Actual Good News: Utah may bring back the firing squad for executions...

I believe firing squads are fast, effective and humane. Lethal injections have been botched lately. It's hard to botch a firing squad; assuming you use enough marksmen art a short range.

Via Fox News:
A hotly contested proposal that resurrects Utah’s use of firing squads to carry out executions narrowly passed a key vote Friday in the state’s Legislature after three missing lawmakers were summoned to break a tie vote…
Rep. Paul Ray, a Republican from Clearfield who is sponsoring the measure, said after the vote Friday that he thinks it will be just as close in the Senate, and he hasn’t started trying to press his case in that chamber…
Ray argues that a team of trained marksmen is faster and more humane than the drawn-out deaths that have occurred in botched lethal injections. His bill would call for a firing squad if Utah cannot get lethal injection drugs 30 days before an execution.
Critics say the firing squad is a gruesome relic of Utah’s Wild West past and would bring international condemnation upon the state. That criticism and excessive media attention was one of the reasons many lawmakers voted in 2004 to stop allowing condemned prisoners to choose death by firing squad.

Update: Jordan executes Sajida al-Rishawi

There is a little less evil in the world today.

Via CNN:
Jordan has executed Sajida al-Rishawi, the Iraqi would-be suicide bomber whose release ISIS had previously requested, and another prisoner, Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani told CNN.

Payback: Jordan to begin executing Islamic State jihadists Wednesday at dawn in retaliation for burning death of their pilot...

Ballsy...
(AFP) – Jordan will execute Wednesday an Iraqi would-be suicide bomber on death row and other jihadists after having vowed to avenge the murder of a Jordanian pilot by Islamic State jihadists, an official said.
“The sentence of death pending on… Iraqi Sajida al-Rishawi will be carried out at dawn,” the security official said on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Rishawi, the would-be bomber, was condemned to death for her participation in deadly attacks in Amman in 2005, and IS had offered to spare the life of the Jordanian fighter pilot, Lieutenant Maaz al-Kassasbeh, if she were released.
“The death sentence will be carried out on a group of jihadists, starting with Rishawi, as well as Iraqi Al-Qaeda operative Ziad Karbuli and others who attacked Jordan’s interests,” the security source said.
“Jordan’s response will be earth-shattering,” Information Minister Mohammed Momani said earlier on television, while the army and government vowed to avenge the pilot’s murder.

Guess who just executed 18 Palestinians...

It wasn't Israel. They are more civilized than that. It was Hamas!

Via Fox News:
Hamas carried out a deadly purge of suspected informants in Gaza, killing as many as 18 people suspected of providing information to the Israel Defense Forces as fighting flared anew following the collapse of Egyptian-brokered cease-fire talks.
Masked gunmen killed seven suspected informants for Israel near a Gaza City mosque as worshippers were ending midday prayers on Friday, according to a witness and Hamas media. Earlier in the day, Hamas killed 11 men by firing squad in Gaza City’s police headquarters, according to the Hamas-run Al Rai website.
Two of those killed were women, according to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, which called for an immediate halt to what it said were “extra-judicial executions.”
Hamas media portrayed the killings as the beginning of a new crackdown, under the rallying cry of “choking the necks of the collaborators.” The killings, which took place near the al-Omari Mosque in downtown Gaza, occurred a day after Israel killed three top Hamas military commanders in an airstrike on a house in southern Gaza.
A witness says masked gunmen lined up the seven men in a side street and opened fire on them. He spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for his own safety.

War Crimes: 30 Palestinians executed in Gaza...

Hey Jew haters, it wasn't Israel. It was Hamas.

Via Times of Israel:
Hamas has executed more than 30 suspected collaborators in the Gaza Strip over the past few days, a Palestinian news agency reported on Monday.
Unnamed Palestinian security sources in Gaza told Palestine Press News Agency that Hamas has managed to apprehend dozens of suspected spies in the northern neighborhood of Shejaiya — which saw heavy fighting with the IDF last week — and summarily executed them following a short investigation. The sources said that many of the suspects were caught with weapons, telephones, and SIM cards from the Israeli cell provider Orange.

Religion of Peace Alert: Saudis chop off man's head because he is a witch

Islam is stuck several centuries in the past...
(USA Today) — A Saudi man was beheaded today on charges of sorcery, witchcraft and owning talismans, Arab News reports, quoting the Saudi Interior Ministry.
Muree bin Ali Al-Asiri also admitted to “committing adultery with two women,” the ministry says, according to the Saudi Press Agency. He was executed in the southern Najran province.
The BBC reports that a Saudi woman was executed for committing sorcery and witchcraft in December, and a Sudanese man was executed in September, despite calls by Amnesty International for his release.
The BBC’s Arab affairs editor, Sebastian Usher, notes that Saudi Arabia’s powerful conservative religious leaders strongly back the harshest punishment for anyone suspected of acts of sorcery, including fortune-telling and faith-healing.

Obama WH Spent Three Days Trying to Save Cop Killer Troy Davis From Being Executed

President Obama reportedly took a break from raising campaign cash trying to create jobs in an attempt to save the life of convicted cop killer Troy Davis.
ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 2011 — President Obama candidly Friday took a little time to explain how he tried to save Troy Davis and why he did not say anything about his controversial execution, two sources told Redding News Review.
Obama’s White House spent “three days” looking at how it could legally get involved in the case on a federal level, one source said. The Obama administration even called the state of Georgia about getting involved and were told “No”.
“‘We looked at every possible avenue legally,’” the source reported Obama said. “‘There was not one there.’”
“‘It was a state case and I could not intervene because it wasn’t federal,’” another source reported Obama said.
The two sources told Redding News Review that Obama talked about Davis, during a private lunch meeting of about 10 select black broadcasters.

John Allen Muhammad Will Get The Needle Tuesday

The DC sniper mastermind, John Allen Muhammad, has lost his appeal to the Supreme Court for a stay of his execution. Muhammad will die by lethal injection for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in 2002. Muhammad is also implicated in several other shootings. The sniper attacks terrorized residents of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. in 2002.

From FOX News:
The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block Tuesday's scheduled execution of sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad.

The Court did not comment Monday on why it refused to consider his appeal.
Muhammad is scheduled to die by injection at a Virginia prison for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in October 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Don't holds your breath waiting for Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to grant clemency.
