Our Leaders Golf While The U.S. Burns

I really don't object to Obama, Boehner, Biden and Kasich playing golf together. However, it does provide a metaphor for the decline of the the U.S.A. Much as Nero fiddled while Rome burned, our leaders play a game while our economy is in ruin, we are engaged in three wars and American power and influence have declined worldwide. We are no longer the world's leader and preeminent power. President Obama did not believe in American exceptionalism and he has killed it for the time being. On the other hand, the golf outing reportedly went well and there were refreshing beverages at the clubhouse later.
President Obama and Speaker John A. Boehner played their much-anticipated golf match as a team Saturday, defeating Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Ohio Gov. John Kasich in an outing with high-stakes political overtones.

The White House said in a statement that the president and Mr. Boehner defeated their counterparts on the 18th hole, each winning $2.

“The foursome had great time and really enjoyed playing golf,” the statement said.

After their round at Joint Base Andrews, the foursome went to the patio of the clubhouse where they enjoyed “a cold drink, some of the U.S. Open coverage and visited with service members.”
