President Barack Obama said Wednesday the United States would make every effort to avoid civilian casualties in Afghanistan, after police said 100 Afghans died in US-led air strikes. He added that the leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan had renewed their commitment in a three-way summit here to fight extremism threatening all three nations.
