we keep spending at the rate at which we have been doing, we will probably go broke in a month,” said Haywood Carey, 28 years old, a member of the movement’s accounting group.
Occupy Wall Street voted to freeze all spending on new projects at a Saturday meeting of its main government body, the General Assembly, but will continue spending on basics such as housing at several churches, food, clothing and transportation.

Hypocrisy: Elizabeth Warren criticizes Scoot Brown's Wall Street connections, but takes some of the $40 million the DSCC got from Wall Street

Is every democrat a hypocrite?

Via Boston Herald:
I thought Elizabeth Warren was all about transparency.  We are all still waiting for her to file the required financial disclosure form.

The Oklahoma Professor has been criticizing Scott Brown for being “Wall Street’s favorite Senator.”  She has also denounced “Wall Street cash in politics.”

But it turns out she may be indirectly accepting Wall Street money.  The Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee, which is helping the Harvard Professor, has taken over $40 million from Wall Street during the last 7 years according to records from OpenSecrets.org...

Good News: MoveOn.org sends E-Mail suggesting that the activist group could go belly-up without more donations

Via Washington Whispers:
“Imagine if MoveOn disappeared?” That’s the warning in a shocking new E-mail from the left-leaning organizing group that has done so much since 1998 to elect Democratic candidates like President Obama.
Executive Director Justin Ruben suggests that the activist group could go belly-up if supporters don’t raise $400,000, and fast.
“Imagine if MoveOn disappeared and the work so many people do through MoveOn stopped happening altogether. Not to get technical, but it would be bad. To avoid that — to keep MoveOn going and growing — costs money, even though we keep our staff small and work from home to keep overhead low. Right now, to make ends meet, we need to raise $400,000 by the end of the year,” writes Ruben.
Even a shrunken MoveOn would be a blow to Democrats in the upcoming 2012 elections.

Meet the 1%

President Obama has raised more money this year from the financial and banking than all GOP candidates combined.
(WaPo) — Despite frosty relations with the titans of Wall Street, President Obama has still managed to raise far more money this year from the financial and banking sector than Mitt Romney or any other Republican presidential candidate, according to new fundraising data.

Obama’s key advantage over the GOP field is the ability to collect bigger checks because he raises money for both his own campaign committee and for the Democratic National Committee, which will aid in his reelection effort.

As a result, Obama has brought in more money from employees of banks, hedge funds and other financial service companies than all of the GOP candidates combined, according to a Washington Post analysis of contribution data. The numbers show that Obama retains a persistent reservoir of support among Democratic financiers who have backed him since he was an underdog presidential candidate four years ago.

Global Warming Scam: Follow The Money

Climategate: A Veteran Meteorologist Exposes the Global Warming Scam

If you ever wondered how so many politicians and alleged scientists could sign on for the anthropogenic global warming scam, just follow the money. The money started pouring into global warming research and technology during the early 1990's. Scientists are now getting hundreds of millions for research projects as long they push the global warming agenda along. Politicians are dumping money into global warming groups and projects. Then, they leave and take high paying jobs with the groups or companies their funding made possible.
(Washington Examiner)- George Soros — whom we’re always told is not serving his own economic interests at all by promoting liberal politicians and big-government policies — is launching a new investment fund that plans to profit off of the “green energy” boom, which is entirely dependent on government subsidies supported by the groups Soros funds....

The press release casually mentions whom Soros is hiring to run this new fund: Cathy Zoi. As Cadie Thompson at CNBC’s NetNet (edited by my brother John Carney), puts it, Zoi was Barack Obama’s “Acting Under Secretary for Energy and Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.” An Al Gore acolyte, Zoi was Obama’s point-woman on subsidizing green tech. Now she’s going to work for George Soros to profit off of subsidized green tech.

Florida Turns Down Obamacare Money

The Obamacare Disaster

Kudos to the state of Florida
(Politico)- No thanks. That’s what the state of Florida is saying to the Obama administration, declining a $1 million grant to implement the health law.
The move follows this week’s federal court decision declaring the law unconstitutional.
In a letter sent Tuesday and obtained by POLITICO, Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty informed the Department of Health & Human Services that the state no longer wanted a $1 million grant that they had applied for last year.
“The purpose of this letter is to inform you that after deliberate consideration, I hereby rescind acceptance of the above-referenced $1 million rate review grant, which occurred in a letter to you dated September 15, 2010,” McCarty wrote.

Democrat finds new loophole in campaign finance law

What do a Democrats do when they have $800,000 in campaign donations that can't be legally transferred to their new campaign? They find a new loophole in the law. You have heard of criminals using money laundering. Now, Democrats have invented campaign donation laundering.

The Boston Globe reported:
When he decided to run for Congress in the 10th District, Norfolk District Attorney William R. Keating had a state campaign account flush with more than $800,000, which under law could not be transferred directly to his federal campaign committee.

So Keating got creative. Since March, his state committee has refunded at least $370,000 to roughly 600 donors, including some who had given years ago, and urged them to turn around and write checks to his congressional account.

State and federal campaign regulators say there is no prohibition against the practice, as long as it is done within certain guidelines.
