Barack Obama sent a video message to Iran's leaders urging the two countries to try to solve their differences. The Iranians were unimpressed.
Iran's top leader Khamenei shuns Obama overtures

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has dismissed overtures from US President Barack Obama, saying Teheran doesn't see any change in American policy toward its government.

Khamenei's comments Saturday were the first top level reaction to Obama's video message to Iran on the occasion of Nowruz, the Persian new year.

Speaking to tens of thousands of people in the holy city of Mashhad, Khamenei asked how Obama could congratulate Iranians on the new year while the US continues to accuse the country of supporting terrorism and seeking nuclear weapons.

The video itself is a change in policy. Bush didn't publicly invite them to discussion.

I think the real problem is that there is nothing to discuss. We aren't at war with Iran, nor do we want to be. Iran isn't going to start supporting Israel, nor Israel Iran. I'm of the opinion that Iran already has nukes, sold to them by the Russians. I think everyone involved knows this and making it public would only ignite a war no one wants. It is all a bunch of posturing so leaders can look tough in front of their populace.
