ICE tries to explain why they let illegal immigrant who killed woman go...

Not near good enough...

Via Daily Caller:
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Sarah Saldana gave a baffling — and seemingly inaccurate — explanation during a Senate hearing on Tuesday for why federal immigration agents failed to detain an illegal alien who killed a 21-year-old Iowa woman in a drunken street race in Omaha in January.
ICE ignored a detainer request made by the Omaha police department last month for 19-year-old Eswin Mejia, Saldana said, because his victim, Sarah Root, had “not passed away” at the time the illegal alien drunk driver bailed out of jail.
That comment appears to be inaccurate since Root died hours after the Jan. 31 crash, in which Mejia was street racing with a .241 blood-alcohol level — three times the legal limit.
Mejia, a Honduran national, left jail on Feb. 5 after posting $5,000 bail. He is now on the run.

Surprise: Obama wants to divert money away from ICE

Working for ICE lately must be like being a Maytag repairman...

Via Politico:
The Department of Homeland Security will propose to Congress to direct $110 million away from Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s budget and reprogram it to other agencies within DHS like the Secret Service and DHS cyber operations, a source with access to information within ICE told The Daily Caller.
“The DHS justification is, ‘Well, ICE, you’re not using all of your budget, and, it’s coming from bed and deportation money, because you can’t arrest people and you can’t detain people. So it doesn’t makes sense that you’re not using your budget, so we are going to take it away from you and give it to other divisions of homeland security,’” the person said.

Actual Good News: Ice at Arctic and Antarctic poles "much more stable" than climate scientists once predicted

Al Gore hardest hit...

Via Express:
In fact, the poles are "much more stable" than climate scientists once predicted and could even be much thicker than previously thought.
For years, scientists have suggested that both poles are melting at an alarming rate because of warming temperatures - dangerously raising the Earth's sea levels while threatening the homes of Arctic and Antarctic animals.
But the uncertainty surrounding climate change and the polar ice caps reached a new level this month when research suggested the ice in the Antarctic is actually growing.
And there could even be evidence to suggest the polar bear population is not under threat.
Ted Maksym, an oceanographer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, conducted a study in which he sent an underwater robot into the depths of the Antarctic sea to measure the ice.
His results contradicted previous assumptions made by scientists and showed that the ice is actually much thicker than has been predicted over the last 20 years.[...]
The data from the European Space Agency CryoSat-2 satellite suggests that Arctic sea ice volumes in the autumn of 2014 were above the average set over the last five years, and sharply up on the lows recorded in 2011 and 2012.
According to this research, Arctic sea ice volumes in October and November this year averaged at 10,200 cubic kilometres. Keep on reading...

Antarctic sea ice cover hits record level...

The records only go back 35 years, but that covers much of the time we are supposed to have had a rapid warming from anthropogenic CO2.
Scientists say the extent of Antarctic sea ice cover is at its highest level since records began.
Satellite imagery reveals an area of about 20 million square kilometres covered by sea ice around the Antarctic continent.
Jan Lieser from the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) said the discovery was made two days ago.
"This is an area covered by sea ice which we've never seen from space before," he said.
"Thirty-five years ago the first satellites went up which were reliably telling us what area, two dimensional area, of sea ice was covered and we've never seen that before, that much area.

Arctic Ice recovers 29% in 2013

In all fairness, 2012 was a record low.

Via The Daily Mail:
A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 29 per cent.
The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.
Instead, days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores.
The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.
Some eminent scientists now believe the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century – a process that would expose computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming as dangerously misleading.

Global Cooling Alert: Arctic Ice increases 60% over the same time last year

In all fairness, last year Arctic Ice did retreat to a low level, but this is quite a rebound in Ice.
A chilly Arctic summer has left nearly a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 60 per cent.

The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.

Congressional testimony: ICE union chief Crane lays the smack-down on Gang of Eight immigration reform plan (Video)

Awesome...
“Never before have I seen such contempt for law enforcement officers as what I’ve seen from the Gang of Eight,”

The sad part is this guy is a union chief and likely voted for Obama...

Interesting: ICE union head gets ejected from presser for questioning Sen. Chuck Schumer

Ask Sen. Chuck Schumer no questions and he will tell you no lies...

Via Daily Caller:
Chris Crane, head of the immigration officers union, was pulled out of a Senate press conference today when he tried to question Sen. Chuck Schumer during the televised roll-out of the 844-page immigration rewrite.
While reporters asked questions, Schumer ignored three requests from Crane, who sought to question him about aspects of the far-reaching law, which promises to tighten enforcement of immigration laws at borders, airports and seaports.
“Will you take a question from law enforcement?” Crane asked, repeating the question twice before being removed.
Schumer ignored the question, and repeated his advocacy for the bill. Crane’s union represents agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) service.
Schumer and the other Senators have struggled to control the debate about the bill, which was released this week after months of closed-door drafting. Supporters are now trying to win Senate approval of the far-reaching bill by June.

Top border immigration agents explain how Obama thwarts immigration law for even violent illegals

Via Washington Times:
Senator Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, introduced two top border immigration agents on Thursday to talk about the lax enforcement directives they are given by the Department of Homeland Security and how illegal immigrants are cheating the system to get into United States even after multiple violent crimes have been committed.
“The Administration claims it has diligently enforced immigration law and that the border is ‘more secure than ever.’ But those on the front lines know this to be untrue. They see the violence, chaos and lawlessness. They have lost confidence in the leadership of their agencies…

As you will hear today, this administration has engaged in a sustained, relentless effort to undermine America’s immigration laws,” said Sessions.
Back in mid June, President Obama issued an executive order that halted the deportation of illegal immigrants that came to he United States as young children. The directive also gives these individuals, numbering about eight hundred thousand, the ability to work legally in the country as well.

How a lax immigration policy kills

The Obama administration is indirectly responsible for murder.
When burglar Kesler Dufrene became a twice-convicted felon in 2006, a Bradenton judge shipped him to prison for five years. And because of his convictions, an immigration judge ordered Dufrene deported to his native Haiti.

That never happened.

Instead, when Dufrene’s state prison term was up, Miami immigration authorities in October 2010 released him from custody. Two months later, North Miami police say, he slaughtered three people, including a 15-year-old girl in a murder case that remains as baffling today as it did the afternoon the bodies were discovered...

The episode is a black eye for U.S. authorities, who by law could not detain Dufrene indefinitely after the Obama administration ordered a temporary halt of deportations to the island nation. The deportations were halted because of the carnage wrought by Haiti’s January 2010 earthquake.

“Because of the moratorium on removals to Haiti in effect when Dufrene came into ICE custody, his removal to Haiti was not likely in the reasonably foreseeable future,” an Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman said in a statement Friday.

Shocking Deception: ICE Overstating Deportations By 24:1 Ratio

Our government just can't be trusted.
(The Corner)- This is remarkable. A just-released Syracuse University study indicates that the government is overstating its enforcement of the immigration laws by a staggering amount.

According to TRAC, Syracuse’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) has overstated the number of immigration law violators apprehended by a 5:1 ratio. And that’s the good news. Deportations were overstated by 24:1 and detentions by 34:1.

Obama's DHS cuts off Sheriff Joe's access to immigration status records

Team Obama really don't want immigration law enforced. i am surprised they didn't think of this tactic earlier.
(TPM)- The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement just cut off the Maricopa County’s Sheriff’s Office’s access to the Secure Communities program and terminated an agreement which lets them detain individuals in the country illegally after their initial arrest.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement that the decision was based on the Justice Department’s findings of discriminatory policing practices by MCSO and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

“Discrimination undermines law enforcement and erodes the public trust. DHS will not be a party to such practices,” Napolitano said. “Accordingly, and effective immediately, DHS is terminating MCSO’s 287(g) jail model agreement and is restricting the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office access to the Secure Communities program.”

The 287(g) jail model agreement is the program which allows officers to screen individuals they arrest for immigration status and put detainers on them once they have been booked into jail. The restrictions on Maricopa County’s Sheriff’s Office means that when the office sends data into the FBI after they book someone they wouldn’t get any data back about their immigration status back.

Whatever happened to the Arctic ice tipping point?

Do you remember the claims Arctic ice had reached a tipping point and would disappear in the near future?
Joey Comiso reports that this year’s large Arctic sea ice decline may be the tipping point for perennial ice and a recovery may no longer [be] possible in the foreseeable future.
Just like many of the anthropogenic global warming crowds claims, it was false.
Scientists say current concerns over a tipping point in the disappearance of Arctic sea ice may be misplaced.
Danish researchers analysed ancient pieces of driftwood in north Greenland which they say is an accurate way to measure the extent of ancient ice loss.
Writing in the journal Science, the team found evidence that ice levels were about 50% lower 5,000 years ago.
They say changes to wind systems can slow down the rate of melting.
They argue, therefore, that a tipping point under current scenarios is unlikely.

Obama is Using ICE to Implement Secret Amnesty

If you are going to catch people here illegally and not prosecute them or deport them, what is the purpose of immigration law? This is a "backdoor amnesty" method.
(Chron) — Homeland Security officials misled the public and Congress last year in an effort to downplay a wave of immigration case dismissals in Houston and other cities amid accusations that they had created a “back-door amnesty,” newly released records show.

The records, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, include a series of internal memos from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s chief counsel in Houston dated last August ordering attorneys to review all new, incoming cases and thousands already pending on the immigration court docket and to file paperwork to dismiss any that did not meet the agency’s “top priorities.” (Read the documents provided by the federal officials in response to a FOIA request here.)

The secretive review process resulted in the dismissal of hundreds of cases in Houston, most of them involving illegal immigrants who had lived in the United States for years without committing serious crimes.

Obama Claims to be deporting more illegals than ever, but ICE official admits they dumped 500,000 back onto US Streets

The truth is hard to come by when the question of the Obama administration's enforcement of immigration law is considered. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano claims they have deported a record 392,000 illegal immigrants over the past year. An ICE official told Prince William Board chairman Corey Stewart ICE released a half a million back onto US streets.

The Washington Examiner reported:
Prince William Board chairman Corey Stewart told The Examiner that a top aide at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement admitted to him that ICE has released more than a half million convicted criminal illegal immigrants back into American communities instead of deporting them.

Stewart also says that he is still waiting for information he requested about the whereabouts of some 2,739 criminals convicted in Prince William County since 2007 and sent to ICE for deportation. County police officers have already recaptured 249 of these felons.

ICE Can Only Remove 4% of Illegal Aliens Per Year

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) memo has revealed they can only remove 4% of illegal immigrants per year. In spite of the lack of resources to enforce immigration law, the Obama administration has filed a lawsuit against Arizona for trying to help.

CNS reported:
In a June 30 memorandum, John Morton, assistant secretary of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said that enforcing civil immigration laws is vital to “our national security, public safety, and the integrity of our border and immigration controls.”

But Morton also said that ICE only has the resources to remove about 400,000 illegal aliens each year, a litle less than 4 percent of the current population of those in the United States illegally.

Obama Picks “Sanctuary City” Supporter for Key Role at ICE

President Obama has selected Harold Hurtt as the director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office Office of State and Local Coordination. Hurtt is a sactuary city supporter and outspoken critic of local immigration enforcement. President Obama has no desire to actually enforce current immigration law.

FOX News reported:
The Obama administration has tapped an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement on the local level to oversee and promote partnerships between federal and local officials.

Harold Hurtt, a former police chief in Houston and Phoenix, has been hired as the director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of State and Local Coordination...

But as a police chief, Hurtt was a supporter of “sanctuary city” policies, by which illegal immigrants who don’t commit crimes can live without fear of exposure or detainment because police don’t check for immigration papers.

He also, during his tenure as Houston police chief, criticized ICE’s key program...

Hurtt’s position at ICE reportedly pays $180,000 a year.
