Sometime last year, Procter & Gamble Co. was throwing around some crazy ideas of creating a grocery aisle specifically for men, apparently a brand new breed of consumers walking around grocery stores.
The idea was to give the lonely male lost in a supermarket a fun shopping experience, putting everything a man's man would need in one place. And New York City's Westside Market has gone and done just that.
Called "The Man Aisle," the space stocks stereotypically male items like beer, cereal, soda, beef jerky, hot sauces, barbecue sauces, condoms, and oh, Chock Full o'Nuts coffee.
"People rarely cater to men in the supermarket," COO Ian Joskowitz told us over the phone. "So I thought let’s do something fun, get people talking, something guys would like. So we started discussion, and it’s funny because most of us came up with a very similar list."
This was, of course, spawned by a recent ESPN study showing that 31 percent of grocery shoppers are now men, in comparison to the 14 percent in 1985.

Obama wants to ban discrimination against the unemployed or something
(Huffington Post) — President Obama said during a Tuesday radio show that hiring discrimination against the jobless “makes absolutely no sense” and that he supports legislation to ban the practice.
Sybil Wilkes, a co-host of the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” asked the president about long-term unemployment and businesses that tell applicants, “If you’re unemployed, we don’t want to hear from you.”
Obama noted that the long-term unemployed have a tougher time landing jobs and said a stronger overall economy would make employers less choosy. “But we have seen instances in which employers are explicitly saying we don’t want to take a look at folks who’ve been unemployed,” the president said.

ABC and FOX issue "fat"-wa against plus size models
ABC and FOX are refusing to run a Lane Bryant ad featuring a full-figured model. ABC said there was too much cleavage. Of course, a plus size model should be expected to have more cleavage than an anorexic Victoria Secret model. FOX ran a similar Victoria Secret ad during an 'Idol' episode.
