Stupid: New Gun Control Law causes Washington St. museum to return guns to owners...

You can't make things this stupid up...

Via Daily Caller:
A museum in Lynden, Wash. has decided to return 11 World World II-era rifles to their owners because of a state law passed earlier this month that requires background checks on gun transfers.
The Lynden Pioneer Museum will comply with the law, Initiative 594, rather than fight it, The Bellingham Herald reports.
The museum’s exhibit, “Over the Beach: The WWII Pacific Theater,” had the 11 rifles on display along with photographs and journals from the era as well as military vehicles and radios.
It will continue until May 1, but without the guns.
“The museum will be returning these guns to their owners because as of Dec 4th, we would be in violation of the law if we had loaned firearms that had not undergone the background check procedure,” reads the museum’s website. “Nor would we be able to return those firearms unless the owners completed the back ground check procedure.”

Guess what city has the highest number of marital cheaters per capita

If you guessed Washington, you would be right for a second year in a row.  If our representatives and government official's spouses can't trust them, how can we? (The last sentence is a paraphrase from Ross Perot)
(CNSNews.com) For the second time in two years, Washington, D.C., has been ranked the number one city for cheaters.

According to AshleyMadison.com, a web site that bills itself as “the world’s leading married dating service for discreet encounters,” the nation’s capital was at the top of the list of America’s Least Faithful Cities with 34,157 sign-ups – more sign-ups per capita in 2012.[...]

The nation’s capital also has the highest percentage of married men over the age of 50 seeking affairs.

Our nation faces huge problems and voters vote for gridlock...

What in the world were 50% of the voters thinking?  Two billion campaign dollars have been spent and we are essentially in the same place we were before the election. What drove half the voters to do this to our country? Did they vote for their welfare checks and girlie parts? We needed a President who could work with both sides of the aisle and end the Washington gridlock and vitriol that has occurred for the last 4 years. Barack Obama has proven he isn't that man. Let the gridlock continue.
From illegal immigrants to defense contractors and millionaires to Medicaid patients, Americans had plenty riding on Tuesday’s outcome — but few were expecting the election to provide answers to the gridlock that has prevented Washington from tackling the big issues.

The agenda is extensive and seemingly growing longer every week: Another trillion-dollar deficit is looming in 2013, debt has topped $16 trillion, the immigration system is broken, the tax code needs an overhaul, gas prices and unemployment remain stubbornly high, a final decision on the Keystone pipeline lingers, Iran’s nuclear program looms ever larger, and al Qaeda may be resurgent in parts of the Middle East.

Some problems won’t even wait for Inauguration Day, Jan. 20.

The new year will usher in higher income taxes across the board as the George W. Bush-era tax cuts are due to expire Jan. 1.

One day later, the $110 billion in automatic spending “sequesters” set in motion by last year’s debt deal take effect, slashing equally from defense and domestic spending.

But an angry electorate begging for change did little to upset the balance of power in Washington, where gridlock has reigned and shows no signs of letting up.

SEIU Goons planning to "Occupy" congressional hearings or something

These were some of Obama's closest buddies before he became President. They are his purple army.
(CNSNews.com) — The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), whose political action committee made more than $27 million in independent expenditures to help elect Barack Obama president in 2008, is now organizing a Occupy movement encampment scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. next week.

“It’s time for the 99%-ers to be a visible, peaceful presence in Washington, DC,” says a notice for the event posted on the website of SEIU Local 1991.

“By day we’ll show up at Congressional hearings and K Street lobbyists’ offices, and by night we’ll crash in church auditoriums, union halls, and in tents around the Capitol,” says the notice. “Our goal is to remind Congress their job is to represent all Americans — not just the richest 1%.”

Obama admits he hasn't changed the culture in Washington

President Obama promised to change the culture in Washington if he was elected. That promised was tossed aside when President Obama realized he had control of both houses of Congress and a 60 vote super majority in the Senate. President Obama proceeded to ram his partisan stimulus bill, budget and Obamacare down Republicans and Americans throat without even a thin fig leaf of partisanship. When talking to Republicans about his stimulus bill, President Obama actually told them "Elections have consequences." President Obama should remember that in 2012. Of course, Republicans control the House now and the Democrat's 60 vote majority in the Senate is a distant memory, but President Obama still hasn't embraced the change in Washington culture he promised. Obama is now ignoring Congress and trying to rule by executive decree.
WASHINGTON (AP)President Barack Obama told financial supporters Monday that changing the culture of Washington is probably the biggest part of his agenda that remains unfinished but he would put his legislative record “up against any president in their first term.”
“The challenge we have right now is fixing our politics. Making sure that we’ve got the kind of politics and governance here in Washington which is responsive to the needs of the people, not the needs of special interests, that brings out the best in us and not the worst in us,” Obama said at a Washington, D.C., fundraiser.
“That is probably the biggest piece of business that remains unfinished. That’s probably the area where we’ve been most stymied over the last three years. My legislative record, our administrative record, I’ll put up against any president in their first term,”he said.
The president told donors that his administration has worked to reform Wall Street, end the war in Iraq and end the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which forbade gay soldiers from serving openly.
“But in terms of changing the culture of Washington, the fever has not broken yet. Not everyone has gotten the word yet that this is not how the American people want their government to operate,” Obama said.

Shock Poll: Washington Elites are Clueless

61 percent who think the nation is on the wrong track. 49% of Washington's elites think the nation is on the right track. That isn't the only issue they are clueless about.

As many of you have read, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 16, 2010, tens of thousands of conservative and Tea Party activists will be on the Hill as part of what they are dubbing a “Surge Against Obamacare.” Rick Scott, a multimillionaire investor and former hospital executive, is helping to lead the grassroots effort along with a number of other groups on the right like Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks. While many of you have met with outspoken activists in your districts in the past, we wanted to remind you of some of the best practices to review with your DC staff:

Record snowfall in Washington Buries Cap-and-Trade Legislation

Democratic Senators say Cap-and-Trade legislation is dead for 2010. There was little chance of it coming up this year due to the lack of support and desire to shift the priority to jobs and the economy. The recent record snowfall in Washington will make it more difficult to convince people climate change legislation is an emergency.

Democratic senators say a bill that was once a top priority for the party and for President Barack Obama cannot be dug up again during 2010.

9-12 Musical Tribute set to Music of "Convoy"

The Tea Party "Convoy" arrived in Washington yesterday. Daily Mail reported:
Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick" as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.

The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

People were chanting "enough, enough" and "We the People." Others yelled "You lie, you lie!" and "Pelosi has to go," referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

Video: Rep. Shea-Porter denies there are communists and socialists in Washington

At a town hall NH 1st District Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter denied that there are communists and socialists in Washington. I guess she hasn't met Castro loving Rep. Diane Watson (D-CA) or President Obama's green jobs czar Anthony Van Jones. Rep. Shea-Porter also denied there are 35 czars in Washington now. She refused to say how many czars Obama has. Rep. Shea-Porter must get all her information from President Obama's website. Here is a list of 44 potential czars.

Healthcare for everyone is expensive

Tight budgets and high costs are forcing the state of Washington to drive 30,000 to 40,000 off the popular but broke state-subsidized insurance program. Recently, they took the drastic step of actually verifying the income of recipients. Since that did not reduce the rolls enough, they are going to double the premiums and let higher costs drive people off the rolls.
Reported by The Seattle Times:
Premiums for Washington's Basic Health Plan will as much as double in January as part of a strategy to drive thousands of members off the popular but cash-strapped state-subsidized insurance program.

Ending weeks of deliberations, officials announced this morning that they will boost Basic Health's rates by an average of 70 percent as part of their effort to boot 30,000 to 40,000 working-class people off its rolls.

Officials rejected four other potential options on how to shrink the 100,000-member pool, including a lottery and ejecting members based on how long they'd been on the program.

Health Care Authority Administrator Steve Hill announces a plan to raise premiums for Washington's Basic Health Plan. Premiums for the state-subsidized insurance program will increase by 70 percent on average.
