Mother sues Board of Education after son arrested for4 wearing NRA t-shirt

Let's hope she wins and the school board is ousted at the next election. 

LOGAN, W.Va. – The mother of a West Virginia middle schooler who was suspended for wearing a National Rifle Association t-shirt to school is suing the Logan County Board of Education for allegedly violating her son’s constitutional rights.

Tanya Lardieri filed the lawsuit on behalf of her son, Jared Marcum, who was charged with disrupting the educational process and obstructing an officer in 2013 when he refused to turn his NRA t-shirt inside-out, the Charleston Gazette reports.
Those charges were later dismissed by a judge, but Marcum was forced to serve a one day suspension for his defiance.
“The shirt was an un-alarming olive green tee shirt bearing the NRA logo, which is the letters ‘NRA’ in black, the words ‘PROTECT YOUR RIGHT,’ an image of a hunting rifle and the officials NRA logo which has an eagle and two cross firearms,” according to the lawsuit cited by the Gazette.

The lawsuit names several school board members, the school district superintendent, as well as the principal, a teacher and staffers at Logan Middle School, according to the Logan Banner.

This group won 91 percent of Congressional races in which they endorsed a candidate

It was the NRA.

With all the numbers tallied, out of 251 races, NRA-backed candidates won in 229, over 91 percent of Congressional races in which they endorsed a candidate.
According to the Washington Examiner, NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam explained that the Second Amendment group was able to win at this level because individual NRA members were motivated to vote for freedom. He said: “Our members came out in droves and voted for their rights and their freedom. This was one of the most successful election cycles in a decade.”
He listed some of the higher profile wins as the defeat of Senators Kay Hagan (D-NC) and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), both of whom were replaced by NRA-endorsed candidates with an “A” rating on gun rights.
And while groups like Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety largely endorsed incumbents to pad their resume or piggy-backed on the NRA by endorsing the same candidate as the NRA in some races–Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) for instance–Arulanandam said the NRA threw its weight behind candidates in tough races when gun rights were on the line. One such race was in Virginia, where former pro-Second Amendment challenger Ed Gillespie (R) tried to unseat pro-gun control Senator Mark Warner (R-VA). Keep on reading...

Poll worker makes NRA instructor remove hat before voting...

If the hat had said UAW, would the same thing have happened?

While he was early voting on Friday, a Douglasville, Georgia man says he was asked to remove a hat he wears everywhere, one that reads “NRA Instructor,” because poll workers said it was too closely associated with the Republican party.
Bundy Cobb, who is certified by the National Rifle Association in firearms training, wears the hat in part to promote his business, True Aim Defense. But poll workers apparently saw it as something different.
“I went by the first two ladies, and they didn’t say anything. And then the next lady, she said ‘sir, you’re going to have to take off your hat,’” Cobb recalled in an interview with The Daily Caller.
“What are you talking about?” Cobb said he replied.
Cobb, who is a veteran, says he looked down the voting line and saw another man with a hat on. “What’s the difference between his hat and mine?” Cobb asked.
That’s when workers told him that his NRA hat was perceived as being associated with the GOP and that he couldn’t wear it near the voting booth.

Tens of thousands of attendees perused 500 booths where you could look at guns, buy guns, learn about guns, talk about guns and maybe weep about guns, along with plenty of training courses to prepare you for the day when society breaks down and you finally get the chance to use that arsenal to defend your home against marauding gangs of cannibals. [...]

In the time since, the NRA has become even more extreme, even more paranoid, even more ensconced in its self-reinforcing world in which guns are all that matter. There may be a few Republicans who now have the courage to stand up to them. But there are still plenty such as Perry, Cruz and Palin, who will troop to their convention and jump into their festering pool of anger and fear. They don’t seem to realize how it makes them smell.

Washington (CNN) – The National Rifle Association said Monday they saw a record number of attendees at their annual meeting in Houston last weekend with 86,228 attending, up almost 15,000 from last year’s annual meeting in St. Louis, according to the group’s spokesman Andrew Arulanandam.

The NRA had estimated 75,000 would attend.

Former President David Keene rounded out his two-year term as president of the NRA at the meeting. His replacement is former Alabama lawyer James “Jim” Porter, who officially assumes the position Monday as part of a formal rotation.

From the moment 13 News first broke this story on 13 News at 11 on Thursday, emails, Facebook posts and phone calls from people all across the country have been pouring in. Despite all of the attention, Jared Marcum and his family say they’re no closer to a resolution than they were when it all began.

Jared Marcum, an 8th grade student, was suspended, arrested and is now facing two charges after refusing to change his shirt. 

“People are saying that I did the right thing, that they’re proud,” Jared said. 

The 14-year-old student at Logan Middle School in Logan, West Virginia says the NRA shirt that sparked the controversy now symbolizes a fight that is just getting started. 

“What they’re doing is trying to take away my rights, my freedom of speech and my second amendment,” Jared said. 

“You can take the firearms out of the equation, what this about is fundamental rights,” Jared’s father Allen Lardieri said. 

Lardieri says his questions for the school district remain unanswered.

It is important to note; the school had no policy that prohibited a pro-NRA shirt.

Obama claims demo's background check bill failed because NRA told "untruths"

The NRA is too smart to be hoodwinked by this worthless piece of legislation. The bill was so pooly written, Obama and Holder would have interpreted it to mean something other than the RINO's who voted for it intended. 

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama held an emotional press conference in the Rose Garden this afternoon reacting to the failure of legislation to expand background checks on gun sales in the Senate. After being introduced by the father of a child killed at last year’s shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, Obama attributed the defeat of the bipartisan background check compromise to “untruths” about the bill spread by the National Rifle Association.

“The current leader of the nra used to support these background checks. So while this compromise didn’t contain everything I wanted or everything that these families wanted, it did represent progress. It represented moderation and common sense,” Obama said. “That’s why 90 percent of the American people supported it. But instead of supporting this compromise, the gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill.”

Obama said the NRA exaggerated the effect of the bill, which scared gun owners and mobilized them to oppose the legislation.
