After outrage over a HarperCollins atlas designed for schools in the Middle East that literally wiped Israel from the map, the publisher announced Wednesday that it has removed the atlas from “sale in all territories” and apologized for “any offense it caused.”
The atlas, which has been on sale for months, was developed to satisfy “local preferences” of English-speaking schools in the Muslim-majority Gulf. HarperCollins promoted the atlas as a tool to provide children “in-depth coverage of the region and its issues” and help them better understand the “relationship between the social and physical environment, the region’s challenges [and] its socio-economic development.”
“Nice goals,” the Washington Post quips, “But there’s one problem: Israel is missing. There’s Syria. There’s Jordan. There’s Gaza. But no mention of Israel.”

Got insomnia? That's a gun seizing in New York...

Anything is a reason to seize guns in New York and many states controlled by gun-hating liberals.

U.S. Navy veteran and retired police officer Donald Montgomery is suing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other officials after his firearms were reportedly confiscated by police after he sought treatment for insomnia.
It all started after Montgomery visited his primary care physician on May 6 and complained about trouble sleeping, the Daily Caller reported. He claimed to have been suffering from insomnia since moving from a different state. Montgomery then returned to the hospital again days later for the same problems, except this time he was diagnosed with “Depression; Insomnia” by hospital staff.
On May 23, Montgomery returned to the hospital yet again with the same symptoms. He reportedly stayed at the hospital for 48 hours voluntarily for treatment.

Another militant commander died when his own explosive he was planting went-off prematurely, he informed. However, Taliban have not yet commented on the clashes.

Fail: Hasbro makes unusual Play-Doh toy

“It’s from my Play-Doh,” the girl replied.
Hasbro, the Pawtucket-based toy company, is now doing damage control over the extruder tool in its Play-Doh Cake Mountain toy. The two-piece syringe-like tool, which includes a tube with corkscrew-type ridges around the outside and a dome-shaped top with a hole at the tip, can be used to squeeze Play-Doh to look like decorative cake frosting.
Complaints have been surfacing since at least November, when Tulsa, Oklahoma, TV station KTUL showed the tool to parents and asked them what they thought. The station blurred the image of the tool during the piece, saying it was due to parents’ reactions. One woman told the station it was “a pretty phallic cake-decorating piece.”[…]

Former Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, in her first interview after losing by 20 points to governor-elect Greg Abbott, admitted she only claimed to support an open-carry gun law in order to win votes.
“There is one thing that I would do differently in that campaign, and it relates to the position that I took on open-carry,” Davis told the San Antonio Express-News on Monday. “I made a quick decision on that with a very short conversation with my team and it wasn't really in keeping with what I think is the correct position on that issue.”
Davis added that she does support “people’s right to own and to bear arms in appropriate situations,” but fears that open carry would be used “to intimidate and cause fear.”

The federal government shipped nearly 4,000 more assault rifles to local law enforcement agencies in the three months following the Ferguson riots, marking a huge surge in the amount of lethal firearms being doled out to police and sheriff’s offices.
The Ferguson riots drew attention and criticism to the massive firepower state and local police are now able to bring to bear on their citizens, and earned scrutiny for the Pentagon project, known as the 1033 program, that helps arm many of those agencies by making surplus military equipment available to them.
President Obama called for a review of the program, civil rights advocates said the local police had become indistinguishable from the military, and even some police departments questioned their own policies.
