Obama Sans Teleprompter: "The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries."

A gutsy college student asks a legitimate question of President Obama and he just dances around it with a bunch of rhetorical garbage. Obviously, President Obama left his teleprompter on the plane. At one point, Obama actually said:
"The Middle East is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries."

IPCC Forced to Retract Another Bogus Claim

This time it is the claim global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rain forest. The IPCC included this unscientific claim in their 2007 report. The basis for this bogus claim came from two WWF environmental activists. They got their information from a Nature article that is unrelated to global warming. The article was about logging and burning destroying rain Forrest.

Times Online reported:
A STARTLING report by the United Nations climate watchdog that global warming might wipe out 40% of the Amazon rainforest was based on an unsubstantiated claim by green campaigners who had little scientific expertise...

Obama Wants to Spend $3.8 Trillion of Your Money Next Fiscal Year

President Obama wants increase funding bailouts to cash strapped states. This will make taxpayers in fiscally responsible states wonder why they have to help cover the deficits for states with large social welfare networks. Obama is also increasing the Energy Department budget. Apparently, he hasn't seen this survey showing global warming is very low on voters priority list.

FOX News reported:
President Obama is expected to send a $3.8 trillion budget to Congress on Monday for the coming fiscal year, according to The New York Times.

Obama's budget would increase financing for education and for civilian research programs by 6 percent and provide cash-strapped states $25 billion, the newspaper reported.

Obama Admission: Democrats "Snuck in" Provisions That Violate His Pledges

President Obama accused democrats of sneaking in provisions to health care reform that would allow bureaucrats to come between people and their doctors. He called these provisions stray cats and dogs. If he had followed through on his promise to put all the hearings and negotiations on CSPAN, those stray cats and dogs probably wouldn't be in the bill.

Voters Don't Believe Obama

In the 2010 State of the Union address, President Obama claimed he cut taxes for 95% of Americans, created 2 million new jobs and turned around the economy. Voters don't believe him. Only 27% of voters believe Obama has created 2 million new jobs. They are very skeptical of his other claims too.

Rasmussen reported:
The president in the speech declared that his administration has cut taxes for 95% of Americans. He even chided Republicans for not applauding on that point. However, just 21% of voters nationwide believe that taxes have been cut for 95% of Americans. Most (53%) say it has not happened, and 26% are not sure. Other polling shows that nearly half the nation’s voters expect their own taxes to go up during the Obama years.

Sen. Orrin Hatch Promises Outright War if Democrats Use Reconciliation to Pass Obamacare

Democrats are considering using the budget reconciliation process to pass Obamacare since they have lost their 60 vote super majority. Senator Orrin Hatch is making an ominous prediction if democrats use this 'dirty trick." Hatch said, “It is going to be outright war and it should be..."

SENATUS reported:
Hatch said Thursday that using reconciliation would be “one of the worst grabs for power in the history of the country” that would permanently impact relations between the two parties.

“It is going to be outright war and it should be, because it would be such an abuse of the reconciliation rules,” Hatch said. “If they abuse those rules it is going to lead to even more heated animosities between not just the two parties, but even between individual senators.”

Veteran Political Analyst Charlie Cook: Democrats in Danger of Losing House in 2010 and Senate in 2012

Charlie Cook thinks Democrats could lose the House in 2010 if they continue their downward spiral. He prefect Democrats will control only 52~54 Senate seats after the 2010 elections. In 2012 and 2014, the math makes it difficult for democrats to feel good about maintaining control of the Senate.
...But if Democrats stay on their current downward trajectory, their majority will be history. The retirements that are likely to result from almost any deterioration in the House Democrats' current situation would reduce their chances of maintaining control to 50-50.

Harry Reid is Trying to Buy His Re-election

Harry Reid plans to raise $25 million to buy his re-election to the Senate. He has already raised $15 million and spent over $2 million in the last quarter of 2009 trying to bolster his falling poll numbers. Reid may be wasting his donors money. A Rasmussen survey taken in January found him drawing only 36% of the vote in a match up against his likely opponents.

MSNBC reported:
The Senate leader, considered among the most vulnerable incumbents in the nation, has said he will raise $25 million for his campaign to win a fifth term in the Senate. He's raised $15 million so far and will need to raise nearly $1 million a month to hit that target.

Sen. Conrad's Support of Reconciliation for Obamacare Makes a Fool of His Impassioned 2001 Speech Against Using Reconciliation for HCR

Sen. Kent Conrad chairs the Senate Budget Committee that will have to start the reconciliation process if it is to be used to pass Obamacare. Reconciliation can not be used if he is not on board. Yesterday, he indicated he was open to using the reconciliation process to ram Obamacare down your throats. In the past, Sen. Kent Conrad has taken an unyielding and impassioned stance against using reconciliation for anything but deficit reduction. Ironically, he used health care reform as the example of what it would be wrong to use reconciliation to pass. The following video is from 4/2/01 when Sen. Kent Conrad went on a several minute rant on the Senate floor against the proposal to use reconciliation to pass health care reform back 1993 and 1994. He was referring to Bill Clinton's $138 billion health care proposal. Conrad said that was "not what the Founding Fathers intended for this body..." Conrad also said, "It is an absolute abuse to use reconciliation for any other purpose than deficit reduction."

Sen. Kent Conrad needs to explain what has changed now. Bill Clinton's $138 billion proposal is dwarfed by Senate democrats massive $871 billion over 10 years bill. Sen. Conrad is in danger of making a fool of himself.

Former Constitutional Law Professor Barack Obama Confuses Declaration of Independence With Constitution

Former constitutional law professor and now President Barack Obama doesn't know the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. During his State of the Union address, President Obama attributed "the notion that we are all created equal" to the Constitution. This is actually part of the Declaration of Independence. We have to wonder if Obama read his lectures at the University of Chicago Law School from a teleprompter.

Modern Conservative reported:
One would hope the President of the United States would know the difference between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. But in last night's State of the Union Address, President Obama said:
We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the promise enshrined in our Constitution: the notion that we are all created equal….

Um, wrong founding document, Mr. President...

Obama's State of the Union Was a Snoozer for Democrats

CBO: Stimulus to Cost Extra $75 billion Because It Failed to Save Jobs

The nonpartisan CBO has a new report on the stimulus. The bill will cost an extra $75 billion in unemployment benefits, food assistance payments and other expenses stemming from lost jobs that the stimulus bill was meant to save. The total stimulus cost will now be $862 billion.

FOX News reported:
The nonpartisan CBO report, published Tuesday, attributes the $75 billion increase to added unemployment-related costs. More Americans are receiving unemployment benefits for lost jobs that the stimulus bill was meant to save, the report says.

About $21 billion of the added costs stem from higher unemployment compensation payments, while the remainder of the increase comes from food assistance payments and interest payments from states on taxable government bonds, the Washington Times reported.

The Resurrection Of Obamacare

Pelosi thinks she can get the votes to pass ObamaCare — if the Senate uses reconciliation to make some changes.

Politico via Hot Air:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday floated the idea of a two-track plan for health care reform — with Congress pursuing easier-to-pass incremental changes now and comprehensive reform later.

“We believe that it’s possible to have comprehensive health care reform as we go forward, but at the same time, it can be on another track where some things can just be passed outside of that legislation, and we’ll be doing both,” Pelosi said in an interview with POLITICO…

“We have to get it done,” the speaker said. “What the process is doesn’t matter. The outcome is what is important, and what it means to working families in America.”

Obama Finally Finds a Program He Wants to Cut: Manned Space Exploration

An artist's concept image shows the Ares I crew launch vehicle on the launch pad at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The upper stage is the wide part of the rocket near the top. Credit: NASA/MSFC

President Obama will not fund The Constellation program in his next budget. The Ares I and Ares V launch vehicles will be canceled. There will not be any money for a new lunar lander either. This means our planned return to the moon has been indefinitely delayed. Also, we will have to depend on the Russians to give us a ride to the International Space Station for the indefinite future after shuttles are grounded at the end of 2010. President Obama certainly doesn't have John F. Kennedy's vision when it comes to advancing the exploration of space. Manned space flight has been the driving force for NASA for most of their history. When we can only go to the ISS occasionally if the Russians give us a ride, public enthusiasm for other NASA funding will surely wane. This is the beginning of a slow death for NASA and space exploration.

The LA Times reported:
NASA's plans to return astronauts to the moon are dead. So are the rockets being designed to take them there, if President Obama gets his way....

"We certainly don't need to go back to the moon," one administration official said.

The Narcissist-in-Chief mentioned himself 132 times in last week’s Ohio speech about jobs. He didn't completely forget about us. He mentioned taxpayers two times. We have to wonder how President Obama tears himself away from a mirror long enough to give a speech.

Bad Blood Between Democrats Grows

Democrats are naming and blaming in the latest round of rancor following the election of Scott Brown to the Massachusetts vacated by the death of Teddy Kennedy and the subsequent collapse of health care reform legislation. Nancy Pelosi is blaming President Obama, Harry Reid is blaming Rahm Emanuel, House democrats are blaming Harry Reid and the Senate. Popcorn anyone?

From Politico:
The anger is most palpable in the House, where Pelosi and her allies believe Obama’s reluctance to stake his political capital on health care reform in mid-2009 contributed to the near collapse of negotiations now....

On Tuesday, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told reporters the legislative process in the Senate is “broken” — prompting Reid to later quip: “I could give you a few comments on how I feel about the House.”

President Obama's Meaningless Budget Freeze Proposal

There has been much buzz about President Obama's proposed three year budget freeze on discretionary spending. The spending covered by President Obama's proposal is only 17% of the federal budget. It would only make a $15 billion reduction of next years $1.4 trillion projected deficit.

The WSJ reported:

To attack the $1.4 trillion deficit, the White House will propose limits on discretionary spending unrelated to the military, veterans, homeland security and international affairs, according to senior administration officials. Also untouched are big entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

Obama: "Big difference" between '10 and '94 is "me"

This Obama statement was relayed by retiring 'Blue Dog' democrat Rep. Marion Berry.

Via Politico:
Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.

“I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all,” Berry said. “They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’ We’re going to see how much difference that makes now.” [snip]

Rep. Marion Berry did not reveal when President Obama made that statement, but it demonstrates the depth of President Obama's arrogance. The election results from Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts indicate Obama is as clueless as he is arrogant.

President Obama is Out Of Touch With Public's Priorities

After passing "Porkulus," President Obama and Democrats have been focused on Health care reform and climate change legislation for most of the year. Next year they plan to add immigration reform to the mix. This doesn't match the public's priorities at all. According to a Pew Research Center survey, Americans top five priorities are economy, jobs, terrorism, Social Security and education. The Democrats top priorities seem to be health care reform, climate change legislation, immigration reform, bailing out unions and rewarding their supporters. Of the Democrats priorities, health care comes in at eighth, immigration reform is eighteenth and global warming is twenty-first. Bailing out unions and rewarding special interest groups didn't make the list. No wonder Democrats are fairing so poorly at the polls.

The PEW Research Center reported:

At the same time, the public has shifted the emphasis it assigns to two major policy issues: dealing with the nation’s energy problem and reducing the budget deficit. About half (49%) say that dealing with the nation’s energy problem should be a top priority, down from 60% a year ago. At the same time, there has been a modest rise in the percentage saying that reducing the budget deficit should be a top priority, from 53% to 60%.

Obama is Most Polarizing First First-Year President Ever

Barack Obama promised to bring a new tone to Washington. He has failed miserably on that promise. Never in recent memory has there been less bipartisanship or rancor between Republicans and Democrats. A new Gallop survey has found president Obama to be the most polarizing first-year President ever by a wide margin.

Gallop
reported:
PRINCETON, NJ -- The 65 percentage-point gap between Democrats' (88%) and Republicans' (23%) average job approval ratings for Barack Obama is easily the largest for any president in his first year in office, greatly exceeding the prior high of 52 points for Bill Clinton.

NBC's David Gregory Bashes Republicans As 'The Party of No'

President Obama and democrats have pursued a strategy of formulating legislation without any Republican input. Then, they brand republicans as 'The Party of No' when they won't support the very liberal legislation. The main lame stream media is helping democrats brand Republicans as the 'The Party of No.'

NewsBusters reported:
NBC's David Gregory on Sunday used his interview with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to bash Republicans.

After his largely friendly discussion with senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, the "Meet the Press" host abruptly changed his tone and manner with the very first question to McConnell, "Is there one Republican who will support any Democratic healthcare initiative?"

Another House Democrat Bites the Dust

The latest democrat to abandon ship is Rep. Marion Berry (D-AK). Rep. Berry is from a district John McCain won in 2008.

From the Washington Post:
Arkansas Rep. Marion Berry is expected to announce his retirement tomorrow morning, according to three sources briefed on the decision.

Berry will become the sixth Democrat in a competitive seat to leave in the last two months but the first to announce his retirement since the party's special election loss in Massachusetts last Tuesday.

Democrats will be quick to point out 14 Republicans have announced plans to retire. The difference is most of these republicans are from districts that are considered safe.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi Still in Denial About America's Rejection of Obamacare

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are reportedly huddling this weekend and trying to figure out how to finish the massive takeover of America's health care they have been working on for most of this year. NOAA Temperature Data Has Been Adjusted To Warmer Bias

By 1990, NOAA deleted 4500 of the 6000 temperature data stations they were using to create their temperature record. The number of US stations was down to a low of 136 as of 2007. This is a 90% reduction. An analysis of the deleted data sets compared to the ones NOAA kept indicates they created a +0.6°C warming in U.S. temperature history. NOAA kept the lower altitude data sets near the urban heat islands of cities.

From American Thinker:
Although satellite temperature measurements have been available since 1978, most global temperature analyses still rely on data captured from land-based thermometers, scattered more or less about the planet. It is that data which NOAA receives and disseminates – although not before performing some sleight-of-hand on it.

Smith has done much of the heavy lifting involved in analyzing the NOAA/GISS data and software, and he chronicles his often frustrating experiences at his fascinating website. There, detail-seekers will find plenty to satisfy, divided into easily-navigated sections -- some designed specifically for us “geeks,” but most readily approachable to readers of all technical strata.

Perhaps the key point discovered by Smith was that by 1990, NOAA had deleted from its datasets all but 1,500 of the 6,000 thermometers in service around the globe.

Now, 75% represents quite a drop in sampling population...

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of Americans Consider Campaign Donations to be a Protected Form of Free Speech

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans' broad views about corporate spending in elections generally accord with the Supreme Court's decision Thursday that abolished some decades-old restrictions on corporate political activity. Fifty-seven percent of Americans consider campaign donations to be a protected form of free speech, and 55% say corporate and union donations should be treated the same way under the law as donations from individuals are. At the same time, the majority think it is more important to limit campaign donations than to protect this free-speech right.

Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s down four points since Tuesday morning and matches the lowest level of overall approval yet recorded for this President. Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters now disapprove. The number of Democrats who approve has fallen from 84% on Tuesday morning to 78% today (see other recent demographic highlights).

SEIU Threatens Obama and Democrats For Failing to Pass Obamacare

Presidet Obama's favorite union, the SEIU, is threatening to not support democrats in national elections this year if they don't force Obamacare down America's throat.
Stern hinted that if House and Senate members don’t move forward with the Senate bill and some kind of fix, they could see union members spending more time on races for governor, perhaps at the expense of their reelection campaigns. “If something significant doesn’t happen in Congress, I hope the legislators appreciate that there are 37 governors races important to our members,” Stern said suggestively.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich: "People are going to start calling for the Fairness Doctrine to come back"

Liberal Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH)warned Bill O'Reilly the Fairness Doctrine may come back if liberal media keeps failing like Air America did this week.

DENNIS KUCINICH:
You know what? Be careful, Bill, about crowing about your success right now because people are going to start calling for the Fairness Doctrine to come back if they feel their point of view is not being adequately represented.

What Will the Senate Look Like After 2010?

Nate Silver is a poll analyst at site FiveThirtyEight. He is unquestionably a liberal, but many consider him an unbiased poll analyst. He is predicting the democrats will only control 53 or 54 seats after the 2010 election. According to his analysis, there is a slight chance Republicans could gain control.

...there's about a 6-7 percent chance that Republicans could actually take control of the Senate, and another 6 percent chance or so that they could wind up with a 50-50 split. On the other hand, there's still a 7-8 percent chance that the Democrats could regain their 60th seat if the national environment shifts back in their direction.

Chris Matthews Blast Grayson Over Reconciliation

Chris Matthews doesn't believe democrats can pass Obamacare by reconciliation and he lets Rep. Grayson have it. He accuses him of pandering to the netroots.
“You know you can’t do it. You’re pandering to the netroots right now. I know what you’re doing.”

Copenhagen Climate Change Deal In Tatters

The nonbinding Copenhagen Accord is rapidly falling apart as countries fail to meet the January 31 deadline to declare their emissions reduction targets. The chances of the US ever passing Cap and Tax legislation has been greatly diminished by the election of Scott Brown to the Senate.

FT reported:
The timetable to reach a global deal to tackle climate change lay in tatters on Wednesday after the United Nations waived the first deadline of the process laid out at last month’s fractious Copenhagen summit.

Nations agreed then to declare their emissions reduction targets by the end of this month. Developed countries would state their intended cuts by 2020: developing countries would outline how they would curb emissions growth.

But Yvo de Boer, the UN’s senior climate change official, admitted the deadline had in effect been shelved.

More Open Government From Obama

Obama To Mayors:
"I’m going to take some of your questions but first the cameras have to go so you can tell me the truth."

This sounds like a joke, but I was watching this speech on CNN and the camera feed was immediately cut after President Obama uttered those words.

Obama Criticizes SCOTUS Ruling On Campaign Finance, But Big Money Went to His Cronies

President Obama is concerned about special interest money in elections after after the Supreme Court ruling striking down much of McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform.

Statement from President Obama:
"With its ruling today, the Supreme Court has given a green light to a new stampede of special interest money in our politics. It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday

A screen shot form OpenSecrets.org shows President Obama's cronies Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Blanche Lincoln are the big recipients of special interest money.

Obamacare is deader that the dead parrot from Monty Python

Nancy Pelosi confesses she doesn't have the votes to pass the Senate version of Obamacare.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that the Senate will have to amend its version of a health-care reform bill before her chamber can pass it.

"I don't think it's possible to pass the Senate bill in the House," Pelosi told reporters after a morning meeting with her caucus. "I don't see the votes for it at this time."

Air America Goes Belly Up

Air America Media has ceased live programming and will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. This liberal talk radio network helped boost the careers of liberals Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, but they struggled financially. Americans didn't want to hear their loony liberal drivel. Goodbye and good riddance.
It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.

The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a "perfect storm" in the media industry generally. National and local advertising revenues have fallen drastically, causing many media companies nationwide to fold or seek bankruptcy protection. From large to small, recent bankruptcies like Citadel Broadcasting and closures like that of the industry's long-time trade publication Radio and Records have signaled that these are very difficult and rapidly changing times.

Air America blames this on the economy, not the message. Meanwhile, FOX News ratings are skyrocketing.

Obama Prepares to Retreat on Democrats Health Care Reform

Reality is beginning to set in on Democrats. Americans have rejected their bloated expensive takeover of sixth of the US economy. President Obama is hinting he will take something less. My guess is he will take anything that can be remotely called health care reform. This will allow him to declare victory and move on.

From the WSJ:
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama suggested he's open to Congress passing a scaled-back health-care bill, potentially sacrificing much of his signature policy initiative as chaos engulfed Capitol Hill Wednesday.

Senate democrats want to raise national debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion

They need to do this to allow President Obama to continue spending like a proverbial drunken sailor (apologies to drunken sailors everywhere.) This legislation will require 60 votes. Democrats need to ram it through befor Scott Brown gets seated. Otherwise, they may be forced to impose some fiscal responsibility on Congress and President Obama.

AP reported via Yahoo News:

The unpopular legislation is needed to allow the federal government to issue bonds to fund programs and prevent a first-time default on obligations. It promises to be a challenging debate for Democrats, who, as the party in power, hold the responsibility for passing the legislation.
