Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) says when it comes to taxes, “we don’t have enough to do what the government – and do what the country needs the government to do and that’s the problem.”
The Georgia Democrat told WABE radio last week that, “If everyone is paying their fair share of taxes than we certainly should and can live within our means.”
“But our problem now is that taxes are being paid by the middle class. The rich, the wealthy and the corporations are not paying their fair share and so therefore we don’t have enough to do what the government and do what the country needs the government to do and that’s the problem.”

“Mr. Speaker, like a kid at a carnival, I rise in full support of HR 527, The Responsible Helium Administration and Stewardship Act of 2013.

Mr. Speaker, I’m relieved that and I’m sure that the American people are relieved as well that Congress is finally going to do something about one of the most pressing issues of the day, that is… we’ve got to ensure access to helium for all.

Surely those harmed by sequestration and those harmed by the Republican failure to appoint budget conferees appreciate the House spending two full legislative days on this most critical issue. The American people certainly understand the fact that 48 of this House’s precious time was necessary to pass such a non-controversial bill.

I’m pleased to support this bill which shows that this Tea Party congress will make the tough choice to keep children’s birthday parties on schedule and give industries that rely on helium the lift that they deserve.

Imagine, Mr. Speaker a world without balloons. How can we make sure that the injustice of there being no helium for comedians to get that high-pitched voice that we all hold near and dear to our hearts.

Imagine a world without balloons. Today the House has chosen to simply float above it all. And finally we are going to do something for the American people and we should all pat ourselves on the back for that.

Turns out, the language one uses in speeches on the House floor is no small matter. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) today apologized for using what he terms “the m-word” during a speech the previous evening.

What is this shocking term? Midget.

The Georgia Democrat used the word — offensive to some, who prefer the term “little people” to describe those with dwarfism, he noted today — in a metaphor about the Michigan labor situation in which he made a point about an unfair matchup. “What happens when you put a giant with a midget in a cage fight?” he asked rhetorically.
Today, he said he has since learned that the language is “no longer socially acceptable,” much like the “n-word.”

Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney plans to capsize Congressman Hank Johnson

The woman who thinks George Bush had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks is preparing to run on the Green Party ticket against the Congressman who is afraid the island of Guam will capsize.

(AJC)- Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is preparing to run for her old 4th Congressional district seat on the Green Party ticket.

McKinney was defeated by 4th district incumbent Hank Johnson in 2006 after serving six terms in Congress and has kept a low profile since returning to Atlanta from the San Francisco area where she moved in 2007.

Since February she has made a few public appearances in her old district but stayed low key with her plans. She filed paperwork April 2 with the Federal Elections Commission declaring her intention to run. 

Tracked down at her mother’s home Thursday by a reporter from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McKinney declined to comment and ordered the reporter off the property.

Last week she was recruiting volunteers to collect the 18,860 signatures of registered voters she’ll need by August 6 to get on the newly redrawn 4th district ballot, according the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.

Willard kept a straight face.

This may be the most unbelievable statement ever made by a Congressman. When talking about Rep. Joe Wilson's "You lie!" outburst during President Obama's health care speech before a joint session of Congress, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) said:

If I were a betting man, I would say that it instigated more racist sentiment, feeling that it's OK. You don't have to bury it now. You can bring it out and talk about it fully. So, I guess we will probably have folks putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside intimidating people. That's the logical conclusion if this kind of attitude is not rebuked.

How anyone with two brain cells to rub together could come to that "logical conclusion" is beyond understanding.
