Former top Homeland Security official: Student visa program is allowing dangerous enemies into the US

Wonderful...

Via Daily Mail:
The student visa program is allowing dangerous enemies into the US, a former top Homeland Security official claims.
Claude Arnold, retired special agent of Homeland Security Investigations, said that the program invites 1.2 million foreigners into the U.S. each year.
He told told FoxNews.com that most student visa recipients take advantage of America’s system of higher education and leave when their terms expire.
But every year approximately 58,000 overstay their visas and dropout of contact with authorities.
Tens of thousands of immigrants have fallen off the government’s radar and ‘it is only a matter of time before there is some horrible act, or some act of terrorism’, according to Arnold.

Obama administration wants schools to take it easy on misbehaving black and Hispanic students...

Teaching kids they can get away with things because of their race won't help them succeed in life.
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Obama administration is issuing new recommendations on classroom discipline that seek to end the apparent disparities in how students of different races are punished for violating school rules.
Civil rights advocates have long said that a “school-to-prison” pipeline stems from overly zealous school discipline policies targeting black and Hispanic students that bring them out of school and into the court system.
Attorney General Eric Holder said the problem often stems from well intentioned “zero-tolerance” policies that too often inject the criminal justice system into the resolution of problems. Zero tolerance policies, a tool that became popular in the 1990s, often spell out uniform and swift punishment for offenses such as truancy, smoking or carrying a weapon. Violators can lose classroom time or become saddled with a criminal record.
“Ordinary troublemaking can sometimes provoke responses that are overly severe, including out of school suspensions, expulsions and even referral to law enforcement and then you end up with kids that end up in police precincts instead of the principal’s office,” Holder said.

Guess who opposes tax breaks for corporations that give poor students scholarships?

Someone Has to Fail: The Zero-Sum Game of Public Schooling

Guess who opposes tax breaks for corporations that give poor students scholarships? It is teacher associations and teacher unions. In light of this revelation, this question must be asked, "Whose best interest do public school teachers and employees have in mind? Is it students or themselves?" I think you already know the answer to that question.
(WaPo)- But the Virginia Education Association, Virginia PTA, the Virginia Association of School Superintendents, the Virginia School Boards Association and the Legislative Black Caucus, except for Howell, were opposed, saying the state should restore public school funds before granting tax breaks to corporations to send children to private school. Muslim Foreign Exchange Student Sent Home After "Death to America" Threat

A Muslim student from Israel has been sent home after writing "Death to America" on a classroom board. He said it was a joke. Why aren't we laughing?

(nwfdailynews.com) When international exchange student Jawdat “J.D.” Kasab wrote “Death to America” on a board inside a Niceville High School classroom, he had no inkling of the havoc the phrase would cause.

It wasn’t a threat. It wasn’t a promise. It was just a joke, he said.

Jawdat, a Muslim, was sent back to his home in Israel on Friday evening after officials in the exchange program he was enrolled in told him he had been dismissed over the incident, which occurred about a month earlier.

Video: Latino students throw US flag to ground during confrontation at US flag banning high school

Many Americans were outraged when a Principal at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill in California sent five students home for wearing clothing featuring the US flag during Cinco de Mayo. The Principal was forced to apologize. Latino students staged an anti-American flag demonstration and shouted "We want respect." The video picks up from there. This is sad.

Obama: The Left Wing Student Radical

The New York Times finally did a little vetting of Barack Obama. They unearthed this gem of an article from his student days.

From The Corner:
Obama: Student Radical [Andy McCarthy]

During the campaign, I wrote a piece called "Why Won't Obama Talk About Columbia? — The years he won't discuss may explain the Ayers tie he keeps lying about." So now, nearly six months into the Obama presidency, the mainstream media has finally done a bit of the candidate background reporting it declined to do during the campaign — other than in Wasilla — and whaddya know? The New York Times unearthed a 1983 article called, "Breaking the War Mentality," that Columbia student Barack Obama wrote for a campus newspaper. The article shows that Obama dreaded American "militarism" and its "military-industrial interests," while effusing enthusiasm for the dangerously delusional nuclear-freeze movement.

Moreover, while indicating a preference for the political wisdom of reggae singer Peter Tosh over Ronald Reagan or Scoop Jackson, Obama bewailed the "narrow focus" of anti-militarism activists, worrying that they were targeting the "symptoms" rather than the real "disease," namely, America's underlying economic and political injustice:

Generally, the narrow focus of the [Nuclear] Freeze movement as well as academic discussions of first versus second strike capabilities, suit the military-industrial interests, as they continue adding to their billion dollar erector sets. When Peter Tosh sings that "everybody's asking for peace, but nobody's asking for justice," one is forced to wonder whether disarmament or arms control issues, severed from economic and political issues, might be another instance of focusing on the symptoms of a problem instead of the disease itself.

Student Obama summed up with near incoherent Lefty gobbledygook:

Indeed, the most pervasive malady of the collegiate system specifically, and the American experience generally, is that elaborate patterns of knowledge and theory have been disembodied from individual choices and government policy. What the members of ARA and SAM try to do is infuse what they have learned about the current situation, bring the words of that formidable roster on the face of Butler Library, names like Thoreau, Jefferson, and Whitman, to bear on the twisted logic of which we are today a part. By adding their energy and effort in order to enhance the possibility of a decent world, they may help deprive us of a spectacular experience — that of war. But then, there are some things we shouldn't have to live through in order to want to avoid the experience.

What? Could I get a lefty to translate that last paragraph for me? A PDF file of the full Obama article is here.

Conservative Bucknell University students have free speech right trampled (video)

Bucknell University students had a bake sale to protest affirmative action. They sold the goods for different prices based on race to make a point. When the Dean found out the protest wasn't in favor of affirmative action, he shut the event down on a technicality. Even though the students had the approved form filed three weeks in advance, the Dean put a stop to the sale because they were charging less than the $2 listed on the form.
